Whilst having the exhaust done yesterday, I noticed that the exhaust heat shield was rusted through where it clamps just below the outlet manifold. Whether because of the new pipe, or because I didnt hear it over the noise made by the old pipes, I dont know, but it was vibrating like a bugger this evening. Question is: Can I just remove it? or should I remove it and lag the pipe? is anything going to melt, ignite etc? Or anything else anyone could suggest?

Hi all, my brother has recently had the clutch replaced on his TT. Before this was done, it was boosting to just under 1 Bar. After having the clutch done, it is now boosting between 7-9 psi. The ecu is giving code 55. The car does feel down on power compared to before. I have a Mkiv Supra N/A and can out accelerate him. On paper his car should waste mine (220bhp vs 300bhp+) WTF is going on ?

Righty ho... following up on my own post (safety boost), I've done an engine diagnostic (how do you get it out of it now ? even taking key out and back in ,and it's still flashing away at me ?) anyway, it's a det sensor disconnected code 34 and a engine temp sensor disconnected code 13 ( might explain why plenum was hotter than the sun... hopefully ok...) so.. where exactly is the plug for the det sensor ? and where is the lead for the temp sensor as these have clearly not been reconnected properly when they replaced clutch/pipes (they had an abortive attempt at removing the plenum, so it's possible summit is not reconnected up there). stu

What's the difference between the HKS AFR and the HKS S-AFR apart from £180 ? Also what's the best site for info on electronics, i.e. EVC's & AFR's ? Before I start looking at prices I wouldn't mind reading up on what theses actually do and also what extra features they have. I'm currently looking at these two for the not too distant future but don't; want anything too flash with loads of extras. HKS S-AFR Fuel controller £275.00 HKS EVC Boost Controller £395.00

I'm hearing a clicking sound (3 clicks) about every 15-20 secs, it's coming from under the dash, behind the air con unit. I've tried switching the modes of the air con but no joy. But it does stop when I turn the De-mister on. Problem is, can't use the air con without it doing my head in. Any ideas ?? Occasionaly car cuts out. This happens sometimes when i come to a halt (not too suddenly). Only when i've been driving for a couple of minutes, after it warms up it's fine. Could this be the PTU? Also, has anyone figured out a way to stop people staring, someones going to do their neck some damage soon. Cheers

Hi all. I have a 1990 Zed auto tt targa japanese spec. Sad story - had the plugs and oil changed by a garage in devon who said they could do zx's. picked it up on monday at 5.30pm and set out for a 200 mile trip to surrey to vist the parents and attend a funeral the next day. i noticed it was very sluggish, after 3000rpm there was no acceleration, top speed was 100mph, at traffic lights micras were overtaking me as tried to get to 60. can do 80 no problem once reached, but decelerate and then accelerrate - nothing. had enough at fleet services and called the RAC. he spent an hour taking the plugs and coils out and noticed that it was likely it was …

Hi guys and Gals, Erm..I've had a gander at the archived threads on HICAS problems but I can't find any that relate to HICAS leaks. I've had to top the fluid up every couple of weeks recently and I've come to the conclusion that I can't ignore it anymore!! Are there any particular parts that commonly perish/break that could release the steering fluid?? Cheers peeps:confused:

Box on SWB Series 3 is being checked by auto specialist in Dublin He hasnt worked on Many Z's so looking for some info regarding his diagnosis. Z wouldnt change from 2nd to third. 1st to 2nd OK On inspection the Filter in he Box had disintegrated and its pieces were making their way through the BOX ruining it. After a full flush and clean we ended up with only first gear. Now we are going to replace both the Speed sensor and TPS and this should do the trick. However: He has been advised from a UK specialist thet if this happens and it seems to regularly you still have to remove the box and remove and re-assemble torque convertor to clean. ALso t…

I understand that above 5000rpm the vtc solenoids switch off slightly adjusting the timing. Will it be ok for me to disconnect the VTC solenoid connectors so see if it's the root of my Z related evil? My problem arises at about 5000rpm & above where it just quickly runs out of steam perhaps nackered VTC springs or solenoids or something? I don't know much about this topic:confused:

I started my car from cold tonight and noticed a noise from the front which I think is the radiator fan. I've never noticed this before , and surely it shouldn't be on when the car is cold? Should it? Cheers, F.T.

Recently it was pointed out to me that my Z emblem on the front centre panel was gold, whereas most were silver. So who has what colour emblem on their Zed? Any other colours than what I've listed? UK Spec owners - get off my poll, you're excluded sorry ;) :) Cheers Pete

Well this evening after work we fitted the Blitz Suss kit, took less than an hour - neat stuff. I had to hoover around the radiator etc. so much crap was stuck around in there! Anyway took it for a mad drive around A414 >A1 etc. Results - my opinion anyway: Better throttle response. Afterwards when I got back lifted the bonnet to let engine cool down - as I did work it hard - I noticed how much cooler the engine seemed. When you consider how much restriction the old filter box caused then its no wonder that its improved with it gone. Now there is more cool air going through from the big vent in the front of my 99' spec. bumper. I'm pleased with the result. …

Hi thought I would share another timing belt story as I can not stress enough the regularity we see problems in this area. Start`s out as a series of calls from a distressed zed owner who cannot start his zed. After a week or so of this and every possible combinations of advise I could give no go, to the guys credit he had a dammed good try but eventually it arrived on a trailer and was looked at yesterday with further work today. Getting it started was not too much of a problem a new tps as the old one was giving some strange messages to the ecu, a new set of plugs and away she went. However after 30 minutes of adjusting/ tuning by ear and via the …
