Box on SWB Series 3 is being checked by auto specialist in Dublin He hasnt worked on Many Z's so looking for some info regarding his diagnosis. Z wouldnt change from 2nd to third. 1st to 2nd OK On inspection the Filter in he Box had disintegrated and its pieces were making their way through the BOX ruining it. After a full flush and clean we ended up with only first gear. Now we are going to replace both the Speed sensor and TPS and this should do the trick. However: He has been advised from a UK specialist thet if this happens and it seems to regularly you still have to remove the box and remove and re-assemble torque convertor to clean. ALso t…

I understand that above 5000rpm the vtc solenoids switch off slightly adjusting the timing. Will it be ok for me to disconnect the VTC solenoid connectors so see if it's the root of my Z related evil? My problem arises at about 5000rpm & above where it just quickly runs out of steam perhaps nackered VTC springs or solenoids or something? I don't know much about this topic:confused:

I started my car from cold tonight and noticed a noise from the front which I think is the radiator fan. I've never noticed this before , and surely it shouldn't be on when the car is cold? Should it? Cheers, F.T.

Recently it was pointed out to me that my Z emblem on the front centre panel was gold, whereas most were silver. So who has what colour emblem on their Zed? Any other colours than what I've listed? UK Spec owners - get off my poll, you're excluded sorry ;) :) Cheers Pete

Well this evening after work we fitted the Blitz Suss kit, took less than an hour - neat stuff. I had to hoover around the radiator etc. so much crap was stuck around in there! Anyway took it for a mad drive around A414 >A1 etc. Results - my opinion anyway: Better throttle response. Afterwards when I got back lifted the bonnet to let engine cool down - as I did work it hard - I noticed how much cooler the engine seemed. When you consider how much restriction the old filter box caused then its no wonder that its improved with it gone. Now there is more cool air going through from the big vent in the front of my 99' spec. bumper. I'm pleased with the result. …

Hi thought I would share another timing belt story as I can not stress enough the regularity we see problems in this area. Start`s out as a series of calls from a distressed zed owner who cannot start his zed. After a week or so of this and every possible combinations of advise I could give no go, to the guys credit he had a dammed good try but eventually it arrived on a trailer and was looked at yesterday with further work today. Getting it started was not too much of a problem a new tps as the old one was giving some strange messages to the ecu, a new set of plugs and away she went. However after 30 minutes of adjusting/ tuning by ear and via the …

We people, all I can say is, don't these cars use a lot of fuel! Actually, I'm driving round with a slight leak in teh old tank still. Looks like Jeffs good work went to waste. I think the chemical fix would have been ok if nothing was to rub against it, but seeing as the hole originally came about due to one of the straps wearing a hole in the tank, I don't think it could have been avoided. Hence, AndyZ should be hstely sending a new tank down to the old World of Z, and I should be back up the old healthy 18MPG. Just thought I'd share that with you. Cos

Does that ring a bell and what does it do. I went to have the brakes checked and the drivers side rear caliper was not working so had the wheel off and checked the caliper and that was fine, so the mechanic said it must be the load sensor. So how do i check this and what do i need to replace. Also will a diagnostic check bring this up, i had a word with Nissan today and they said half and hours worth of labour to do a diagnostic check at a charge of £27.50+vat. Any help would be gr8. Ray

Quick question for the people that are in the know. Just looking at the courtesy web site and i see there in an adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator , (£85) would this be a suitable alternative if you wanted to run 16-17psi or would you need to go to 555 injectors if this is a suitable alternative how much would you have to raise the pressure and would this shag the injectors ????

Any Ideas what the cause is ? The symptoms is brake shudder when braking from high speeds, I wouldn't say aggressive breaking but fairly firm. I have brembo disks on the front about 5 months old, with kevlar pads (still got quite a bit left on them). I don't think the discs are warped as I've done the "listen test" while the car has been jacked up and the wheels have been rotated. I couldn't hear an irregularities. Are we talking master cylinder here ?. If so how much £'s am I looking ?

I will be visiting the US of A the first week of June. Its work and I do not get any time off, but if you would like me to bring back some souvenir car parts I would be happy to save you the transport costs. All you have to do is get then delivered to me at my hotel. I will be staying in Williamsburg VA. By little I mean less than say 4kg - I expect to purchase my own souvenirs and the last time I exceeded my baggage allowance I got hit for £100! So do not expect me to bring over a new autobox! It will be judged on a first come, first served basis so bag your place in the queue asap by posting a reply to this message.
