Attached picture shows the awful way a Cat 1 alarm had been wired in, the wiring run was tightly run around the back of the brake pedal and the brake arm had cut through the insulation on a few cores. The zed had faulty central locking which was directly related to this, I have seen another install where the feed to the alarm had been taken from the ABS and was interfering with the start up proceedure for the abs light (mot failure) and others where the imobiliser is located a few inches frrom where the cables are spliced in making it a quick simple trace job to bypass it! Now I am no way calling all alarm installers but we do see some S??t installations from …

Take a look at the attached picture to see a missing earth cable and a missing fuel filter on an otherwise nice zed was letting it down. Must say removing the filter was an odd decision to make ? Jeff @Zedworld

Ok so what is the cheapest/easiest way to do this, and what should i be upping it too, my car has apexi induction, jwt chip, de-cat, large bore exhaust. Years ago people used to install a knob that turned to increase/decrease the boost but i would assume both turbos have to boost the same so how does it all work??

First the good news. It passes its 3rd MOT since I've had it first time yet again. 130k+ miles. The bad news - only an advisory - says hole in floor near sill front off side. Had visions of my feet on the road Flintstones style! The hole is actually a little smaller than a 2p and right beside the sill section of the OS front wing in the underbody where it meets the sill. The tester has found some rust and poked it all away and right through it. It seems solid all around it though. So I guess some welding will be warranted before the next MOT is due. It is just at the place where tyre fitters jack it up and bend over the seams where the drain holes in the sill…

I need a bit of advice identifying the manufacturer of my front suspension top links, adjustable camber. They are like a sleeved, flat steel box section, with four bolts through them vertically, and two pinch bolts either side. Gold coloured finish, with rubber bushings on the inboard end, and a grease nipple underneath. About 10" x 5" x 1" thick. Well the rubber bushes are worn to death, but I can't find a manufacturer's name on the links themselves, and the previous owner doesn't know when they were fitted. Any ideas who makes these? I need to know if they can take standard rubber bushes. Thanks in advance!

been trying to sort out a problem with brake squeal on my '90 import N/A. I have taken pads out and replaced them having lubed with some copaslip but still have the problem. Ive just been searching old postings on this forum and have seen shims mentioned. I assume these are the thin vented plates behind the pads? Mine seem to be corroded with the paint or coating flaking off in places. Is it possible that this could be my problem? If so, where can I get replacements and how much? Cheers David

A week ago my PTU packed in and I had to get a toe as the car wouldn’t even start. Took the PTU off and cleaned the connections with WD40 and some light sand paper and made all the contacts nice and shiny again and the car started first time. I would actually say that the car ran better, quite noticeably better. Even MAC says his car ran better after cleaning his MAS, after that stopped working. So I decided give my MAS a clean as cleaning my PTU not only made my car work, but made it run better. All I can say is WOW! The car feels so much different. 1st gear on a straight, the back was drifting out, and the revs felt a lot smoother and free. I even got th…

Hi all, I recently had very very bad vibrations coming from under the car during normal acceleration. After response from this forum and some looking around decided to have the CSB (centre shaft bearing) checked out.... its was fooked. So changed that but still vibrations, replaced Gearbox Mount and voila vibrations gone and feelign much better. All seems well until i really give it some as i pull away, i get quite a rough vibration similar to before but feels as if its coming from much further behind - maybe at the rear diff?? wondered if there is a nother bearing or mount at the back end of the propshaft or somthing that may also need replacing. I …

Hello all, Gonna get round to fitting new shocks and springs next week and just wondered how I know which are the front and which are the rear springs? They are the same height and the only difference is in the top of the spring, 2 are slightly smaller. Cheers Vijay

erm. any of u car industry types... my other car (the mundano) has one of these kenwood mask stereo (thing flips round). I bought the car in february. I've got the manuals for the stereo and even the wee 'passport'. However this appears to be bog all use... Since I disconnected the battery, it is saying 'transmit 1'. and that's the lot. I think I'm supposed to have a week key fob 'mask key' ? I have the remote control but no mask key. Is there a way of getting it to work again ? I fecking hated the peice of sh*t anyway to be honest, but would rather not have to buy a new one (and new CD changer, as I wouldn't buy kenwood again).. ideas on a pos…

more of a rant than a request for advice, though any advice would be welcome. Ordered $500 kit from courtesy and was eagerly awaiting its arrival, as time wore on I was getting concerned by its non-arrival. I needn't have worried, it was safe in the hands of H.M. Customs and excise, and for the the paltry sum of £114.57p, they will let me have it. Robbing basta*ds. I take it this is standard robbery? or have I just been unlucky?

now I know that they're as common as muck round our way, and I know they have plenty of reliability and build quality issues, I even have 2 mates and a client that own them, but still I got immense satisfaction from blasting an AM DB7 this morning! We were side by side at dual carriageway lights and when they changed he went for it, will a touch of wheelspin and testosterone. So I leant a little harder on the loud pedal and caught second neatly with a little bit of tail jiggle - NICE! - and sqeezed past him just before 65mph (about 5 seconds later!). He stayed a respectful distance behind until I turned off about a mile further. Next I need to try it a…

Hello all! Just been trying to wire up me new stereo. I linked the corresponding connections from the car (non-Nissan connector) to old Jap stereo to the new Panasonic one via an ISO plug. But the stereo won't come on - nothing, then it got dark  so I gave up. for tonight. I followed the wiring diagram stuck on the back of the old head unit but this ended up being slightly different to what was actually connected to it. What I would like to know is how to test which wires prutruding from the car are which? Can I put a battery across the speaker wires etc? What voltage? How do I test which wires connect to the battery/power and ignition. Its not …
