Afternoon all. Hopefully someone can provide me with a quick and cheap solution to my Zed's new problem... the glove-box is knackered. A fat fingered friend of mine has somehow managed to destroy the mechanism that locks the glovebox in place - so it's always open. I took the glovebox off on the weekend and pulled it apart to look at the catch, but it seems properly broken and would need a new part. I reckon it's probably easier to just get a new glovebox from somewhere isn't it..? So, a) does anyone have a glovebox (preferably in that nasty grey tweed to match the rest of the nasty grey tweed) or b) know where I can get a new one reasonabl…

...about to replace the front caliper piston seals etc this weekend - and might do the rears too. I seem to recall a thread about having to bleed the back brakes first then the fronts. Anybody got any advice. Thanks in advance Jack

I have recently installed an Apexi AVC-R boost controller but it has not been set up yet because i do not know what chip to get to run with it and it seems there is a lot of debate over what is the best one. In an advert in Jap Performance Magazine one company is selling GReddy E Manage piggyback ECU system and i was wondering if this system would be the same as chipping my Z. Does anybody know anything about this system or has anyone got it already done?

can anyone offer any guidance on how much dismantling I need to do to get to my ECU to swap a chip over? I lifted the wooden panel and have started to undo some of the screws on the ecu box, but one is damaged and proving difficult - so I started to wonder if I was doing it right!

Hi all. I have had the Lambda sensor (is that how you spell it!?)replaced on the passenger side. Now at idle it is quite lumpy. Should i now reset the ECU? I have done a search on this and am i right in saying all i have to do is disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Any advice / help is most appreciated. Regards Ian PS: I was a lawyer some 5 years back but got fed up with the work, clients and late nights.

Does anyone know how I can get engine oil, which has been leaking out for a while, off a tarmac drive!! My missus is not to impressed with the nice patch it has left! I've tried loads of washing up liquid and hot water and a good stiff brushing ( oooh missus!!) but that doesn't work! Any ideas? Cheers, F.T.

Hi guys just need some advise, am upping the boost pressure on my TT uk , am chipping the ecu. I have heard that the standard turbs seals can fail especially with several thousand miles under their belts. My question is if they do fail should I, 1. Recon the original ones , can recons with new seals take the added boost. do the originals only fail as they getting on a bit. 2. or fit aftermarket ones such as HKS I will only be running at 14 psi and don,t expect to upgrade more than this.

Right as some know i have a problem of loosing alot of power at high revs. If i were to floor it in 2nd it would go well until about 4500 where it would start to ease off until at about 5800 where it would go no higher. I have tried the following and am starting to run out of ideas. Replaced fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator. Wired a 12v to pump to check pump controller. Changed coil packs. Changed timing belt to make sure it hadnt slipped a tooth(it hadn't) Ign timing 13-15 degrees. Did change sparks but admittedly they're now dodgy import plugs. Installed de-cat to check 4clogged cats. Can't really find any boost leak. Resistances of inject…

Just typical, get my UK 90tt auto back on the road, have it running for just a couple of weeks and I get back to it today to find a big puddle of green oily looking liquid under the osf wheel. Wasn't able to get a good look at the stuff because the heavens opened up as I got back to it. Limped home (just under a mile) watching guages and listening for noises. Nothing.... The aircon needs re-gassing so that wasn't on, so I don't think its condensation, plus it had a real fairy washing up liquid green colour to it. Any ideas ?? Its likely to be the weekend before I have another chance to investigate...

Hello all I'm here as I am in need of a 300ZX Turbo. JUst want a bit of advice from all your knowledge is it worth the extra for a manual over the auto? What realistic MPG can I expect (I'm guessing 15mpg). Insurance I'm 24 (Zero no claims and 1 claim no points or convictions) and have had a quote of £1050 TPFT from Elephant.co.uk if your a member here is there an insurance Co who give a lower premium than what I have there. I'm looking to spend between £3k and £4.5k ideally I'd like airbags but I think that is too little money for a 1994+ model. Did the Z TT come with side impact bars? Lastly on this post for tuning the 300ZX TT Manual whats the opti…

I have a 91 N/A 2+2 Auto and whenever i pull away hard and fast (As you do) I get this really loud clonking for a sec or so which i am certain from what i have read is the propshaft centre bearing. I have also heard that i may need the rear gearbox mount. is this so or will it be just the bearing that has gone? Rang nissan and got £133 + Vat for bearing and £56.20 + Vat for each mount. Does anyone know where else i can obtain these parts from at an obviously cheaper price? I have seen a place called Drive-Pro but i don't know where they are or what there number is. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks Allan

Anyone know what the reason might be for this: Basically in any gear, when my revs pass through the 4-5K band, I get a weird groaning sound from the front - I'm assuming it's the engine, as it's rev-related, but who knows?! In fact - it doesn't groan on the way back down (with no load), which may or may not be Sounds like Chewbacca is stuck under the car. Goes away after a while and there're no other ill effects. Any ideas? Russ.

Ouch :( I'm having trouble with the Z: coming back from Manchester to Nottingham last week, it cuts out in traffic (maybe half an hour after setting off) and won't start for about 10mins. Starts, runs fine, drives about 200yds and cuts out again. I leave it for longer, start it up, run it round a side road to check it's not going to cut out again, and then head off on my way. Maybe 20mins later it does the same thing again, but on an open road. Again, I start it (after about 5mins), leave it to idle a while, and it just dies. This goes on a couple more times before I give up & call the RAC. By the time they get there, of course it starts fine, bloke can't find an…

Bought the car (the T shirt and the poor life style with this car) but I don't know what oil I should put in it. I don't know what the previous owner put in (Mr Japnipson (thats not racist I hope)). I heard it's not wise to mix decent engine oils AND turbo cars burn oil as a natural event... more frikkki expense. Happy owner(pissed) Rod

Just spent most of the weekend putting a rear fog on for the MOT had to remove all the stuff in the boot and half the seats just to feed a fookin wire through, that and tidy up the rather odd foglight setup the previous owner had done.

1) dont wait during a sunny day and think you will service the car tommorow. 2) if somebody tells you its a lot easier to take a zed to a garage than service it yourself, believe them, they know what they are talking about 3) if you find a site on the web that tells you it is a step by step guide to doing a service, dont believe them, it will only end in tears 5) The one tool you dont own, be it ever so humble, will be the one youwill need on a wet sunday afternoon when halfords is shut (6mm long reach allen key) 6) dont use your 12v electric drill with a nut runner attached to undo pully bolts, the smell of a burnt out motor is a terrible thing. …
