Anyone know what the reason might be for this: Basically in any gear, when my revs pass through the 4-5K band, I get a weird groaning sound from the front - I'm assuming it's the engine, as it's rev-related, but who knows?! In fact - it doesn't groan on the way back down (with no load), which may or may not be Sounds like Chewbacca is stuck under the car. Goes away after a while and there're no other ill effects. Any ideas? Russ.

Ouch :( I'm having trouble with the Z: coming back from Manchester to Nottingham last week, it cuts out in traffic (maybe half an hour after setting off) and won't start for about 10mins. Starts, runs fine, drives about 200yds and cuts out again. I leave it for longer, start it up, run it round a side road to check it's not going to cut out again, and then head off on my way. Maybe 20mins later it does the same thing again, but on an open road. Again, I start it (after about 5mins), leave it to idle a while, and it just dies. This goes on a couple more times before I give up & call the RAC. By the time they get there, of course it starts fine, bloke can't find an…

Bought the car (the T shirt and the poor life style with this car) but I don't know what oil I should put in it. I don't know what the previous owner put in (Mr Japnipson (thats not racist I hope)). I heard it's not wise to mix decent engine oils AND turbo cars burn oil as a natural event... more frikkki expense. Happy owner(pissed) Rod

Just spent most of the weekend putting a rear fog on for the MOT had to remove all the stuff in the boot and half the seats just to feed a fookin wire through, that and tidy up the rather odd foglight setup the previous owner had done.

    1) dont wait during a sunny day and think you will service the car tommorow. 2) if somebody tells you its a lot easier to take a zed to a garage than service it yourself, believe them, they know what they are talking about 3) if you find a site on the web that tells you it is a step by step guide to doing a service, dont believe them, it will only end in tears 5) The one tool you dont own, be it ever so humble, will be the one youwill need on a wet sunday afternoon when halfords is shut (6mm long reach allen key) 6) dont use your 12v electric drill with a nut runner attached to undo pully bolts, the smell of a burnt out motor is a terrible thing. …

help...just had a second hand engine fitted to me zed but its running like crap. seems fine when cold but gets bad detonation when hot, Also boost gauge reads 0 to 0.5 psi when at idle, drops to -2when slowly accelerating and goes on up to 10 when hard accelerating.is this an air leak or something worse/wrongly connected. Bloke who did the work is a "jap specialist" but then admitted to have never worked on a zed after job was done.

Also i will eventually get the rear bumper from zcentre fitted, so what will fit, more importantly, what unit do you recommend, plenty out there, but its starting to hurt when looking!! vicky x x OR can anyone convince me of the benefits of removing cats and forever worrying about turbo seals going pop - i do drive her hard:D :D

Just got the car back and my det sensor has gone. Have any of you had trouble with the resistor solution? Car has done a shade short of 80K miles and although the turbos are reel good for now, I`m thinking about leaving the det sensor as is until I have to get the turbos replaced. Any thoughts?

At the risk of startuing another war. Went to halfords today, asked for PFR6B-11 plugs (see i did read the threads) He didnt have them but looked on his box of tricks and came up with NGK403s which are BCPR6E-11s These are the same plugs quoted for the NA on TTZs site. Thought I would ask before I buy? They also recommended Bosch 511, but the trhreads on here seem to slate bosch so removed them from the equation

Anyone know where I can get my zorst volume tuned down without adversely effecting the performance? I have reason to believe that this is one of the loudest cars in the world and I am starting to get a headache from the noise! (I have a de-catted through stainless zorst by Alien Concepts in Scotland. Tiny incy wickle back boxes means big decibel noise!)

  20. To recap, I've had the auto-manual conversion and the gearbox neutral switch has never been connected. Looked into how it actually works today and established from the Techtom that switch reports OFF when not in neutral, the same as if the switch is physically disconnected. Therefore, my theories about variable valve timing actuation and cruise control are shot to sh1te. As I'd got that far I did connect the switch up (just pulls the line pin 13 on the autobox controller-pin 44 on the ECU down to ground) and now I can happily watch the Techtom report ON when it's neutral and OFF when in gear. Will make no difference though, so now I still have to establish why my c…

Hi folks, wonder if anyone can help with this little problem... When I first got my Zed I noticed the interior light (and sometimes the "door open" light on the dash) came on occasionally when going overa bump at high speed. I could also hear a relay or something clicking in the rear left wing so I assumed it was due to the tailgate. A quick search of this forum found a similar problem, and suggested I should adjust the tailgate latch for a tighter fit, which I did several times - each time making it worse! When I was adjusting the latch, I noticed that when all 3 bolts are loosened the clicking goes crazy when I just touch the single bolt (on the left as you …

Hi guys, It's about time I had a proper zed mech take a look at the Z, but don't know where. I'm pretty sure (he says with fingers crossed) that it's in good nick, but I don't know what's been done to it in the past (I've little to no servce history). So I'm looking for some-one do a thorough diagnostics from bumper to bumper and point out what's stock, what not, what's on it way out, and what can be done to improve it. Done a quick search on past posts, but didn't see anything for this area. So, the question(s): Can you recomend anyone in the Oxford/Bucks/milton keynes or surrounding area that know their stuff? Or is there some-one that's so damn g…
