'Lo all, As you may know my Zed is idling like a bitch at the moment, really lumpy. I'm having lots of practice at left foot braking in traffic though, which is nice ;) But I have found, If I drive really gently when the car is cold untill I hit traffic, as soon as I get to the traffic the car is nearly undriveable. The idle makes the car lurch foward at slow speeds and it keeps trying to stall. This will continue to happen till I get the chance to boost a little, after that it's a lot better. But, if I start the car and push it a little when first moving off, (not rag the tits off it  ) Just get the boost into the positive part of the gauge for a f…

So reading up on the differences between auto and manual tt's, the obvious main 2 are the size of the turbo's and milder cams in the auto. Has anyone spec'd up the cams in their auto? You don't seem to read about it? And where would that fit in the scheme of things with bigger intercoolers and turbo's? I know SE do a bit of cam work.

I seem to remember some-one on here saying they were going to create an electric gadget that automatically folded the wing mirrors in when the engine was turned off, instead of manually having to press the button (all that effort!) Ring any bells with any one? any one got something like this on their Z? Cheers Mark

Hi! I wonder if any of you can help? I have a set of ERGLANZ alloy wheels fitted to my Z. They are 6 spoke in a three spoke design (see my rides page) and have a cover over the 5 wheel nuts, secured with a bloody ENORMOUS central locking nut. The problem is....... over the years various tyre shops without the right sized spanner have had a go at the central nuts, resulting in them now being buggered to schit. They have tried the good old hammer and chisel approach I think:mad: I have been to my local engineering company, who would be happy to make me a replacement set of nuts for £96 EACH!!! I have looked on Google for ERGLANZ but coz it's a Jap…

if you don't have written proof in your service history, is there any way to ascertain whether you have had the above or not ? I mean some people will call oil/filters/plugs etc. a major service but that's not a proper 60k service for a zed.

Hi all, I changed my rear shocks and springs today but one side seams higher than the other?? I have the front shocks to do next but can anyone suggest what might cause this? A mate thought it might be the rubber mounting that the spring sits into............ Cheers Vijay

The attached pic. shows a Stillen rear steer lock up assembly This is used to disable the Hicas system, assuming I guess the owner does not like Hicas or the rack is knackerd then Stillen have the answer...or do they. Why use the original arm sections? this is the main area that wear takes place and this zed was no exception with excessive movement in the arm knuckles under the rubber boots bit of a swiz I think. well cars been happily running sweet since october 2002, bit of a power steering leak but nothing major, today however on the way to work the temp guage was hapily sat on halfway as per usual then sudden rockets up towares H and steam coming out the bonnet at the traffic lights, i got to work 2 minutes from when steam appeared so just coasted there, flips bonnet and getting this hissing sound coming from were the 2 water pipes go into the block, couldnt see it leaking as the cam cover protrudes over the pipes, but rusty water (not alot tho) had sprayed around that area just behind coolant temp sensors, is there a gasket where the alloy pipes join the block, wel…

Does anyone know where I can get Dump valves or BOVs for a reasonable price? A lot of people seem to rate HKS but there was also a rumour that Blitz were going to join the party soon, is this true. Will need to do a phone around but don't know who to try. Can you help. Cheers, Dean.

OK, my car was imported with one of those crap radios that won't tune above 90MHz, So last night I decided that I'd have a look at the job at hand. I looked around on some of your loverly sites and found how to get the centre console cover off. Everything going to plan... SMEG!! What the hell kinda connector is that on the back!! So I put everything back as I should have and everything appears OK. Until I get up in the morning and now the clock isn't working, the intermittent wipe on the front isn't working and the rear washers and wiper is goosed. So I naturally assumed I'd touched something or not put something back quite right. So I take everything apart agai…

Afternoon all. Hopefully someone can provide me with a quick and cheap solution to my Zed's new problem... the glove-box is knackered. A fat fingered friend of mine has somehow managed to destroy the mechanism that locks the glovebox in place - so it's always open. I took the glovebox off on the weekend and pulled it apart to look at the catch, but it seems properly broken and would need a new part. I reckon it's probably easier to just get a new glovebox from somewhere isn't it..? So, a) does anyone have a glovebox (preferably in that nasty grey tweed to match the rest of the nasty grey tweed) or b) know where I can get a new one reasonabl…

...about to replace the front caliper piston seals etc this weekend - and might do the rears too. I seem to recall a thread about having to bleed the back brakes first then the fronts. Anybody got any advice. Thanks in advance Jack

I have recently installed an Apexi AVC-R boost controller but it has not been set up yet because i do not know what chip to get to run with it and it seems there is a lot of debate over what is the best one. In an advert in Jap Performance Magazine one company is selling GReddy E Manage piggyback ECU system and i was wondering if this system would be the same as chipping my Z. Does anybody know anything about this system or has anyone got it already done?

can anyone offer any guidance on how much dismantling I need to do to get to my ECU to swap a chip over? I lifted the wooden panel and have started to undo some of the screws on the ecu box, but one is damaged and proving difficult - so I started to wonder if I was doing it right!

Hi all. I have had the Lambda sensor (is that how you spell it!?)replaced on the passenger side. Now at idle it is quite lumpy. Should i now reset the ECU? I have done a search on this and am i right in saying all i have to do is disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Any advice / help is most appreciated. Regards Ian PS: I was a lawyer some 5 years back but got fed up with the work, clients and late nights.

Does anyone know how I can get engine oil, which has been leaking out for a while, off a tarmac drive!! My missus is not to impressed with the nice patch it has left! I've tried loads of washing up liquid and hot water and a good stiff brushing ( oooh missus!!) but that doesn't work! Any ideas? Cheers, F.T.

Hi guys just need some advise, am upping the boost pressure on my TT uk , am chipping the ecu. I have heard that the standard turbs seals can fail especially with several thousand miles under their belts. My question is if they do fail should I, 1. Recon the original ones , can recons with new seals take the added boost. do the originals only fail as they getting on a bit. 2. or fit aftermarket ones such as HKS I will only be running at 14 psi and don,t expect to upgrade more than this.

Right as some know i have a problem of loosing alot of power at high revs. If i were to floor it in 2nd it would go well until about 4500 where it would start to ease off until at about 5800 where it would go no higher. I have tried the following and am starting to run out of ideas. Replaced fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator. Wired a 12v to pump to check pump controller. Changed coil packs. Changed timing belt to make sure it hadnt slipped a tooth(it hadn't) Ign timing 13-15 degrees. Did change sparks but admittedly they're now dodgy import plugs. Installed de-cat to check 4clogged cats. Can't really find any boost leak. Resistances of inject…
