i read somewhere on this forum that it is relatively easy to get a zx up to 400bhp. is this true. i.e. is it easy and cheap or easy and EXPENSIVE. i have a imported TT which i assume is 280bhp standard. I have a boost controller but i dont think it works. So my question is......If it is relatively cheap and easy to get 400bhp then could someone tell me (preferably in detail) what i need to get and do and also someone in the midlands that would be able to help. Thank you rav

Yesterday (after a trundle in the country) the radiator cap blew off the rad and all the coolant went whoosh all over the road. This was after about an hour on the M4 at less than 90, followed by about 10 mins at 40. RAC bloke who filled up the system said the cap couldn't have been on properly as they never come undone by themselves. Has anyone else had a cap do this? (Real Nissan rad cap, real Nissan rad, no mods). Cheers - Gio

Decided to do a sevice (well, my best attempt at one!) today. Changed oil to castrol 10/60 (as recomended by macca!) Changed coolant, (but i didnt empty the engine banks as I didnt know you had to till afterwards!!) I just removed the main hose underneath. Wil this need doing again? How much more water can the damn thing hold??? I filled a bucket!!! Also after I refilled it, took it for a run came back checked for leaks there were none, job done i thought, but when i went back to it it had made a very small puddle on the floor under the resevior tank, so i topped the rad back up but it only took about 50ml (res tank was still fine) took it for another run a…

hi all i have a problem with my 91 tt import. it seems to only be firing on 5 cylinders! i was driving along and the car was running fine, suddenly it seemed to loose a cylinder. a warning light now comes on intermitantly. I dont know what this is for cos the manual I have is for the European model which doesn't include this in the dash warnings. It is on the left hand side of the dash under the speedo and looks like two parallel lines with a bulge in the middle and four squiggly lines (a bit like heat lines?) above it. It appears to be the middle light of a popssible five warning lights - can anyone enlighten me on what the problem may be or what the warning li…

I'm completly stuffed on this one! I've done a whole new rear cluster arraingment to use 'led' bulbs & stuff. Tail & b/light work well, but the indicator led's flash about 6 times faster than stock bulbs :(, looks pants. So i contacted the makers & they said some cars with a high relay output need a resistor in line @ the bulb to reduce the feed. Ok but they can't recomend a suitable 12v resistor for a Z. Any ideas? harve

Can anyone else remove their key from the ignition at any time? Like when the engine is running  It's handy for when the car is running and you need to go back into the house without turning off the engine, but it does worry me. Fortunatly the steering lock doesn't seem to work or my keys falling out of the ignition when driving could be a disaster

Hallo matey - you know who you are;) Thanks for pulling over- happily, the RAC bloke was only 5 mins behind you. It looks as if the rad cap just blew off (which everyone says means it wasn't properly on in the first place). Loads of RAC water later and trundly off home - no leaks (so far fingers crossed). Hope you find the bits to get your NA sorted soon. Thanks again - Gio :p

Hello! I bought some new rear speakers and a CD player at the weekend and need a bit of help :) The speakers went in fine - Pyle (?!) 6x4s and are looooads better than the standard ones I took out - one of which wasn't connected anyway   . Read loads of posts about bypassing the rear speaker amp etc and redrilling brackets - none of which seemed to apply  . They fitted perfectly and worked fine with the old stereo :) . Thats all fine, but I started on the CD Player (Panasonic CQ-RDP003N incidentally) and it's obviously got a more modern connector with bundle of colourful wires which doesn't simply slot into the connector sticki…

I have a sick Z32. The front right wishbone has failed. Do I need to replace both or can I get away with a new one on one side only. Also does anyone know of any good second hand one I might be able to get my hands on? Thanks in advance. Simon

Changed a set of PFR6B-11C for ZFR7F-11 today. ZFR are copper plugs, so probably change them every time I do the oil but for £2 each, who cares? For comparison, both plugs are 11.5 mm from base of threads to the top of the metal 'shroud' around the insulator. ZFR are 2mm longer from top of shroud to top of firing electrode. Think length wise this puts them between PFR6B-11C and PFR6B-11B. The plugs I took out had definately overheated (insulator v. white and no deposits at all, electrodes glazed) so it's probably worth going up to 7's. Seems to be running OK on 0.8mm gap, but didn't go for a long run because I left the oil cap off!!!

Just popping out to holfords to see if there is a booster type seat that will fit the rear of my 2+2. My son and heir is 2½ soon (and 15Kg) and currently has a seat strapped in the front (he rides with me more than his mum does). Thing is, we occasionally go out all together and so he needs to be moved onto the back (so mum can stop complaining about how small the back of the car is!) Can anyone recommend a seat that fits or do I have to try them all and see for myself? Many thanks for useful suggestions.

Any one got any ideas? I just got a new Alpine head unit fitted and it came with a remote. A bit daft, but then it is quite a reach to the centre console, si I am currently experimenting with the idea of mounting the remote somewhere handy, ie near the gear lever or steering wheel. What I'd really like to do, though, is have a few basic controls mounted on the steering wheel, which is non-standard, see pic...

I work with one of those know all, been there etc twats. Drives a Vectra V6, keeps referring to the beast as a Nissan 200.. Apparently he used to be a rally driver for the navy ( get the picture?:D ) Anyway yesterday after a nightshift we find each other side by side at some lights. The dick starts revving and grins at me like some kind of sad rent boy ( whatever that looks like:D ) Lights change , I decide to have some fun , needless to say he was wiped out. Next shift, all the tart had to say was....not bad ...for 2 litres....:D

Anyone ever use the auto box manually - i.e. using the auto lever up through 1st/2nd etc.??? I would think it would put more wear and tear on box - but what do you think? Geoff.

Dumb question maybe. I can see where the air goes in but not where it comes out. ??? Also is there an easy way to clean up the fins. The lower couple of inches of each of mine have the fin edges bashed - probably with small stone impacts over time. Obviously this impedes airflow through and thus charge cooling. If I could get to the back of them easily maybe a water jet from behind would straighten them back out and clean out any crud etc improving airflow. Water from the front would only make them worse.

I was thinking of modifying the tailgate of my fairlady to the 4 round lights style seen on many cars, but unforeseen circumstances won't allow this (financially). However, on perusing the Zcentre website, I saw (under the bodykit 5 category) a 'black vinyl rear strip (part no: ZC016)' for £25.00. There's only one picture of this on a red car, and it appears to go over the rear lights creating an illusion of 6 round rear lights, with a Z motif in the middle. This looks like an ideal alternative for me (for now), but there isn't really much info on this on the website. Does anyone have this on their car, and if so, is it any good, and do they have any pics I…

OK, so I have these cool split rim alloys that need to be resealed and so far no-one has given any contacts in the NW who can refurbish them.... What does this have to do with fuses? Well I bought an electric tyre compressor so I can re-fill the tyres anywhere without looking like I'm trying to blow up an airbed! BUT, the damn cigarette lighter doesn't work, so I'm still having to plan my routes via petrol stations with working airlines! Can anyone tell me where the fuse for the cigarette lighter is supposed to be so I can check it? Many thanks.

Sorry for the rather pathetic question;- The manual says use dot3 fluid for the clutch, am i right in thinking dot4 is fine to use? If memory serves me correctly it's dot5 that's different?

Zed's dead boys and girls. ECU reporting error codes 12 and 53. This is the MAS sensor and the right hand O2 sensor. Car starts, stumbles a bit, then dies. Throttle doesn't appear to do much apart from make it die quicker. Now I have had all the boost stuff off on the right side to fix a water leak. When I put it all back on, car was fine for about 100 miles then died. Car was reporting just an error code 53 at the time so I presumed I'd left a leak in the intake side. I've just had all this off again this morning and put it on again but the problem's still there. And the error code 12 has just appeared as well. Any thoughts? And any MAS sensors out there?

comming back from shops yesterday and this guy up my arse everywhere all the time, so we get a bit of an open road and we go for it rolling - LMFFAO it was not even funny, i just walked away from him no matter what. Then we get to a set of traffic lights on the a217 and he sort of pulls up ut a little bit behind me (ie his front wheel just behind mine - i gueessso he could get the jump at the lights) Now its time for LAUNCH control :D:D so i hit zeee button and start revving he he (i have it set at about 3800rpm) so its cutting in i put 20% slip as the lights went i just side steeped the clutch (do that in an auto) and i absolutely minced him big time (and he was revving …
