General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I have a Uk spec TT and want to change the passenger seat from the standard to the electric jap seat. Will I have to change the rail that the seat attaches to? If anyone has done this before any suggestions would be great.

went down the road earlier today not far just to post a later when i came back gave it a good boot full as you do, drove up to house let engine idle for a few minutes as i always do then all of a sudden lots of white smoke and a smell of oil after about 30 seconds it cleared, so i stopped it, went out in it a short time later ran like a dream no smoke, came back let it tick over still no smoke very strange anyone got any ideas will try it again tomorrow. Also the wife has had it for the last couple of days doing the school run, she will have only been poodling about in it. Sid:confused: -------------------

Had a bit of fun the other night. There is one lad in Melton who reckons he has the quickest car here. A 420 brake sierra cossie. He's a mate of a mate and he says it's rapid. So coming back from Piston Fest on Friday night just passing a car on the outside land, cruise control on 85 at about 11:30pm. A car comes up behind me. I think 'now that must be a cossie'. Sure enough it comes by me so i speed up to 90 and keep up with it. Anyway we come off the M69 and onto the M1. He gets caught up in traffix on the inside lane and I go by in the outside. We both join the M1 north and come off the A46. He gets behind something doin 70 and I think 'right he's gonna floor it now' a…

Not the end of the world just annoying more than anything. Idles ok when cold.When hot sometimes hunts between 500 and 1000 rpm. Also ,sometimes when coming to a roundabout or junction will cut out and stall - always restarts no problem. Anybody come across this problem before? Am I right in thinking its the tps? Anybody? I know its askin alot but does anyone know the weight of a stock 8.5inch rear wheel with a 245 tyre on it? :D Its just that parcelforce will take up to 30kg for 25quid ( 2 wheels to send). hmmm , should the tyres be inflated with helium? hehe

Hey folks, I think I've narrowed down my coolant leak to the radiator drain plug on the bottom of the rad. It leaks loads after a run out, but when I top it up cold there's no leakage. I tried tightening the wingnut up but it justs spins and spins :confused: Has anyone replaced this part? What do I need to do? And are Nissan likely to stock it? Cheers :) Pete

Hi All I'm about to replace my downpipes with some stainless ones (due to that little branch pipe leaking) and just wantde to know if it is an emmission control pipe of some sort, and if you just block it off or vent it to atmosphere after the new pipes are fitted? I'm guessing that's what the pipe is... Thanks!

I need front brake pads, my local parts shop said Tarox are very good , does anyone use them here? Or any other recomendations?

Warning for newbies........... Nissan UK get parts form Japan, double the price and sell them to ppl in the UK. TOP TIP - It's far cheaper to order Nissan OEM parts from Japan and have them imported. Make this sticky ?:D

Iv had 2 heater matrix hoses perish on my car and nissan have charged me £43 for 2 small rubber pipes without the clips. Am i the only 1 that thinks this is a bit 2 much for two small pipes. Apparently courtesy nissan would have charged me half the price but the delivery would have been a problem as it would have taken a few days and im stuck without my car. Is there any1 out there other than nissan who supplys parts for the zed without ripping us off on prices, who is also based in the uk. Any ideas Cheers Fas

Any1 know of a decent london mechanic whos able to work on zeds. For minor jobs tamworth seems far so i need to find a good mechanic in the london area possibly north west. He has to be honest and not willing to add things on to the bill. Cheers Fas

after fitting the 2nd tie rod poly bush and sway bar bush (did other side previous evening) the brake judder has 95% gone, so while out testing the car, 91na, and offering a new Z4 a run , I inadvertantly came across a pigeon sat in the road. Too late to take avoiding etc, I looked in the rear view mirror to see that the Z4 had declined my offer, and although there were feathers, the was no pigeon. When I got home, I opened the bonnet to find the engine covered in feathers, removed the front panel, but no bird. Going further down it transpired the bird had gone through (bent back) the stainless mesh I've fitted to the lower air dam and was resting (in peace) inside …

Hi Guys, Just a quick question: Are R33 Brembos (calipers and discs) from an R33 GTR different from R33 GTR (V-Spec)??? As the one I have sourced are form R33 GTR (not V-Spec). They are Black calipers and the disc size is apparently the same as the V-Spec (been told by the seller)! Your help will be higly appreciated "Ammar"

Morning all... Got a bit of a problem that I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some advice on.....the water feed pipe to one of my turbos is leaking, and given that its impossible to get to, I've got two choices: 1) Get the gearbox out, replace the pipe, job's a good 'un 2) Bypass the current pipe, but in doing this I believe that it may (or may not?) have a small detrimental affect to the turbo? Thought I'd seen something like this here before, and I thought that bypassing wasn't a problem. What do you guys think? Cheers

hi folks, getting conflicting prices for a cat back powerflow zorst with 4 x exits. Quoted from a powerflow garage yesterday £852.00 PLUS vat!!! Done many searches on here and it seems the normal is 300-500, know of a n/a which had full system from manifold back with cats removed for £800.00. Questioned garage and he said thw quote was normal, and anyone spending £300 for cat back must be buying $hit, but if its powerflow how can it be??? anyone had a cat back powerflow fitted, and approx how much, i don't mind travelling but im getting the feeling im being ripped off??? thanks. vicky x x

hello again folks, Well I still haven't got to the bottom of my smoking exhaust problem. The car doesn't smoke when cold. It only seems to smoke when left idling for a while when fully warmed up and then not always from one exhaust. Sometimes both exhausts smoke, sometimes its only one. The car has done 78500 miles so its probably the turbos. The smoke is mainly white but there is a slight smell of burning oil as well. I'm not too upset as thew turbos are covered under a warrenty but nly up to value of £1000. Does anyone out there have any idea of the cost of reconditioning the turbos at a nissan dealership? It is almost insurance renewal time, and I want to try and find a really good deal as in the past, I have not really had much choice... My current car is a 1989 N/A, standard save for modded tailgate panel. I have had this for about 2 months. Prior to this I had a N/A GTO and the insurance company have simply transferred the certificate at no extra cost. My premium for this current year is just under £2000.... Evening! Having just renewed my insurance (Tescos...) - I now have to get a tracker fitted. Does anyone know anywhere who supplies and fits a decent, cheap hopefully :), insurance approved tracker, thats not too far from the Midlands to travel to. Tescos recommended 'RAC Trackstar', and 'Tracker' systems, amongst others. Much appreciated :) Pete

Looks like I'm loosing some sort of fluid, oil and auto transmission levels apear OK. Not sure if it may be power steering fluid, last time I checked the level it was Ok but today noticed a puddle on the floor along with a small black plastic cap (similar to one off a tube of glue or so) and the level has gone down. Does anyone know if there is a cap some where underneath which I'm hoping has just wound itself off and once replaced, all will be Ok :(

I need to replace one, but when I went to Nissan they where not very helpful and said there where 2 wheel brearings for the rear wheel. One with a hub and one with out. The one without is £118 + VAT :eek:. Does any one know anything about this and explaine it a little.

Hi! Is it easy to change the O2 sensor on passenger side on a 300ZXTT? And where could I find some stuff about how I am going to do this? Can I find the sensor and change it from the top...? Or do I have to get under the car? Thanks! EgilTT
