might have found myself a nice 300, a lad on the sxoc told me that his brother was selling his, (from scotland somewhere) ive seen some pics and it is a very nice looking car, however, its an automatic and the gear box has gone, the lad has bought all the kit needed to convert it to a manual, and these bits are at the z centre in nottingham. can anyone tell me when a auto has been converted to a manual is there any difference between that and a factory made manual, ie bhp, etc. the lad wants good money for the car, and i must admit it is a tidy thing, just this conversion thats worrying me......

I've just ordered some speakers for my Zed. 6"x4" for the rear and 6.5" for the front. I intend to use the existing speaker cables and have already bypassed the rear speaker amp with the existing wires. Is there a great deal to be gained by installing new thicker speaker wires??? The speakers I've bought are Alpine SXE-1725S (front) and SXE-4625S (rear) which are not top quality. I did this purposely as I don't want to have a mobile disco. I love listening to loud music and have a definate inclination to turning it up until the speakers start to show distortion. I'm hoping that the new ones will be better than the stock speakers. I'm sure it can't be worse as my…

My electric aerial isn't working, so decided to take of boot trim to get to it. Found a load of wires. One section connected to a little black box, about the size of a pack of 10 fags, another section connected to a white box about twice the size. What are these and what is their function. I ask this because as I moved them both water poured out! Whatever they are supposed to do they won't do anymore. I tried taking them apart - the black box appears to be a sealed unit, the white box contains a small circuit board. I need to know what they are so if necessary I can replace them. Thanks for your help on this. Colin

Afetr my xarry on with the speedo working, I decided to get under the dash and see what, if anything, I could find. I appear to have a switch cut into the circuit of the speed converter?? cant think why you would want to do that. I also found the box shown in the picture, underneath the drivers side. It has six wires plugged into it, three of which have been cut. One of the remaining three is an earth. Any clues as to what it is or why anyone would chop it? Cheers Hugh

Just taken delivery of my Azev A's and they look good. I ordered an Offset of ET 30mm for the front (18" x 8.5"), but they have been delivered as ET 26mm. Azev's own site quotes 30 for our 300ZX and the distributor recommended this size (although now is saying all sorts of things and I'm not impressed - however the sizes/order was confirmed by fax). They have been offered up and do just clear the caliper. Any advice on what I should do, or check? The distributor is DT Motorsport, and they say they have just supplied a couple of other people on (this) forum - if you read this could you say or send me a PM? Thanks, Geoff

Driving home from work tonight when I started to get symptoms of electrical power failure. Firstly, the stereo started to cut out then went off altogether. Next the engine started to misfire under heavy throttle usage. Next the Hicas system, closely followed by the ABS system shut down (i.e. warning lights on the dash). This coincided with the variable power steering assist stopping working (i.e. the PAS was continually at the same level whatever speed I was driving). Managed to limp home. When I got home, the passenger side window refused to go up. When I cut the engine, the starter motor would only turn very momentarily before giving up. Just tried i…

Howdy chaps and chappesses! First thread here form a new bloke on the block (although I have spied on the forum for a few months now!). A question for the more experienced z-ers out there - especially those of you who are lucky enough to have fitted one of these high quality pieces of tatt that S.E. have the balls to call an induction kit! I bought my z32 a few months ago with this thing already attached (just getting my excuse in for having it!) and the beautiful red paper filters a dirty brown colour. I phoned S.E. for a price on a couple of new ones and they're 17.95 each. Does anyone know if there are any cheaper suitable ones around? Or preferably, if the…

You'll never guess what I've gone and done. This one's a bit more complicated than the 2-page one, and uses more bits. But it's still less complicated than the Mines way of doing it, (again) it's not based on what they done, and it doesn't need a daughter board. For this, you basically solder a socket on top of a 27C512 and connect all pins together except pin-20, which you leave apart. Bend up pin-1 again. Basically, do the 2-page mod first... this gives you the hi/lo selection in the both EPROMs. The second switch is to select which EPROM will be used (top/bottom). Unfortunately, the EPROM that's not in use at the time needs it's pin-20 pulled high, while the in-us…

  25. Hi guys Just found an exhaust leak underneath my zx tt (which has been overheating the ns front wheel arch believe it or not!) and has only just become audible when it's cold. Thing is I can't get under the car to check it out.. Does anybody know of a garage or exhaust centre that can be trusted to stick the car on a lifter (or over a pit) to investigate the problem, without the usual Kwik-Fit "Needs a complete new standard factory 'zorst system guv!" type response? Somewhere in or around north / Central London? I just want to see what the problem is, I'm hoping it's just a loose clamp or something. It's got an HKS system on it, so I'm assuming (perhaps incorrec…
