General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I bought one of those 'tube' type subwoofers with built in amp. When I wire it to the wire that goes from the back of the radio to the power aerial, I get a lot of crackling and intermittant sound breakup. Then I wire it to the battery wire, its ok, but I have to use an on-off switch, which is a pain. Anyone got any suggestions ? Thanks John

Mostly I have been reading on the forums about the 300ZX, not contributing in anyway. I dont own a 300ZX, so i'm mostly gathering information about the car. At the moment i mostly drive around im my dads car, also a Nissan. Being a Nissan - Laurel ('84) its a fairly sized sedan. Nevertheless, with my length, im still touching the roof with my head, shoulders above the seat, knees spread around the steeringwheel and almost touching the gearshifter. Special seat is being ordered. So with my 6,4 Feet/76,7 Inches (1m95) in heigth, would it be a problem for me to fit into the 300ZX? Or do i need to order a special seat aswell?

Hi fellow Z'ers, I'm going to sell my UK manual soon and the shocks need replacing, Is it an easy enough job to trust a mechanically minded mate and what ones to go for?

Today my gear lever started sticking in the 'Park' position. (with the engine running) and the only way to get it into drive is to use the little red lever that is normally used when you want to take it out of drive without the ignition on. Anyone experienced this ? Thanks John

beware if you've had illegal (too dark) tints done on youre car. i heard on the news the other day that the police are to be issued with light meters to test your windows - too dark & they will order you not to drive it!! (as well as giving you a fine :( )

Ihave just disconnected the large rubber hose that goes to the top of the radiator (on the left of the rad). And it has snapped part of the plastic pipe off inside the rubber hose! Ive managed to get the plastic bit out of the rubber hose, but i need to know if i can bond the plastic pipe back on to he rad? Or is there a way of replacing the plastic pipe all together?! Failing that i will have to buy a new radiator, just for the sake of 2p worth of plastic!! Could somebody help me please, and recommend a good bonding/ or glue for the job

Anyone got on pictures of a Jap instrument cluster and the side controls (aircon, etc). Thinking about a Jap inport to replace the rapidly declining UK Zed and need to consider options for this. Excuse my ignorance, but when a speedo conversion is donr do you jet get mph reading on a kpm guage or do you get a new guage as well? If no fog light switch on the side controls, whould it be possible to replace the controls with a UK set. I don't really want a naff fog light switch.

Occasionally when I start the car it screaches like hell, I switch off and try again and its ok, does anyone know what it is ? Thanks John

My air-con compressor whines when in use. Does anyone know if these pumps can be serviced (e.g. new vanes/blades etc.) or does anyone have a spare they'd like to sell. The aircon works fine but I'm sure it'll eventually seize !! Thanks Shaunmac.

Ive noticed that the stock wheels appear to be handed n/s and o/s. I had new rear tyres today and the guy put the n/s rear wheel back on the rear o/s and viceversa. So now the shapes between the five spokes are pointing forward on the front wheels and backward on the rear wheels. They all pointed forward before. Not that it makes much difference but i was wondering which way they were supposed to be pointing ie. when the car left the nissan factory? Have a look at yours now!

Dual carriageway,coming back from todays journey,decided to head for A1 from sheffield,so there iam,not doing much on the new big empty by pass,passed grimthorpe colliery,XK8 looming,goes past out side lane,so car allthough a bit poorly as you know i decide well why not,straight road for 3 miles,dry weather,so i after him,this was harder,but caught him,then passed at 165:eek: ,stayed there for about 30 secs,then slowed ,the XK8 turned at roundabout me straight on,he had a face like thunder:D but it fookin shifted,i would like one to try out,well what a day,;)

i have sourced a big brake upgrade from a Scania truck i cant get my wheel to clear the caliper now, any ideas??

if 75% of all engine wear takes place when the engine is cold, would it not be better for our cars to never swich them off?
