i am seriously getting wound up with taking my car to garages and after 10 mins looking under the hood just shaking their heads and saying nah mate! i have just taken car for mot and it has failed on emissions - co was fine 0.91% (limit was 3.5%) but the hc was 1712 (limit was 1200)ppm. the mot bloke said it was missing or backfiring. the car has been playing up since ive got it hesitating, slow idle 300 after accelerating and stalling when it feels like it and the wires to the spark plug coils are dodgy making it run on 5 or less every now and again. Are these problems related, what could be causing it and where is there around northants could i take it.

Its me again, !! I can't find the engine number listed on the chasses plate either on the door jamb or on the plate in front of the engine. The plate has the chassis number and the trasmission details and just about everything else but no engine number !! Is the number actually stamped on the block somewhere? Cheers. Martin.

I've spoken to a few companies about replacing the turbos on my car and most say its an engine out job. Is there any way to do the work with the engine in-situ? Cheers. Martin.

Hello there folks, My car is one of the very first TT (manual). These cars have the suspect valves and valve springs. Does anyone else have an early car and if so has anyone experienced any problems with the head, valves or valve springs. I've no way of knowing if the springs have been upgraded as the car is a jap import. The engine runds fine. It revs clealy and doesn't sound tappety to my ears. Is there a danger of the engine going bang because of the valve problems with these early models? Cheers. Martin.

Just got back from Lanzarote and noticed my tax/mot have run out. I desperately want to get them sorted as quick as poss so i can drive the Z, thing is, i have 2 duff O2 sensors and some coming from states to replace them. Am i correct in assuming a Z would have no chance on the emissions with the O2's playing up? I can't remember at what revs they check, if it's just tick over they're not used are they? Anywho the stupidest question award goes to me, just im desperate to drive it after being away a while!!!

I have been getting a slipping clutch recently and was gonna change it for an uprated one but someone mentioned that on 1990-1991 models the master cyclinder was poo and if you change it to the later one it can stop the slipping ! Anyone know anything about this andd if its worth me uprating to the later master cyclinder before getting an uprated clutch to see if it is causing it ! Any help greatly appreciated ! Olly.

So far i have HKS induction kit and decat pipes, HKS intercoolers, Mongoose exhaust, Apexi AVC-R boost controller. The car is manual and the boost controller has not yet been set up as my new clutch needs to be fitted first. I am looking for a final power figure of about 450-500BHP. What power can the stock internals handle as i really do not want to rebuild the engine? Do i need to get bigger injectors i.e 555cc? What turbos should i get? Is getting my original ones modified an option? Is the best option to get a chip custom mapped by a company once all the parts are on? or can u keep the original chip and get a piggy back ecu system like the Gredd…

Had a bit of fun the other night. There is one lad in Melton who reckons he has the quickest car here. A 420 brake sierra cossie. He's a mate of a mate and he says it's rapid. So coming back from Piston Fest on Friday night just passing a car on the outside land, cruise control on 85 at about 11:30pm. A car comes up behind me. I think 'now that must be a cossie'. Sure enough it comes by me so i speed up to 90 and keep up with it. Anyway we come off the M69 and onto the M1. He gets caught up in traffix on the inside lane and I go by in the outside. We both join the M1 north and come off the A46. He gets behind something doin 70 and I think 'right he's gonna floor it now' a…

Hey folks, I think I've narrowed down my coolant leak to the radiator drain plug on the bottom of the rad. It leaks loads after a run out, but when I top it up cold there's no leakage. I tried tightening the wingnut up but it justs spins and spins  Has anyone replaced this part? What do I need to do? And are Nissan likely to stock it? Cheers :) Pete

Hi All I'm about to replace my downpipes with some stainless ones (due to that little branch pipe leaking) and just wantde to know if it is an emmission control pipe of some sort, and if you just block it off or vent it to atmosphere after the new pipes are fitted? I'm guessing that's what the pipe is... Thanks!

Warning for newbies........... Nissan UK get parts form Japan, double the price and sell them to ppl in the UK. TOP TIP - It's far cheaper to order Nissan OEM parts from Japan and have them imported. Make this sticky ?:D
