I contacted Valvoline with my concerns over using their 5-50 fully synthetic oil - here is their reply: "Good morning John and thank you for your enquiry which has reached my attention here in the UK via Valvoline International routings. In response to your question - you should not be concerned - certainly the oil may appear to be "thin" at normal ambient temperature (due to the SAE 5W rating). Additionally the light colour associated with poly alpha-olefinic basestock upon which this "hightec." product is formulated - will also add to the impression. You can be assured that Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W/50 is fully compliant with the visco…

The other week I spent 2 late nights painting my f/callipers black. I'm pleased with the results. But just an idea if anyone is considering doing it. There has been lots of ideas what to do with the Nissan logo on them. Well what I did was painted around the logo, filling in part in between the letters etc. then when the paint had hardened, the next day I masked aroung the logo and sanded off the raised logo carefully. It came out very well that way and looks a lot better than trying to highlight the letters with white calliper paint or something. But don't ask for a pic, because I've put on the wheels and can't be bothered taking it off again. Anyway I hope…

Anyone here used Nemesis in Colchester? They had an incredible stand at Max Power live including a modded 350Z. They specialise in Jap cars and have done work on 300ZXs. Geoff.

:mad: 1. I dropped the radiator air outlet screw down the gap to the left of the radiator  Can see it but can't reach it and it's all hard pipes down there . I'll have to see if I can find one of those long wiry grappling tools tomorrow, or source another screw from Nissan (very doubtful - I'm sure it's an "Import Screw" or something equally as dumb and ridiculous!) 2. I spent a good half hour fannying around taking apart the dash, swapping the duff autobox dash bulb with a good one only to put it all together and there's 2 rows of bulbs - WTF?? What do the top row do, above the HICAS one? I thought I'd moved the HICAS bulb one place to the l…

Evening all, O.K, so i've finally established that the bitch is now in PERMANENT safety boost, by disconnecting and reconnecting boost gauge for a more accurate reading (twas t-pieced with stock one) and it seems she is deffo only pushing 7psi - not the required 9 for pi$$ing of beemers and the like. SO......what am I to do in order to rectify this, code 55 and all else o.k ??? Have done extensive search and so many different opinions/contradictions. Can anyone offer me a difinitive guide as to what needs to be done to return to 9. Dont much fancy the resistor trick (not enough confidence) and still dont fully understand what causes it to happen, or why…

Hello, I am looking for an unmolested Z32 TT, auto, UK car, nice colour, leather and full electrics. I don't want massive mileage but more important is a car that will run for 12-24months without any problems. How much can I expect to pay? Not forum driver inflated prices (I know what it's like, everyone here and on any drivers forum will think their cars are worth more than they are, the same goes for me :) ) but prices I can expect to pay for a tidy example from a trader forecourt or possibly an enthusiast. I want a Z32 but I don't want it off the road for a year because I can't afford new turbos or something has gone hideously wrong :) Thanks for yo…

Hi, First post here, long time lurker :). I'm planning to buy a TT sometime in the future, currently thinking of buying a mechanically sound one and then smartening it up with new leather interior, trim parts, '99 spec body kit and perhaps a respray if necessary. I've been looking around for a place that sells the whole '99 spec kit - front bumper/splitter, skirts, rear - perhaps as a bundled buy to save a bit. Not quite sure about the spoiler though, I quite like the neatness of the tailgate skin. Has anyone here gone for the full '99 spec, and if so where did you order from and are you happy with the result? I see that the 99 bumper/splitter is very …

Driving home the other day, sun shining, T-bar off, tunes pumped up, noticed an odd racket. Turned the music off and theres an almight clacking and rattling coming from the back. Swiftly check gauges, OK, into neutral rev the engine, sweet, slow down and stop the racket stopped. Round the car and it turns out the abortion of a rear fog lamp that was fitted when I bought the car has sheered off on its mountings and was dangling by its cable onto the floor (not surprised it was making a racket, but was VERY surprized it was in one piece!!). Any my question is this - I never liked that bloody ugly light hanging down, so is there a conversion that I can do to make a coup…

The auto box in my old thunder has possibly seen its last few days. What I`m wondering is this: If you had the choice, what would you do: 1/ Replace with stock auto box 2/ Replace with fast road rebuild auto box 3/ Go for a manual conversion I love the marriage of auto with the Z32 engine and am very tempted by feedback on the fast road rebuild. What do you all think?

I started my car up today and about 10 mintues later my temp gauge went all funny it started bouncing up and down. It didnt go higher then the middle but it went up and down quite crazily it was like it was just shooting up and down and then it would stop doing it. I checked the water and it was fine, so i carried on driving and throughout the day it would do the same on and off. I took it to my local mechanic and he said its probably some sort of electric problem iv got the car booked in with an auto electrician and he says its either 3 things the gauge itself, corroded wiring (or bad earth) or faulty temp sensor. I just wantet to know if any1 else …

Hi All, I've had a nasty clunking noise from the front disc/caliper/wheel area when applying the brakes in reverse ever since I bought my Z 18 months ago. I've tried various things, tightening the front tie bars helped a bit but I still have a problem :-( It's as though the calipers or pads are jolting when the brakes are applied (in reverse at low speed). Is this likely/possible?? Anyone else have a similar problem/suggest a cure? Thanks in advance!! RobH
