General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Having taken the radiator out of my import series 1 auto TT, I have been advised to go for the Autobox extra radiator upgrade. So please what is your personal experiance - 1. Does it work / is it worth it? 2. Is the Zcentre kit the only source/ whats the alternative? 3. Are there instructions posted somewhere on the web? p.s. I have done a search but not uncovered these details but if this has already been done to death then please point we in the right direction! Thanks in advance

I've been reading some of the rides on the board and you guys with autos have uprated the box, how and why, might do it myself before a blow the bottom out of mine with my concrete right foot so what you had done?

we have just found out that our diepham has gone on our blitz dump valve ,so we are going 2 have 2 get 2 new dump valve, but we dont know wot make 2 get or wot is the best 2 have on a jap import 300zx with stage 2 turbos any i dears?????? cant find a good web page about dump valves. PLZ SOME 1 HELP US :confused: :rolleyes: :) here are the 1s weve been told about HKS . APEXI . BLITZ . TURBOXS . GREDDY.

I need the 2 outer sills, as 163,000 miles of UK weather and loads of jack damage, not by me!, has left my outer sills in a ver bad condition. Where can I get outer sills from? The whole length thing. I looked on US sites but the only thing I could find where "Renforcemtent outer sills" is that what I need? If so they didnt give any option for 2+2 or 2 seater because they must be different sizes. I asked Nissan UK for them and they wanted £188+VAT each side, and if these renforcement sills are the things I need, they are $40 each. Maybe because they are a lot more common there. So does any one know where I can get the entire outer sill from. I could patch…

anyone know where i can get a set of intake plenum hoses, i.e. the ones for the water etc. had to cut some when striping the engine now i cant find the part numbers! anyonegot the numbers or even better a set of hoses they want to sell???? Thanks People Mathew 'mtl' levett

Out driving last night and my car no longer boosts past 1.17 bar WTF?? It was running fine, stopped to put some fuel in, and after that no more 1.3 bar..... Any suggestions?? Pete, have you been sticking pins into a model of my car??:rolleyes: ;)

Hi, I test drove a '93 TT Manual yesterday. Seemed a pretty nice car, little tatty but that's to be expected I 'spose. On the way back to the dealers though, the car started to make a low rattly/rumble noise. It only happened when I accelerated in second at low speed (Speed bumps!!) and only lasted for a short while. The noise seemed to be coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. Anyone got any idea's what this could be? Oh, anyone had any experience/ knowledges of Zubimotors of Stoneleigh?? Horror stories or praise?? Any help much appreciated. Cheers Guy

I changed my oil today with mobil 1 motorsport. i also added slick 50, I then did a search on slick 50, opps, what shall i do?????

Today, After driving 50 miles in a round trip, I was out of the car for around 10 mins (with the engine off), then when I got back, and started her up, the temp gauge was nearly through the roof. Is this usual, and is the engine made for this, or is it something to get sorted as last year she overheated and it took 3 months & 3k to get her back. Cheers Daz:confused:

Just thought I would let you know I've had my ring gear rotated!!! Anyone make sense of this, apparently my ring gear was looking a little worse for wear in three places but instead of renewal my local nissan trained garage has advised rotating it so although not the ideal solution it should be much better. (only screeched a few times in the last six months) From what I can see this means the ring gear seems to stop in the same three places. Please correct me if I'm wrong so rotating a few degrees should help extra life!!!!!!! No "sounds painful" replies please :D

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone knows where i can get the bit of metal strip ontop of the engine that says" 3000 V6 TWIN CAM), only i took mine off to spray it and basically its knackered! Ok I stop today after a 10 minutes steady drive and noticed a smell of smoke filling the cockpit, got out and checked the exhaust.... no smoke, went to get back in car and noticed a plume of smoke on the drivers side bonnet so I popped the lid. The smoke wasnt coming from the engine bay but rather from the wheel arch, close inspection behind the panel saw that smoke was building up there when stationary (where AIVs are located). It smells like oily exhaust smoke. Im going to strip back there tomorrow and take a closer look, but has anyone experienced this before?

I have just joined the forum after recently buying a jap spec 300zx TT Tbar Manual. Thought I got it at a good price, 4,750. But now I know there was a reason for that. It has a few mods, twin blow off valves, turbo timer, single exit exhaust, 17" rims (the main reason I brought it, they're lovely) and a speedo that reads up to 300mph!!!! Just had it fully serviced, cam belt and plugs etc, couple of dents fixed and the front tie bar bushes and centre prop bush replaced as well as a cat 1 alarm. A nice bill of 2,700 for my trouble, gulp. My question is that it has a quick shift gear lever fitted which is quite difficult to get into gear. Is this normal because it is …

What is the average price for these from a UK dealer and what other parts do u need or are advised to replace when fitting these? Do u need an uprated fuel pump? If so any recommendations?

have just been looking into 2 problems! 1) smoke from o/s bank on idle 2) intermittant high idle just removed manilold balance pipe etc and found puddles of oil in manifold! is this due to blocked pcv valves? can i remove and clean them? where are they? any help appceciated!

Does anyone have an unorthodox underdrive pulley fitted? I have been reading about the crankshaft vibration that is associated with lightweight underdrive pulley due to the lack of damping. Does this destroy engines/has anyone with one ever had any problems? These claim a serious power gain for just a pulley on the TT, some figures as high as 37bhp! If that is true, im a little bit sceptical about that, why doesnt everybody have them?

How do you remove the plastic covered metal trim pieces (at targa top area and down each windscreen pillar ?) I have used Armour All to try and renovate them, but they still dont look that good, so I want to take them off and spray them with Plasti-kote. Thanks John

Also quite fancy changing the inside of the lights to silver instead of the dull grey,anyone tried it,is it easy to take the glass off,i've tried but can't even get the fooking light out????????

Anyone noticed when the roof is off and the window isn't fully up or down it rattles??? Am i missing something on my car?

i seem to have to top my water up on a weekly basis just lately it doesnt appear to be leaking to the road anywhere so where is it going. the oil seems pretty normal, no white sludge or anything, power seems normal also, it has always seemed to run a tad rich, and get crappy mpg, the heater works and it doesnt overheat or anything, i do get the normal white vapour on start up which can turn to darker colour which indicates the rich running i presume. ive done a seach and rad that pcv and fuel daigphram might help, but it doesnt explain where the waters going.

Might as well drain and refill the manual box I'm fitting. How much does it hold?

Just ran over a badger & was inspecting for damage under the bonnet & noticed a disconnected conector (not badger related). it is top left corner & goes into a square thing with a tube coming out that in turn goes to a round thing. (clear!!!!) What is it? AND should i plug it in?
