Anyone know if Castrol Magnatec is available in 10-50 ? Costco sell the Magnatec 10-40 for about £14. I bought some Valvilene 5-50 the other week, but Im reluctant to use it, thinking it is a bit too thin. I have heard of extra noise and oil leaks with 5w oils, are these true ? Thanks John

Hi folks, Just been out in the zed about 30 miles or so and it was behaving like poo :( Don't know if it is engine or autobox related, can you help? Some background: Did some work on it on Saturday - SE chip, boost jets to 12psi, adjusted TBs to open fully, replaced all pcv hoses and valves. The day of the work the car was amazing :) But tonight very strange things happened: On ignition the "Power" light on the dash blinked 5 or 6 times. The idle was up to 2000rpm. The engine had a different, almost whiney, noise to it, the pitch rising with the revs. Driving it, the car felt breathless and hesistated and the revs jumped around 2500 to 1000 up and…

Hi folks, think there may be a 'problem' with the zed, and looking for opinions?? Have noticed last few weeks that when i have no music on, and turn the car off, I immediatly hear what I can only describe as a very subtle ''whooshhhhhhup'' very similiar to a bottle of pop being opened. Only noticed it because I am now garaging the car at night and it is more audiable?? So, is this the norm for the zed (havn't noticed before) and what if anything shall i do to check if it is a problem, code55 and all o.k at the moment with her, i.e, boosting nice, nice idle etc.etc. fanx vicky x x p.s - no granny scarers(BOV's) fitted

I have straight through to rear jap cans now. would defo recomend removing cats!!! Mine has only done 39,000 so turbo seals should be okey for 20,000 hopefully........................................ Hello my friends, I 'm back again withanother question! Whats the best way to change the oil filter? According to the diagrams in the manual it looks very hard to reach. I was searching the site for answers to this and got the impression that the pressure gauge can be crazy! I think this is our problem, is it "normal" for the guage to tell lies, or change its mind ie go from 4 to zero to 4 agian while idling?

Help required please. I now own my dream of twelve years, an imported t/t 2+2. I have recently performed an oil and filter change (Castrol RS 10/60), and am now noticing the auxillary fan is coming on earlier than previously, although the temperature gauge is not showing an excessive amount. I've trawled the threads for information, but would like further advice please. There is no loss of coolant at all, but I have had to top up the level. I have found the top hose in to the radiator to be hot but not pressurised, and the left hand side (facing the engine) to be hotter than the right. I am unable to "force" any further water in to the system though. A…

Hi guy's I was driving the other night - no great speed (70 on an a-road with the cruise on) and noticed the oil pressure was down near zero. So I went through a village and thought I'll give her some to see if it goes up so I did and it didn't even reach the first mark! So I stopped at a garage and bouhght some oil and topped up (took about 3/4 of a litre) drove up the dual carriageway and still the same. After about 5 miles the guage shot up to about 60. Then on the way home it was down again. Now do I have a major problem or is the gauge just a bag of s***e!? Ivan

After reading posts and general coments and advice on front and rear strut bars it appears that CARBING are general regarded as the better. Some USA sites ie Courtesyparts have cheaper struts, are they anygood ie fit etc or likely to cause dents in the bonnet? So, about to order both F&R CARBING from SGP Racing in the states at a cost of 265USD each +p&p + vat once here no doubt. Looked for pricing elsewhere and this seems avearge. Looking at the TTZ Performance site in Aussie, they have a varied selection and wondered if anyone has tried them. Shane

Hello there folks, Been doing some research into possible replacing the turbos on my car. Some specialists say that they can repair my turbos (seals and bearings) for approx. £150 + VAT The other option is to get full exchange units at approx. £475 - £500 each. I've phoned a number of people including Silvia Engineering, Turbo Technics and Universal turbos. Does anyone have experience of using exchange turbos from any of these companies? There is a huge amount of labour associated with changing the turbos so I don't want to go to all the expense of getting sub standard parts and then having to do the whole job over again ! Any advice / comments w…

Hi Guys & Gals, My baby has stopped starting (Davey man) - I need some advise! Very recently the alarm has started to go off intermittently. Then on Sunday I took advantage of the lack of rain to give her a loving wash and all she would do was click at me!! However, she will start purrfectly and straight away with a jump-start. I disconnected the battery and charged it all day, cleaned the connections, and reconnected, but all she would give me is clickety, click. Jump-start again fine though! I had the battery checked by the local motor factors, and he thinks its fine??! The internal battery indicator says thats the case also! So if…

Firstly, thanks to all those who offered condolences on the untimely death of my Zed last week. I'm still feeling the pain but it’s comforting to know I'm not the only daft sod who has gone backwards off a roundabout and killed their pride and joy. I'm hoping to get rejoin the world of zed ownership as soon as possible but need to get through the insurance business and work out what my options are. Realistically, what is the pay out I should be looking for, for a '90 jap import NA in fine mechanical order (96k km) ? If it is written off, and I am inclined to do anything with it (possibly just use it for parts) what is the sort of price I should be hagglin…

Driving the Zed today and came to a set of lights. While stopped, I heard something clunk and the revs shot up to 2K at rest. At the same time, (while driving away) noticed that the car had suddenly started to oversteer. On the way home from the office just, the revs have returned to normal levels at rest but the rear end is still oversteering. Is there any way these two could be connected or did I just get two failures at once? I have had the front tie rod bushes andrear shockers replaced but the car has always been a little sloppy. Any help appreciated as I am VVV confused right now.:(
