Rad Upgrade for Auto

Having taken the radiator out of my import series 1 auto TT, I have been advised to go for the Autobox extra radiator upgrade.

So please what is your personal experiance -

1. Does it work / is it worth it?

2. Is the Zcentre kit the only source/ whats the alternative?

3. Are there instructions posted somewhere on the web?

p.s. I have done a search but not uncovered these details but if this has already been done to death then please point we in the right direction!

Thanks in advance

Give Jeff a call at Zedworld.

He's currently doing mine. I bought an upgrade rad from a place that MAC told me about (very nice upgrade and cheaper than Nissan stock by more than £100!!)

Plus having another smaller rad for the autobox to keep that cool.

It was explained to me that the rad in the auto cools the engine and the autobox and becuse the rad is at about 90 degrees it helps the autobox do nothing apart from run hot and perish!!

With the new rad and the new smaller rad for the autobox (plus 99 spec front end) this will allow loads more cold air in and have my autobox and engine running loads cooler.

So in spending a little bit extra than on a stock Nissan replacement (not including 99 spec ;) ) I am getting a worthwhile upgrade that will keep my autobox running longer and everything running cooler.

Matty.

And to answer your questions;

1. Does it work / is it worth it? MAC is running it! It will work.

2. Is the Zcentre kit the only source/ whats the alternative? Call Jeff at Zedworld, he's doing mine. He'll give you some advice.

3. Are there instructions posted somewhere on the web? Not that I know of.

:D

Matty.

Thanks for that. Since I got the rad out myself I am hoping to do the upgrade myself. So the advice I need is what to buy and from where and a description of how to fit it. Thanks

Just had a thought what fluid is cooled by the autobox radiator, and by removing the radiator how much will I have lost and how do I replace it?

Thanks

I know of some, coz I wrote 'em;

You'll lose negligable fluid, but the new cooler will hold much more than the old setup - you add ATF via the autobox dipstick tube. Make sure you check the level while hot, and after running the selector lever through all gears (letting each engage) and then returning to park (engine running).

Nice one Az...........:D

Arron that is great! I notice that you have changed the fixing of the ATF cooler looks a lot simpler than making ally brackets.

Many Many thanks
