Leaky Pipe to turbo

Morning all...

Got a bit of a problem that I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some advice on.....the water feed pipe to one of my turbos is leaking, and given that its impossible to get to, I've got two choices:

1) Get the gearbox out, replace the pipe, job's a good 'un

2) Bypass the current pipe, but in doing this I believe that it may (or may not?) have a small detrimental affect to the turbo?

Thought I'd seen something like this here before, and I thought that bypassing wasn't a problem. What do you guys think?

Cheers

Which side is it? you may well be able to get to it to replace it. However, as you say you CAN bypass the turbo water cooling. Not seen any bad effects of this so far but there's always a first time I suppose. Most cooling of the turbo IMO is done by the oil anyway.....

Cheers Andy,

It's on the right rear side of the engine (passenger side). Pretty awkward. Just didn't want to knacker my turbo, but at the same time didn't want the cost of getting the gearbox out for a £1.50 pipe.

Might well try the bypass, and take my chances.

For some strange reason SE bypassed the water cooling on my turbos when head gaskets done 15 months ago.

Not seen any obvious directly related probelms yet.
