I need to change my gearbox and was wondering if it is fairly straight forward. Also does anyone know if an import auto box is the same as a UK spec one.

Have any of you guys replaced your wiring? Mine's pretty screwed and I was considering doing this with a part from the US (left hand drive) There's a guide here and it's doesn't seem impossible but I am pretty hopeless under the bonet (took me 2 hours to upgrade the air filter). my zeds down now going on a week . one of the hoses on steering pump pissing . awaiting a replacement from courtesy . dam i miss my zed... i shouldnt be so attached to a car . but christ its a zed..... hopefully ill be smiling soon...

Just wondering....... how much heat comes up from underneath the car. Its just that when i sit at traffic lights etc i can actualy seat the heat waves rising up the out side of the window. Is this normal? :confused: When i open the door with the engine running i can even feel heat on my legs. Another thing that seems to get very warm is the transmition tunnel. Is this caused by the gear box. Im going to put a cooler conversion on the gearbox cooler as its a jap import. Any thing else i can do to help?? Jonce

OK, Thought I had sorted my clutch probs but they have reappeared! Here are the symptoms: When the car gets hot, and I come to a standstill i.e. in traffic, I can't get into any gear. I turn the engine off put it into gear and it starts off then the clutch will start slipping going down the road! I stop let the car cool down and it is back to normal! Also when driving it normally the biting point keeps on changing! Here is the spec, OS gilken twin carbon fibre plate clutch and flywheel! New thrust bearing Uprated Jun pivot ball SS clutch hose New Slave and Master cylinders Clutch booster tanks bypassed! Probably about five litres …

I got my clutch replaced today and have literally just picked the car up from the garage and run it home. The problem I have is that the gearstick is now sitting 2 inches to the left of where it did originally and therefore the gear position is now too far forward and left. I'm 6 foot but like to sit nice and far back, but on the way home there I had to bring the seat forward just to be reaching, without stretching for 1st 3rd and 5th. I kept catching my fingers against the clock, so that give you an idea of how far it is forward. Hi U guys. Intermittent speedo, mostly stays at zero and sometimes starts working OK. When speedo stops so does the trip counter & Odometer. Speedo head already changed with another used one, didn't cure the problem. Is it the speed sensor. 1992 Non Turbo import Any clues?

To get the front of the car up with a trolley jack where's best to lift car. I use the towing eye but it sort of offsets the car - I want it up evenly or is it a case of one towing eye and one side of the car at a time?

Took the car out last night for it's first outing down the M4.........bugger me this car's fast!!! Had a 928 Porsche which i thought was quick then went for a non turbo 300zx liked it but got bored.......sold it got a lovely UK TT and have to say it's faster than my old 928.....the pick up from 80 to 140 was amazing!!!! Anyway i notice the the cruise light comes on in the dash and i can hear a relay switch in but when i press the switch on the steering wheel nothing happens???? Any ideas Cheers

Last night I went over a ramp at the usual required speed of 0.01mph to avoid hitting anything, but still grounded out behind the front wheel somewhere. :cry: I now have smoke coming out and on closer inspection have a leak of blue/green coloured liquid. I asusme it's coolant, but could it be anythign else? It def leaks more when the engine's been running at high revs. Anyone know what I'm likely to have damaged? To add to the leak and resulting smoke, I've lost two bolts out of a support nearer the back of the car, well at least I assume it's just a support!!! Any advice or help would be appreciated as I dont want to drive home if it's not safe! …

My car has been out of action for 9 months and spent most of that time in a body shop. Now the car seems really slow and the box takes for ever to change gear. My Volvo T5R pi55es all over it and it never used to. Gave the car a service etc before using her. Had a friend look at it and he thinks that the exhaust could be holding it back. He said he's had this before with the autos on Z's. "If ya dump the exhaust of and the box works properly and car revs freely". Could he be write its showing 1bar boost but it just aint happening. :cry:

hi...had my zed for about 3 months..dont really know much about them so if anyone can help i would be most gratefull..right start from the begining...I decided to put slick 50 in to the car..about a couple of days later when i booted the car it started to smoke...saw the reports on the group so decided to drop the oil out (magnatec) and put in some castrol rs 15-60 ran this for a couple of day (engine still smoked) but the car ran sweet..oil pressure was good basically everything spot on other than smoking when driving hard...Then yesterday it got bad on the way home it stated smoking bad..ie cars behind where having to put there lights on...When i got home it had blown t…
