General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Got an irritating slight misfire most noticeable at 2000 or less rpm in top just when you accelerate gently. Check about everything I can think of. The engine has one shiny new looking O2 sensor that flashes really quick on the diagnostic. The other looks old and makes flashes very slowly but still manages 5 or whatever per 10 seconds. Is this the lazy O2 sensor causing the problem or is the problem somewhere else?

Spotted a met grey z in Garsington, Oxford. Reg ** OUFC. Anyone here? Take it they support Oxford United!

Has anyone been able to buy the rear lower control arm ball joint- the one that fits into the underside of the wheel bearing housing. I know that it is possible to buy the complete arm- but it’s very expensive (£182 + VAT). I have tried Mike at MJP, but he is unable to supply just the ball joint. I know that "Moog" can supply the same item for the 240SX, which looks exactly the same. Perhaps they may even be able to supply the correct part, but I have been unable to find out- so far!

hi can any1 help me ? where are the knock sensors located and is ther 1 or 2 of them

hi everybody just wanting to know where the knock sensors are situated on my 300zx engine . is there just 1 or is there 2 of them also has any body got any as they are about £184 :shock:

Anyone know of any scrapped Z's in South Essex area? I know someone mentioned this before but wouldn't it make a good form subject? sxoc have one, usefull when I owened a 200.

just took th car up to huddersfield and back yesterday and the smoke problem is doing my head in now so jus thought id see wot everyone thinks the problem could be, wot i have noticed: 1) driving at constant speed (eg 80mph) then releasing th accelarator, after about 5 seconds i get some white smoke out the back, when accelerating again a whole load of white smoke comes out then it clears up 2) if i rev the car in neutral and keep it at a constant rpm above 2000 after a while white smoke starts coming out th exhaust 3) if a rev th car to say 5000rpm then let it drop straight away i get white smoke about 5 secs after it settles to idle rpm again, this is all…

Well that what i think if got. It rattles and doesnt sound right. Anyway, does anybody know someone decent in the midlands (near coventry) that i can take my car to. cheers

I've seen on here the other week, where someone recomended what to clean the TB's with. I've done a few serches, but cant find it :confused: So, what is the best stuff to use, and any tips? I beleive that in the post the person said not to use carb cleaner?!?! Cheers guys :hyper:

Just wondering if anyone has some advise? When pulling away, with about half throttle in second gear the acceleration isn't smooth. Feels like i keep lifting off the throttle a little but the foot is rock solid . By the way it's an auto box. Any ideas :bow:

Hi Guys n Gals, Just bought myself a 1990 Jap spec TT but have had a possible problem pop up which i hope somebody can shed light on. When i have been sat in stop start traffic for say 30 mins and then get to an open bit of road, i stick my foot down and it seems to be in saftey boost. The boost seems fine in all other driving conditions apart from this. Any idea's? (Caused me to get blown away by a Golf VR6) Also, do you guys know where i should take my car for any work in Bristol. Hi, just wondering. I know usually when the speedo on an import is converted,that it usually derestrict the 112mph limit. Now are these cars still subject to the 155mph limit that the uk cars have, and if not, how far up the speedo will they reach? :confused:

When it's wet or if I do a fully blown take off in the dry with lots of wheel spin, I tend to get a lot of axle tramp. Does anyone know a way to solve this without having to remove the rear subframe to get to its bushes? Managed to fit my new wheels today on the Z. Just wanted to post up some pics so whoever may be interested can take a look. The wheels are the Asev AS split rim and I really think they look great on the car. I had them refurbished at lepsons and I can't knock the quality at all. Cheers Chris

Right i was offered some OZ wheels in white but prob was, was that the studs don't align can you buy a spacer or somthing which will make them line up as they are really tasty and sooooo cheap

After having lot's of fun clearing out my front indicators can anybody tell me where I can get these clear bulbs as I really don't fancy having an amber bulb in the indicator. Cheers Chris

I attempted to fill up the air con last night as i was filling it there was a hissing noise coming out from the front right of the engine. Is this a problem anyone has heard of? I have also noticed that there is no belt on the Air Con Compressor.

hi my 300zx which is a uk manual twin turbo want go over 2000rpm what can it be anyone? and yes even up to 2000rpm it miss fireing :confused:
