Guys, i know this might weel sound stupid but start as i mean to go on...How do you measure the exhaust bore diameter and where should i be measuring it from? The tail pipes ive got are 4", the pipes out the back of the sliencer to the centre box are 3"..is this the 'bore'? Reason is i was told all i need are new silencers so i was gonna order them from zedcentre but i cant find anything thats 2/2.25" bore??? Feel free to abuse me with 'are you stupid or what' messages!

Hallo all, thanks to Eric / Danny and the Conzult at Billing I now know I need to replace the knock sensor and the two O2 sensors. B*gger. I take it the O2 sensors are the same thing as wot the manual calls Exhaust gas sensor (EF & EC-16). I have found the immensely helpful basic procedure for plenum removal here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=30838 thanks to the immensely helpful andyduff. 1) I did the pcv valves and hoses last year - do you think I'll get away without redoing them now? 2) If so, from andyduff's list, I need turbo bypass kit upper-lower intake gasket throttle body gasket x 2 IACV gasket EGR ga…

I have a 1990 300zx and after my 18 year old son (with my help and guildance) changed the stocked bose am/fm cassette deck over to a really nice Panasonic am/fm/cd and I (still) can not get my regular or non-highbeam headlights to work. The fuse is ok, and I can feel/here the dimmer relay in the engine tcompartment toggle when I turn the headlight switch on and off, but I measured 0 voltages at the plug going to the light bulb itself. Does anyone know where I can view a detail schmatic of the headlight system for my year Z, or, is anyone familiar with this problem? There is a possibility that the Illumination control siginal/wire might have something to do with this?! …

Having a reocurring prob with the Z, seems whenever it goes on a long drive (1-1.5hrs) puts itself in safety boost, won't boost over 5psi. Got home had a brew, did an ecu check......code 55....all clear? seems if its run for more than an hour or so, it goes to safety boost? Recently had some issues with O2 connectors/sensors, had a conzult all clear though. Any ideas guys?

Hi- please can someone clarify- T25s are std on zeds? if so, I read somewhere that T28s are almost identical and are std fit on 200sx. Does this mean they can be fitted to a Z? (Allowing for the fact the Z's have slight differences from left to right/ wastegate actuator fitting etc and 2 X 200sx tubs would be the same and need some slight modifying to fit) Is it possible? Worth the trouble? Any advantage over std? Thanks Leonard

Ok not Nissan but Ford. Shes got a Fiesta 1.25 Zetec S. Starts runs fine, but soon as you touch the accel peddle the engine revs drop right down. Checked for leaks, fitted new Idle control valve... Ford furoms are a waste of time. Any help appreciated. I have just serviced it but the problem was there before, the only thing I did not change was the fuel filter, doing doing that now. I does seem like fuel or air issue! Rossy

Installed a pair of ApexI's yesterday. Seemed to go ok - sounded nice :D, car stalled every time it dumped  but hey there's no such thing as a free lunch right? Then I'm driving to work at night and the next thing I know I look down to see the engine temperature on MAXIMUM, the bloody POWER light flashing and water pissing out over the road behind me! Luckily I was pulling into the car park so I cut the engine pretty sharpish. Lifted the bonnet and the engine sounded like it was BBQing itself. Let it cool down (obviously), filled up with water and left overnight. In the morning it hadnt lost any water and it ran ok (bar the erratic idle even tho I…

I get a bit of a vibration from around 40 mph to around 70 mph (a bit unsure as the speedo keeps packing up (yet to fix(any ideas on the speedo intermittant problem)). Might this be a prop shaft bearing, I'm sure it's not wheel balancing, it seems to be more of a higher frequency  if you get me drift !

what should be normal oil pressure at normal temp at idle (is the stock pressure guage crap 'cus i have an after market one that says around 2, a bit more than the stock one) What about normal running temp, the stock one is about 1/2 way but the after market one dosn't go much over 80 - 90 C. one more, if braking to a full stop and applying the hand brake, after releasing the foot brake, does your Z move forward/backward on the hand brake, sorry, had a few beers :duffer:

Anyone ever experimented with trying to quieten their Stainless Exhaust System. At last I am gonna get the exhaust on my car made up, its gonna be 3.5 inch bore from the Cats to a Y-Pipe going to a single silencer which is 2 inch straight through. I dont want it to be really noisey, anyone ever put baffle's in the system pipework, if so what size, etc. Cheers John Crisp

Hi all. After some advise again!! Just had an oild seal replaced on the rear of my sump. They had to drop the gearbox to do it. Anyway, I was driving home after picking it up when i heard a strange noise. Sounded like it was sucking air or something and also had a slight rattle. nearly got home when i lost all drive. may aswell have been in nuetral. had to push it a couple of hundred meters ( i was *#*#ed). Any ideas? It's obviously going back but don't want them pulling the old "that was nothing to do with us" ploy!

Hello, I should be looking to sell my convertible soon and buy my first 300zx. I am looking at getting an imported NA manual. What are the performance figures on these from you owners? I have read the stats are about 230 bhp, and 7 0-60 time. But how do you guys who have bought the car and drive it feel? Is it slow is it a let down or a dissapointment? I would like a TT but i dont think i could justify - or afford the petrol costs from a 12mpg car lol... however i did notice insurance wise that a TT would cost me a bit LESS to insure then a na! (TT being a UK model).. Cheers for your help
