General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I'm going to put on some new tyres very soon. At present I have some very old Pirelli P700s on but they are not very round any more, possibly causing a vibration. I have some after market rims on that came with the car when I first got it. They are stamped as 'Nissan' on the alloy surface itself and have a centre disc with the name SPARTAN on it. Does anyone know anything about them? The main problrm is the size. They rim is marked 16 x 6 1/2 JJ. and has a 205/55/16 tyre on it. Will this rim take the more usual Jap Spec 225 tyres? Also, Phil from CS Woods commented that the rear wheel could do with a spacer to 'fill in the rear arches a bit more' Are these …

I brought some blue glow dials from america and i need some help/advice on how to sort the calibration. I've got a import Z32 NA, They look like the right ones ( one dial hasnt got boost cut out) My query is this........ My car has normal jap clocks with 190 kph max speed but has a converter on it so it now reads the kph in mph (still with original clocks, needles etc). My new dials have 160 mph and something like 220/240 kph on them. If i change the dials straight over will the speedo be correct or shall i take the conversion off??? I've compared the 2 speedo's next to each other and all 3 readings dont match. Anyone got any ideas??? :confused: :headvs…

After some top advice from this forum, I'm going to replace the one-way valve in my fuel pump. I hope this will sort the problem I have when sometimes the car's slow to fire up. Anyone taken a fuel pump to bits? Any advice? Or advice on taking the fuel pump out? Thanks in advance!

My garage has just replaced my type 1 PTU with a type 2. Now my HID lights do not operate properly. I've been told there is no connection but anyone got any ideas? When I turn on the sidelights 1 headlight and 2 sidelight come on. When I turn on the headlights I get the other headlight and 1 mainbeam, and the main beam switch doesn't work. They were working fine before the electricians got hold :xxx: All advice (even bad) is appreciated :)

I have read many posts in advanced tuning about spending several £K on internal engine mods.... :dance: If only I had the money :( But the engine is coming out for Tub replacment and I'm interested in a list in order of priority/cost of things to replace. My current plan goes like this Tub's....Ouch ! PCV's.....got O2 sensors....got fix me dead knock sensor.... hoping just a dead loom Remove AGR.... yet to learn Remove AIV.... yet to learn The list could be endless but with budjet in mind what else is a good idea. Hi! I am trying to trace a dodgy idle, and having started to do the throttle bodies, which were so clean it looked like they'd been done yesterday, I started on cleaning all the connectors. Then I stopped for fear of them falling appart in my hands! So I am going to get new harneses from Courtesy for the ignition coils and the injectors. :dance: Do they both need splicing in? Or just the ignition coil harness? Is it a nightmare job to splice them in? :( Cheers

Just changed my spark plugs on the 90zx (jap import) and on the left handside engine bank all three were fouled up with oil. However with the engine running there is no blue smoke coming from the respective exhaust!, Is it gonna be expensive?

Poly ones, delrin ones or Ally subframe replacement bushings?? :slap: Want to replace these over the next few weeks and not sure which to go for, anyone recommend which is best and where to get a set from..... ;) cheers Jon.

Finally got the gauges working that were fitted in my car when i bought it :dance: The guages are reading WATER TEMP 150-160 F OIL TEMP 190 F OIL PRESSURE 2000revs=50psi 4000revs=85-90psi and on cold start with new oil and filter 100plus psi My question being , does this sound about right , cars a jap tt with about 75000 miles I had a look in the search bit but most temps are quoted in celcius :slap: cheers Allan

Car Audio bod swopped out the existing head unit for my Sony head unit and CD changer - also the front speakers for my JBLs. All worked fine. In the intervening years, changed rear speakers to Kenwood and added Pioneer active sub. All fine - all speakers worked no worries. - old Sony went ...... bought new Sony. Installer installed - said it was just a plug-out / plug-in job. Front speakers OK, sub OK, 10 mins down the road, rear speakers go buzzzzzzzzzz (music still playing). Head unit error "FAILURE" on screen - RTFM says due to power …

Hi Guys. I picked up my Zed this morning (Jap TT).. I'm still a bit new to it all, lots of previous experience with other performance cars all manuals. So could someone give me a quick rundown on what all the gizmos do on my gearbox. 1) Overdrive 2) TA Switch - Hold, Power and in between. I've got a vague idea what everything does, but you are the experts, so I'll let you go into detail to put my mind at ease. Also - What's the most economical setting for pottering around?
