Have just completed a cambelt change on the Z for the first time. Bought the kit from Courtesy including new tensioner, pulleys etc. I followed the tensioning instruction according to the TTnet procedure. I.e. 4mm gap on tensioner after 2 rotations. Now I assume the preload on the tensioner is correct and checked by Nissan? Is there a more precise way of checking the actual belt tension? Once reassembled the engine now seems to produce a slight whirling sound which suggest to me maybe the belt is too tight, I have eliminated all auxiliaries and fan. Car has done 100 miles since belt change. If this whirling sound is a common thing that goes away after a little runnin…

Saw a Black Z in Hitchin going towards Henlow today (22/1/05). Looked like it had a funky exhaust fitted. I was waiting for a new tyre to be fitted so if you saw my car inside STS tyres congratulations: you have the eyes of a ninja eagle cyborg.

Car has been fine, last night we wired up the ApexiSAFC and found that there is a dodgy earth pin on the ECU (not the main earth but the one the SAFC goes to). We are gonna redo the connection on sunday - and everything works fine in the car. Im driving down to plymouth today in HEAVY rain, and when i give it 100% throttle it gets to about 5000 rpm and starts misfiring, in every gear. I slowed down and gave it about 50 percent throttle and it went right up to 7000rpm no problems. It might just be a coincidence with the fact we fiddled with the ECU last night, or it might be damp somewhere, but i wondered if anyone else ever had this problem ? Also, im runn…

I was fixing a dodgy injector connector today and noticed one of the belts on the underdrive pulley(?) has broken - which belt is it? (I know, it's the knackered one :p ) Also, is it more than one belt that has gone? There are two left intact on the u/d pulley, but I'm more than a bit concerned about the lack of belt in pic number two.

As above. I have a set of Harves Shim Kit, but not fitted (finding it hard to find someone to fit and setup at the same time). I know theres a few others on the market, ie Midori Style from Z1, Chris at GetGreddy does one too. Any pro's or cons on any of these other makes. Thanks Barry.

I am down to the last few bits before firing the beast up I have what I think is a vacume pipe that I cant see where it goes. looking at the engine in the car (passenger side) you have the two hard pipes coming from the intercooler one has a spigot in it for a vacume line going to the turbo, between the two hard pipes is two steel pipes about 6mm with two long hoses attached one goes to the spigot on the side of the plenum but I cant remember or find where the other goes :headvswal  any ideas? cheers

Wheres the best place to take my Zed for a general service local to Leicester. I say local but would rather take a day off work & travel if the quality of the service done elsewhere is far better. I have no service history with the car & would like it checked over before the spring comes & it gets used more. Any adv would be greatfully received. :D
