General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I'm just starting to get problems with the synchromesh on 3rd gear. Can anyone tell me if it is feasible to change the synchromesh rings, and are parts easily available? Thanks. Ian

About 90mph+ pulling in 5th gear bout 3000rpm the turbos kick-in...loadsa welly...then...went into safety boost mode :mad: Is it normal tryin to pull too lower gear or should it not do that whatever the gear or revs??? :confused: Safety Boost normally only kicks in when i first start car in mornin...No problem any other time. Is it Kacky fuel or problem elsewhere? Hey, I have a 1992 N/A Auto Z. At the moment I have an Apexi induction filter fitted on. What I am after doing is expanding this to a twin induction, think I saw that Smithy had one on his, how much did all that cost and where do you get the pipe for the twin induction? Also the T-Pipe that actually connects it all and the AFM, can this be replaced with anything that is a little more bling, be it silicon or metal. Does anyone know if anyone makes these? hi need some help with wheels size can i fit 265 rear tyres on a 18" x 8 wheel???? ive been told alsorts my old wheels had them on and i think they were only 8" on the rear and 7.5 fronts need some help as iam finding 8.5 rims are hard to get in chrome

The key keeps getting stuck in the ignition barrel on me auto 300 do they have some electric device stopping the key from being removed? or does something have to be done with the auto box to be able to remove the key? cheers

Been to a propshaft repairs in Bristol to get a quote on the price of a proshaft repair, he was very helpful and explained that as we all know zeds are renown for this problem and no matter how good the repair is it will always come back as they like eating propshafts. He did come up with a solution relacing the propshaft with a one piece propshaft taking away the join altogether for the same price, he said he has done this for about 5 members of the ownes club. So if anyone as had this done, if you could let me know if it was any good or if anyone has any information on the subject pros & cons it would be very appreicated cheers

Hi All Sorry to go back to this again, but I have installed my Profec B and mapped the boost - seems to be fine though the settings I ended up with a afir bit lower for SET and GAIN than some others posted on here. I used a 'T' tap into the vacum line on the driver's side, where it comes off the plenum, and I think it is part of the AIV circuit having just read another posting here. Is this ok? I assumed one vacuum line was as good as another as long as they went to the plenum... I avoided the fuel reg line as it was suggested a leaking pipe might cause it to lean out... The boost / vacuum pressure on the display with it all switched off seems to make sense. :confus…

Hi all, I have a Jap Spec Speedo (in KPH) and a duff speedo that reads in MPH, what resistor needs to be changed to get the Jap Spec speedo to read in MPH? Can I take the resistor out of my MPH speedo and put it in the Jap one?

If a 300zx can not substain tick over when the dump values are connected what could be the problem? Thinking of buying a car but it has this problem would like to know if it is likely to give me other problems, any advise would be appreciated Cheers

Hi I´m a total newbie thinking of buying my first 300zx. Its a 1991 US model. (with the turbo charged engine ofcourse) The car is nice BUT has a moulding sound when clutch is in upper position. I assume the clutch needs to be replaced? BUT Does anyone have an idea of how much work it is to do that? The Nissan dealer where I live have never seen a 300zx so I better ask the experts here.... Is it more complex than changing clutch to a "normal car" ? Do You need special tools etc.... What clutch (brand/model) do You recommend that I buy? Thankful for all input in this matter :nana2:

do the 555 injectors use the same 2 orings and main seal as the standard injectors?

Hi Guys Does anyone know the ouput from the EL panel inverter? Does it run on AC or DC...think it is AC ? Can anyone with an illuminated panel stick a multimeter on the outputs and let me know? I have a panel that doesn't work and before I send it back to AndyZ as DOA I want to try and fix the problem if I can. Any help appreciated.... Cheers Martin

After picking my new Zed up on friday, i have spent 3 days going over it with a fine tooth comb (cant use it on me head ? nothing to comb), and have a few questions for you good looking, very inteligent peeps on this wonderfull forum. I bought the car knowing i had to replace the center prop bearing, but the more i drive the car the less it seems to vibrate??? i know the car has been standing for some time (18months in a garage in japan) then it came to the uk last october, and the guy that had it also didnt use it, he has only just registerd it (1st jan 05). so i am going to leave it a while before i do anythin…

'Twas up in the 70s and 80s, and a bit more sun than back here in blighty! Good spotting out in the States again... :D 3 Zeds in Key West- 1 white convertible, 2 black SWB. 1 in Miami- emerald green SWB. All seemed stock, except maybe the last one's paint job. Maybe it's just the volume of cars they have in the USA, but I've not seen a modded one yet. Loads of modded Hondas though, and usually ones you wouldn't want to mod anyway! :confused: Also saw 2 Z31s and about a billion 350Zs. Oh, and I saw ex-prez Bill "Cigar" Clinton. Methinks the world would be in better shape if he was still in charge...
