I Spent £900 in diagnostics last year, just to get told I had a knackered engine, this time I am trying to work it out myself, but as duffy is unavailable Ive no one local to help. Just trying to see what you guys can come up with I have had an engine change it seems ok and compression seems ok, mods are only- filter/ de cat exhaust. There seems to be no power below three thousand revs. On a standing start if I was to let the clutch out and not rev the flywheel up a bit, the car would would probably kangaroo. the hesitation is worse when cold, also if I bury the throttle the car accelerates but not as it should, when I back the throttle off again the car seems t…

Hi I just got my SPA dual digital water and oil gauge, and I need to find a good route through the firewall on the driver's side for the sensors and wiring. The oil pressure sensor plug is quite bulky, so the hole needs to be a descent size, maybe 3/4 " minimum. Any ideas? I already found a good place for the passenger side, but the loom isn't long enough to reach that way. Oh, and I would rather not have to take the wing off to reach it too... ;-) Thanks in advance! Derek

Does anyone know the law regarding reversing lights, I have some new rear main lights and indicators that are set in black panels, I now want to black out the O.E reverse lights for consistency, possibly replace the center panel for a totaly black one. I am considering locating a new reverse light in place of the left hand fog light in the bumper. As far as I know you have to have one light, but there is no spec on hight, postion etc, can anyone confirm this?

Today I mostly re-wired the injector connectors coz they're all shagged anyway, and optimistically hoping it would cure my 9 months of rough running (on part throttle while under 3000rpm)... So- off I toddle to my mate who's done pleny of wiring before, for extra advice and another pair of hands. :smw: All seems simple enough- prepared the new connectors on their flying leads, snipped off the old leads at a suitable point. First problem- the aligning keyway on the new connectors is central, but on the old connectors is slightly to the left. D'oh! Anyway, it's clear that the connection bits will fit so careful use of the solding iron shaves out the keyway in th…

Hi All, I was wondering which type of intercooler you guys have used and can recommend. Is a swap from a Skyline worth while, would it be cost effective compared to a new aftemarket jobbie? I guess with the Skyline, custom pipes would have to be made up and possibly new mounting brackets. Has anyone any experience of this type of job? Thanks in advance John

Any body got any ideas why my car which has been running fine (till i gave it a bit of a caning) has started to cough, splutter, backfire & cut out after very erratic tick over speeds. When driving in third it shudders like your trying to pull off in fith, then backfires. Ivan was behind me & said he saw big poofs of black smoke when I booted it. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Hey guys. My zx recently decided to take a very close look at the back of a PT Cruiser at 50mph (brake pedal went straight to the floor) and there is now some extensive damage to the front of the car. Would it be better for me to try and repair it (not sure if chassis is bent yet) or to find a good lookin non-turbo with a knackered engine and get the conversion done. The engine I had in my car had only been in there a couple of months and still runs now but the rad is jammed against the fan so im just leaving it alone for now till i know what 2 do. Is it fust a straight engine bay swap or does the gearbox and clutch etc have to be done aswell. Any help would be mos…

Went down the garage today to have a look at what else needs doing to the bodywork and realised I'd forgotten about something that needs major attention: the outside trim. I can take the remaining front wipers and scuttle panel off and spray those myself quite easily but it's the black painted (not sure what it is really as it almost looks rubberised?) metal trim that runs across the roof that I'm wondering about. As I imagine most people find, it's peeled off in places exposing the metal underneath (see attachment: excuse the photo, the metal looks black due to the lighting and the black covering looks grey from the filler dust! ;)). I was wondering if it mig…

Engine is running sweet, boost is registering on stock and aftermarket guages, but I'm just not getting the kick in the back I used to, and I notice that my BOVs aren't hissing anymore. I do get a kind of faint rattle when I back off though. Also, the turbo "spool" noise seems to be quieter than it was. Anyone got any ideas? Silly question possibly, but if I had a boost leak, would that mean that less boost would show on the guages? Cheers Rich
