General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Help I was replacing my interior light bulb and map reading lights when they all failed and so did the stereo! Where is the fuse for this circuit assuming they are connected? There does not appear to be a suitable fuse marked up in the engine bay.

I got to buy a new battery :( . mines not holding it's charge. what do i need to look for when buying, any name's that i should be looking for. anyone used Varta batteries as the main place for these is just up the road in Shrewsbury. thanks graeme

When buying my wheels they were all fitted with 35 profile tyres.Front 245/35/19 and Rear 275/35/19 but I seem to remember someone said that the rears were the wrong profile.I will be getting new rears shortly should I be getting 30 profile ? (could someone explain the reason please).Cheers :confused:

I think I've upset my Zed, I'm not sure what I have done, but then like most women its like one of those questions I guess I will never get an answer too. I am having Auto Transmission problems (a lot of slipping) and need a garage in Essex that could help, either rebuild/repair or replace. However my main problem is, having driven home and parked on drive, locked and secured my honey for the evening, she locked herself up tight, now I cant open a door, boot, nothing, bar breaking a window I have no idea how to get entry... any ideas? :headvswal

Hi all, its nice to find a uk based Z forum :D I keep hearing squeeky noise from the bonnet when i go over bumps and things and also when i press the bottom right hand corner of the bonnet. I tried to vaseline and twist tight the black struts on the bonnet (just to determine where its coming from) but it didnt work :confused: any ideas?? I changed my standard wheels for some 17 inch ones. They're second hand ones from a site member - nice wheels, great price! :nana2: The tyres are 255 - 17 rear and 235 - 17 fron (up from J-spec 225-16 all round). I think the off set is correct at 37 and the PCD is right. (They're OZ whelels). The car feels a bit different when I drive. In a straight line, especially on motorways, it's less relaxed in a straight line and grabs and picks up imperfections in the road more. It's not a big difference and I think it's normal. Hi all. After fitting another engine and a HKS EVC5 a while back I decided to try increasing the boost above 10psi today. The ECU has a JWT chip installed so it should cope with 12 psi and more but I could hear pinking/detting once the boost went much over 10psi. Does anyone know if the JWT chip still has the "safety boost" fuel map cos I suspect this might be due to lack of fuel? Could a faulty lambda/knock sensor fuel pump/controller or even injector cause this? I'm in the dark with this one! Cheers Dave.

Hi all, My boost gauge is not registering anything, it just stays above zero. Can anyone tell me how to check if it's just a connection problem? Where does the gauge lead to in the engine bay? No bad news please................. :confused: Thanks Danny/Claire

Dear All, After months of searching for a decent one, and having found one a couple of weeks back I finally picked it up yesterday. Black manual TT. It's great. :-) My mate and I have found a couple of issues with it but I'll get those sorted out under the warranty. I'm also planning to take it out later today and put it through it's paces for a couple of hours to shake out any additional problems as the traffic on the A1 was pretty heavy last night coming back from Watford so my opportunities to really boot it were fairly limited. I'm thinking of shortening my auto gear stick. Looks really ungainly and there is no need for it to that long! Can I just take a hack saw to it? Has anyone done this before or know of any aftermarket ones??? Will it still work correctlyif its about 3 inches shorter?? Cheers Andrew

Greetings I'm a yank livin' in France and hav e just seriously warped my discs after a high speed chase with a French interceptor....(oops.; didn't see em') My question is the following: I would like to know if there are any aftermarket rotors I could order in the UK which may be cheaper and faster (need quick) than ordering in the states. I also saw oversized rotors sold w/ a bracket to reposition the OEM calipers for 17" rims, anything of the sort on the isle?

Guys Just about to buy my thrid Apexi guage: Which one should I get? oil temp, exhaust temp, fuel press and oil press? I will buy all four but I just want one more apexi guage to go into my pod... Which one of the above is the most important? I am thinking Oil Pressure but then dont I need one on either bank?

can some1 please tell me the best place 2 plumb the gauges in got oil pressure ( i know this 1 got the sandwhich switch) boost, water temp does this go on the top rad hose? also all the elect connections cheers. ;)

Hi All, After nearly a year of waiting (where everything that could possibly go wrong in the import process, did go wrong) my 300zx import has arrived! :hyper: ... and it's a beaut! It's a 1996 black NA, it passed the MOT/SVA but the company (SVA UK) told me that there is a problem in the compression in on of the cylinders, could this just be because the car had not been driven in about nine months? Is there any good mechanics in (or around) London I can take it to to have a look (and for a service). Thanks sonix. p.s. anyone thinking of importing a Z: make sure you're not in a rush, as it could take ages...

:cry: went to the petrol station put in gas. on my way home my car cuts out never did that before.. i opened throttle chambers and sprayed some carb cleaner in it started but cut out ,,looks like engine not getting any gas. dontknow what todo , would it be wise to take out the fuel filter and clean it.. getting a new one willtake some time.... any sugestions willbe appreciated..muchtks by the way i had to leave my beloved park a mile from home...

Well peeps, i have been playing with some boost jets today and was wondering what the max boost i can run on a standard ECU, the reason why i am asking is because i cant get the boost to go above 10/11psi, and thats with .9 jets. Have also replaced most of the vacum pipes and boost pipes with silicon Pipes (RED OF CORSE). I hope to be gettin a JD chipped ecu very soon, so i should see a better boost, or not as the case maybe. Will i need to change my spark plugs when i get it chipped, if so what do you recomend, (dont want me flame blown out ?). Have also just got a pair of stainless De Cats/Downpipes from the states, Can't wait to get them on, vvrrooooooooooooooomm…

i've just bought some s/h smiths wheels does anyone know if the standard z wheel nuts fit these or if i need different nuts

Fot those who have done their own re-trim, anyone know the easiest way to remove the panel that attaches either side of the main centre console so i can re'trim it ? is it a console out job or do they just pull off ? Thought i'd ask first before i broke one :p cheers smithy
