General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Guys, I have done loads of searches on this subject buy getting no where! Every now and again when i start her from cold she puts out light blue smoke out the passengers side exhaust, thing is it clears after a minute or 2. She never smokes any other time. I've got a few horrible thoughts i.e turbo, turbo seal, head gasket ........ Can anybody tell me what this means? Thanks Paul

fitted new 18,s couple days ago, all went fine :nana2: just removed wheels and fitted all new brakes pads and discs, when removing one of the back wheels i snap one of the studs :headvswal any one know where i can get a new wheel stud and how easy to fit?? :confused:

Hi I am looking at increasing the power of my '93 Uk spec Z32 manual. just cannot decide what boost controller & dump valve setup to go for? Was thinking of going for Apexi twin chamber BOV kit plus a Greddy profec b boost controller (as i want it to be 1/4 DIN). But have heard that the HKS super sequential dump valve setup is the best. Is this really down to personal choice and they are all good or are there better options? i am looking at getting 400BHP, with help from other bits also. Can anyone help?

Just took my 91 Z to the mechanic to get her ready for MOT after being parked for last 7 months.(summer Car) I had a host of normal problems and maintenance issues to deal with but I didnt expect my Speedo to stay at 0 mph as I drove th 6 mile journey What could cause this??? ThankZ Roy

Anyone knows a good auto electrician in East London/ Essex...My speedo jumps up and down all the time and also the boost gauge is not working..i've changed the speed sensor and the speed convertor with new once and still not working properly. If anybody knows a good auto electrician please let me know thanks

Hello Z owners I was driving along my local dual carraige way last night at the normal speed of 70moh (u no wot i meen) when i took my exit sliproad and to my shock my z just died on me, i pulled over stuck her back into park then started her up and it was ok. has anyone had a similar problem or would anyone no wot this could be cheers :mad:

Guys, Just got the car back from having the centres and backboxes replaced with straight-thru system...even taken the boxes out the centres, but the cats are still in place. Just noticed on idle that there is a lot of white smoke coming out the passenger side but non on the drivers. The pressure shouldnt have changed enough to knacker the turbo seals should it? These turbs are on 126k but didnt smoke before apart from the odd puff here and there. It didnt do it earlier but just had to move the car and noticed it....what do you think?? Dan.

Hi all, I've got a cutting out problem which would suggest a failed PTU but I'm 99.9% sure it's not. Basically the engine will cut out wether idling or while driving and I will get a strong smell of petrol. The engine will then turn over but not start. A few minutes later, it'll start. It can then repeat this 5 minutes later or be fine for a few weeks. I was using a series 1 PTU and when the engine cut out, I replaced it with another series 1 PTU which I kept in the glove box and I know works but still had the same problem. I then changed it for a series 2 but today, it cut out again, so I've kinda ruled out the PTU. I've got no ecu error codes and am going…

Hey guys I'm reasonably new to the Z (got it about 3 weeks ago with front end damage)... it's already got some kit on it and I'm a Nissan 200 owner too, so I'm reasonably familiar with turbo cars. I've a few questions about the tuning the Z: I'm fitting: -uprated oil cooler -dual induction (from the states) -bigger intercoolers -two of what I call a Bren devise (like a dawes devise) -it's already got a nice single exit exhaust and HKS coilovers :cool: ... Okay have given this a good coat of looking over, how the hell do you get the bleedin headrest of the front seats, last stage of the re-trim and what should be easiest part, is starting to baffle me :( cheers smithy

Hi All. I,m looking to sort out the induction side of things and was wondering whether Iwould be best off using k+n dropins or a induction kit ,bearing performance and reliability in mind . Any ins an outs ,pros an cons anybody?

Does anyone recognise the above plate. It is a dark grey Z. I've seen it twice now in Blackfield, New Forest?

Can I use silicone hose to do the plenum bypass? if not whats the hose to use and where would be the best place to get it from. I have read up on the on plenum bypass from a link given in the advanced tuning forum, there is a bit on there about a hose that goes from the carbon canister to the balence bar being as I have removed the carbon canister do I blank the balence bar or reroute the hose else where :confused: cheers

Hi all, just found this site and would like to tell you about my ZX300 i live in Nantwich, Cheshire White ,manual twin turbo 1992 uk model, 81000 miles bought from a friend four years ago. he had it since it was about 11 months old. so i do know a lot of its history. However recently i have wore the inside of the offside tyre away rather fast. also there is a scraping sound when i go around right hand bends and maybe the rear to if i am hearing ok Took to main agent cos i thought there was some play somewhere only to be told they cannot find anything amiss with the suspension or steering ? has anybody had similar probs? or shed some light my way

Ok well basically, my luck is always sh1t to start off wid. I found a plastic bag about a week ago in my engine where the fan is around the bit that makes it spin, tangled up. I was wondering how did that get there? So i took it off etc... Same thing happened yesterday, i cud smell sumthing burning, opened it n found another plastic bag in the same place! Took it off wot not. I was driving later n the engine felt rough, as if sumthing was choking it a bit so it wudnt run as gud. N sum funny burning smell. As i got home parked it up n everything. Hi, Recently purchased a Car Alarm with Remote start. I want to fit it myself, as I have a lot of other Interior stuff to do at the same time, and having studied the instructions and wiring diagrams Im confident I can handle this myself. However there is one problem with the installation, that I guess is down to the relatively unique zed ignition setup. Please see wiring diagram below. It refers in two places to the "High coil", which I take means Ignition coil. But with the zed having 6 individual coils, and a PTU..Im not sure what to do. One wire must be wrapped around the coil, and another needs to be fed to the positive connection on Coil. …

As my controller is now on the way to the menders i was thinking of putting boost jets (mig tips) in. Can someone tell me which ones to use that will give me around 13/14 PSI????? Do i still disconnect the stock solenoids when i put the jets in oh yes and do i put them in the lines feeding the underneath of the big hoses going into the plenum????? Cheers
