Hey all As far as I understand, new screens are available in the uk. I'm back in the uk for a bit in May and I'm intending to get the zed on the road. One of the main issues is that I need a new screen Has anyone had one fitted recently, how was the cost , are they the right colour (it's an import swb 1992) was the service good?

Hi guys, Tried to refit my PS pump last night but couldn't get it located properly. On the front part of the carrier bracket where the bolt goes through there appears to be one of those rings that slips back as you tighten the bolt to hold it in place. I can't get this to budge back at all to get the pump located properly even persuading it with a hammer. Any tips?

Friday Lunchtime: Bright red, modified ZX with body kit going round the pizza express roundabout heading towards Upperton road. It was two up and sounded nice. Was it you? P.S Next time please use your indicators on the roundabout, so I know which way you are going and I can pull out in my slow-arsed bus :P

  5. Just been offered a manual tt zed, and all sounds okay apart from a little bit of rust on the rear quarters, though he claims the struts are clean, had new sills last year, etc. Just looked up the chassis number on the MOT history checker, and it exists. Yet if I try to look it up on Nissan FAST, it doesn't recognise it. Cause for alarm?

Well, the wreckage of Jans 98 zed was classes as cat B and sold last Thursday. I've been scouring ebay to make I source the things people have been asking for to get in first and make sure I can get them. But Nothing. It seems to have disappeared into thin air by whoever bought it But Then, another zed is stolen of a drive..... and as someone said why steal parts if you can steal a whole car ? Knowing what damage I did to Jan's, and I've still got aches and pains from it, I hope no one is trying to get it back on the road They may be wanting to modify the one that was stolen and repaint it ......

Can anyone that has recently done a transmission conversion give me an estimate of how much it costs? I'm wondering if it would be worth buying a clean automatic for the right price. Also, would I have trouble getting the parts (presumably shipped from UK)? Cheers

  11. Hi, Long time no see from a former member. Mods - I have made a BACS payment today to renew my membership, so I hope this does not fall foul of any club regulations. I AM SELLING MY ZED - I will advertise on here as soon as my membership is updated. For now, my car can be found in the 'Other models' section under 'Nissan' on Pistonheads (Dont ask me why it's in that section - I'm trying to get it moved). Please spread the word as I am really wanting a quick sale. If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them here! Many thanks! Leo

Hi I'm looking for some pictures of a ported 40p tt head preferably the exhaust side. I have Google searched and come up with a lot of mixed results so want some actual club ported heads which I can reference too. My main concern is how much of the "hump" in the exhaust port where the valve guide comes through. Can it be completly blended flush or is it wise just to fettle around it?? I don't just want to hog out the material and reduce velocity

Just wondering if there are any hidden costs to importing a car yourself. I can get a low mileage tt (auto though unfortunately) delivered to Newcastle for £2300, but what costs are there for actually getting it registered and on the road once it's here? I asked on Facebook last night to see if any of my friends knew, and it looks like the dvla take 85 quid to register it, you've got to get it through an mot, and tax it. But apparently the tax will be 30% of the cost of the vehicle on top of the regular road tax cost. Is that correct? Meaning I'll end up spending nearly 3k all in?

I have a 1991 Jap import! didn't want the add on rear fog light! So I did the rear outer reverse light conversion & fit a red bulb! I have now tried three red bulbs! Left one from Halfords looked Orange! Middle bulb was better! But the far right bulb produces the best result! Not sure that this photo shows that but here it is! Cost is about £3.00!

Hi Guys, I'm interested in tips on removing the injector from the Fuel Rail (yes?/no?) , keeping in mind they have probably been in there for over 20 years, I tried removing one already and you can see the result in the picture ( Don't worry its from my spare car) so looking for advice like "cover with peanuts and chocolate sauce and it comes out a treat.." you know what I mean. Oh by the way, the Plenum is in the way...

As many of you know, a few of our cars where chosen to be exhibited at the Classic Car Show last year at the NEC; this has to be one of the highlights of owning my own 300zx. Well, whilst I was off having a chat with Quentin Wilson, Mandy spotted another celebrity eyeing up my car! Unfortunately he had gone by the time I'd returned, but mentioned who he was. My parents came up later on that day and I mentioned him to my father and he then told me that he knows him vaguely and got in touch with him. It just so happens that he (Jon Bentley - TV presenter and former executive director of Top Gear) had a 300ZX as a press-launch vehicle back in 1990 and has a big adm…

Stayed late after work tonight and fitted brembo front calipers and DBA 5000 2 piece discs, very simple job 2 hours in total, no problems at all, back plates clear the new discs. The difference already in braking feel is outstanding, have to bed in yet but already the pedal is much more responsive, takes much less effort on the pedal before you can feel the brakes bite. gotta fit rears now, and exhaust, and 99 rear lights, and diffuser, and the list goes on............ Wish I had more free time.

My rear view mirror has gone kaputt! First the dip lever went floppy and the mirror was loose. I tried adjusting the little tension screw on the back, but managed to turn it too far in the loose direction and it came out. Now the mirror is completely loose on the ball and socket and held in place with gaffer tape! Can anybody advise how to get into the damn thing to fix the socket - I've already chipped the glass trying to get it out? Alternatively does anybody out there have a mirror complete with the mounting arm that's up for sale? Thanks, Chris

A few times as a forum or portion of, we have ended up in a good discussion about how and why. I don't claim to be anything other than an enthusiastic learner but I love to know how stuff works. I would like to know more about gearboxes today. Let's get to the bottom of; The shafts inside, is it 3 in all gearboxes? Exactly how synchros work, double and tripple synchro gears? Helical cut and straight cut gears. Sequential and dog boxes. Can you get synchro sequential? I think you can? Let us pool our knowledge then I will write up a summary at the end. Ready, steady, google!
