Hi newbie here :) was just wondering how much diffrence there is between a n/a and a t/t apart from the turbos, how much quicker are they etc etc , i would like tt but not sure how realiable they are for a every day drive . I've been offered this car (95M Nissan 300zx(FairLady)non-turbo, manual 132,000kms MOT til 14/09/2006, White(metalic).) looks brand new what do ya rekon it would be worth , and what should i look for on it , Thanks Ast

hi there im thinking of purchasing my first zed but i have a query about reliability....... ive owned nissan turbo before in the shape of a 200sx, and it gave me nothing but trouble. i now own a cavalier v6 which has done me proud for 2 years and i love the v6 engine......so in the case for reliability am i better going for a non turbo version of the zed or not????? i know this is probably a faq ... and people always tell you that if a turbo motor is looked after well it should give no problems....this is just not the case in my experiance. your help and advice is greatly apreciated!!! :hyper: :bow:

Hi All Today (sunday) I went to a local car show in Bristol, Weston Wheels. On the way there, all was fine, the odd bit of smoke on idle (blue), but this I think is due to the PCV valves needing replacing. Anyhow, since having the car, over the past 3 years ive done about 3k miles, and have never had a problem apart from the above mentioned, and some strange idle patterns, maybe again due to the PCV's? While driving down the M5 at about 55mph, a friend of mine was about to pass me so I gave it a bit of Boost (in 5th, foot down), all was fine, untill at about 90-100mph loads and loads of smoke, blue I think came from behind (I assume the exhausts, not underneath). …

As the title, in the club stand area, one red, wide arches, 2 x white, all parked together. One mid met blue, large rear alu spoiler. Another White, smoothed in rear quad light conversion. And another, black, covered in vinyl decals and stated 450 0-60 in 4.3secs on the back. Mine was also on the club stand, black, polished multi spoke alloys, quad rear lights, cream leather interior. I cant help thinking that Nissan must have done lots of R & D into this, back in the 80s, even in the 90s, they obviously didn't think it necessary to fit one. Personally I feel that the TTs would benifit from a little more venting, to disperse some of that huge amount of heat, generated under the hood. What are your thoughts on this? (before I start chopping) is it a worth while mod, or were Nissan right not to fit one as standard?.

Hi. I'm doing a 300ZX brake upgrade on my Primera and I've got a few questions. I've been offered a set of rear R32 calipers. Firstly, can someone confirm if these are the same type used on the 300ZX. Secondly I can't see and hand brake unit on the calipers. Could some explain how the 300ZX hand brake works... Cheers, Al.

bought one of the boost leek detectors from vijay without having a compressor is it possible to do it with a bicycle pump,and how would you know what pressure it was under how have other peeps done it without a comp ?

hi guys about to change old radiator for KOYO performance one from Greddy. can somone tell me where the drain cocks are on both sides of engine? my Z is a UK spec Manual '93. i have drained system so far remove radiator. but cannot see where these drain cocks are to flush system. Or is there a better way to flush and drain system before filling back up demin+antifreeze? :bow:

after pressing the power button or keeping the car on hold there is a light saying what is on that switches on on the right of the steer ring.non of mine come on.what is that about.is it electrical?n coz the lights aint on non of them 2 are really working r they? another thing when i put off my override button all them of the lights (power,hold and O/D off) come on.that aint normal is it????????

Someone posted on a while ago saying if you have HIDs its a good idea to ground pins 4 and 5 of the headlamp dimmer so they do not switch on and off when you flash (this damages them at speeds) AND it also means when your main beam comes on your dipped (HIDs) stays on too. Just done it and all worked lovely. However. . . . . Now all 4 will be running on main beam - isnt the extra poewr draw gonna damage something as Nissan only designed it for either dipped OR main beam on? Cheers

hi people. my z got 2 exhausts as everyone might have. one of them gives out alot of greyish smoke the left one. the right one is fine. till where i know bout zs i think its my 1st turbo which might be leaking or something.anyone know what it might be? cheers guys

Disks: How do I get the disks off? Calipers: Do I have to bleed the whole brake system in order to swop out the calipers? (Someone in an earlier threads suggested just clamping off the flexible brake lines. Can I just plug in new calipers and carry on as before without having to bleed the system?) Thanks for any tips.

Getting right pissed off. Washing car doesnt ever clean the soot like deposits off the rear - it gets covered and I MEAN covered in black sooty shite. It will come off with either an oily rag or some isopropyl alcohol, then I wash the car - drive it up the dual carriageway to dry it - come back and theres a thin mist of black over the rear again. I dont notice it smoking if I boot it a bit, but every now and then I get a little puff of dark smoke when on low revs after I have been out and about at speed. Does it sound like turbos are knackered or just running rich?

Heater fan not blowing and lcd display on unit not lighting up have checked fuses they are ok,aircon compressor is operating,heater fan works,bulbs for lcd display are ok, 5 volt live feeds to control unit seem ok,does anyone have an idea suppose its either going to be control unit or amplifier pack ps can this be checked on conzult and who in sussex/kent area would have one sorry for my very un-technical jargon

I have what sounds like something between escaping air or a metal bracket vibrating( sorry hard to explain) coming from inside of nearside wing dissapears above 2000rpm any ideas anyone?

I was just wondering about how the viscous fan is supposed to operate. With the car off is it supposed to move freely? Would this mean a clutch failure? Can someone explain to me exactly how it is supposed to operate and what are the symptoms of clutch failure? Thanks!

Okay so i've been driving the car for 3 days since all the work and tonight I noticed a wierd noise coming from the engine bay. It is only there at low revs (under 1000rpm) and sounds like a very fast chirping, almost like theres a hand full of crickets in there. I'm guessing its a belt that need tightening, any other thoughts? Yas

I only paid for the Z this morning and haven't picked it up yet, but already the mod bug has bitten. Although the interior itself is pretty much ok as it is, the dials seem to let it down a bit. So, does anyone know of any alternative options for the dials? I've seen the white dials on Zcentre, but does anyone do anything like indiglow dials?
