...what do they actually do? I'm guessing they govern some sort of crank case breather system. I have a stalling problem with my car and fluctuating idle/miss. Now if I drive hard, then if I was to come to a halt, depress the clutch, the car would stall. Is this due to PCV valves?

MPg has dropped to around 11 and there is an aura of petrol smell around the car,= when driving, I think i heard the exhaust pop yesterday at about 100mph also. I've recently had new o2s and cats put on. car also idling at 1000rpm and hesitates at times when pulling away, any ideas where to start looking? car is stock boost with stock ecu,

Just wondering what the best dump valves are for the 300 and where the best place to get them from is? I need that sound in my life but am aware that its going to be fairly pricey as 2 are required! Also does anyone have any pics of them fitted? Cheers!

When i got my Z'd it had an aftermarket head unit, nice Panasonic with CD changer. But it looks like it was fitted by a monkey. On closer inspection i found that the usual facia you get with stereos these days was not fitted, i have got it but it won't fit in the slot. There's about a 10mm gap on each side and 5mm top and bottom. I can't even ram the facia in. Anyone else got this problem or am i missing some parts? Ta

I was replacing the driverside rear speaker yesterday. When i got the speaker out i spotted a strange thing'ie bolted to the inner arch. It was a black box with Clarion printed on it. Anybody know what it might be? I think it's something to do with the sound system cause the original head unit was a Clarion. Ta

I've been told that my aircon needs re-gassing. I read an earlier thread on this subject which describes how to check if the Argon gass level is ok, through a little glass window in a pipe just in front of the battery. I've done this and there appears to be nothing in there. The thread also explained that the standard replacement is R12 and that this is not available any more and that the latest stuff is not compatable. I'm a bit concerned as the car is booked into a specialist on Thursday. Has anyone else had to do this recently - any advice?? Thanks

Hi everyone, I am new to the 300zx scene and have just bought a '92 TT (manual) and have been driving about getting used to it etc. Had a bit of a worry this morning when it wasnt boosting properly but that was only a pipe that had come loose, thankfully. But i am paranoid about every little sound there is and today have noticed a whistly noise at peak boost (standard 0.6 bar). There is a whooshy noise at normal boost anyway but im assuming thats just the HKS filters sucking in, but i havnt noticed the whistly noise until 2day? The boost seems healthy and theres no smoke when boosting so am I being over paranoid or is there cause for concern? I know its difficult wit…

I've seen this beauty twice now on my travels along the M25. It's a silver SWB, parked in a fenced in car park along side the M25 (clockwise) directly before the M4 junction (J15 I think). Aftermarket bodykit and spoiler fitted - looks sweet - anyone here???

Rather different to Yampiedog.... Drove into London last friday and there was a lot of start stop traffic off the M4. Girlfriend said she could smell fish. Resisted the urge to tell her to shut her legs!!! :x: A while later I glanced down at the speedo, noticed the water temp guade wae higher that usual. Took ages to find a place to stop without parking on double yellows. Opened the bonnet and saw water pouring out of the short rubber pipe that runs from the top hard pipe from the rad to the engine. Just below and to the right (as you look at the engine) of the Dashboard water temp sensor. I let it cool down. IN the meantime I went off in search of a garage to g…

So which Turbos?? The question has been asked many times before, but I see there are a few people with recent rebuilds with a variety of different turbo applications, so any of your opinions are more than welcome. So what do I want? A turbo with excellent spool response and a top end figure of 500 BHP I’ve done lots of research, especially in the US and think I’m swaying towards the JWT 530 sports. Firstly because of the characteristics of these units and secondly, I’m buying a few parts off JWT so there giving me some good discount (anyone have these fitted?) I’m going to start the rebuild as soon as my car is shipped out to me in Canada. I was thinki…

Help I've changed all the pipes that lead to the radiator with silicone hose however when I started the car today it burst as shown in the picture. I assume this contains oil as opposed to coolant? What would cause this, it was brand new silicone hose, recently had new oil etc... I'm not aware of damaging the hose in anyway and it hasn't caught on anything. Any suggestions?

Anybody know why my left (N/S) intercooler is bubbling? It happened today after driving home from work (un-thrashed) and lasted about 5 minutes. I think its the intercooler as it was coming from the front passenger side but cant be sure as its my first Z'd and only had it a week. Any help appreciated.

Should this panel (in between boot spoiler and rear lights) be perspex? The car is a 91 Jap import but my panel has been painted. I always thought that only the later cars had a perspex panel. Am i wrong and should i get out the paint stripper

My dash is peeling back from the windscreen vent.....yyuuucchhh !! Its done 52K miles and is 12 years old so its sat in 12 Japanese summers with the heat pouring in through the glass .... the passenger seat is a bit rough as well from heat treatment I would guess. This is not particularly a problem with Zeds / with any car - Any of you guys ever seen this or had any experience a of a cure ???

  25. I have been visiting the forum over the last month or so to get an idea of running costs and potential problems that 300 owners experience. The problem as far as I can see is that a lot of you guys seem to be spending a lot of cash keeping your cars on the road. I am getting the impression that these cars are not really very reliable and when they do go wrong you need to sell an organ to pay the bill. Is this a fair assesment? Are there any owners out there who have had no problems and only had to pay for routine servicing? I love the way the Z looks and I love the idea of a 280 BHP TT V6 but I don't really want to buy a car that turns into a millstone round my neck.…
