General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi, I'm a newby to this forum but I've always liked 300ZXs, especially the one driven by the girl in the film Teen Agent (Esprit, 300ZX and 900 Turbo, good film!). Anyway, I'm interested in getting one as a sensible car (I have a tweaked TVR Griffith as a toy) and I've seen a couple of nice black N/A cars (Silverfox, YHM!). I'm curious to know what standard fit features I'm missing out on by opting for the N/A over the T/T. Things like leather, climate control, HICAS, T-Tops, roof blinds, etc. Can anyone help me out? Of course what I'd really like to do is get a small loan, buy a T/T and crank it up to 500bhp with the aid of some nitrous, but no, I WILL …

can any body tell me how much oil it takes to fill the auto gear box and also engine oil?

anyone help? i bought a really nice non turbo jap import today. its 95% excellent but i need to sort one or two things. 1. braking from high speed it shudders. not violently. noticeble at low speed too. kind of grabs then releases then grabs. does it sound like warped discs?? can they be repaired/skimmed?? who does em in the north west?? 2.4th gear whines a bit at low speeds when you start to put your foot down. all other gears are fine? any ideas? cheers. tony

Just had my replacement engine fitted, which came from an auto car, all is running ok, but on idle, she is hunting and very lumpy, and at constant 80mph on motorway, every once in a while, it has a single beat miss. would it be anything to do with the ecu being a manual one, and the engine from an auto ? all test on laptop show code 55 no faults. cheers for any help guys

Does anyone know if it would be acceptable by mr plod / Law to trim a rear number plate. What I would like to do is trim the 2 smallest sides (vertical) on a standard number plate by about 30mm each side. My car has a private plate on so there would be ample room to do it, due to there only being 5 digits... :duffer: So does anyone know if this is permissble? :rolleyes: thanks Jon.. :)

i was driving to work yesterday morning and i had to put my foot down a bit to get into a gap when i stopped at the lights i noticed the car was idleing to fast about 1500rpm, when i got to work it was the same, so i pooped the bonnet just to have a look to see if any wires had come loose or something. At the front of the engine where the two metal water pipes are there are two sensors as i fiddled about with the one on the left the electric fan kicked in and didnt turn off with the car still idleing fast, so i turned the engine off. i started her up about 5 minutes later and the fan came straight on and the engine was still idleing fast so i popped the bonnet and had a l…

bought a s/h apexi filter fitted it took the z out last night (heavy rain) as soon as i hit 3000rpm i hit safty boost checked it this morn and the filer has sucked in some water somewhere 2 questions do you need a splash gaurd with a apexi filter?(my k&n was ok on car) and do you need to oil a apexi? atb kev

random daft question, but does the 300 have variable intermitantcy wipers... my old 200 had the ability to change the pausing period of the wipers when on the intermediate mode and i found it very usefull. Just wondering if the 300 has the same....

could someone give me some advice please. I had a warning light on the dash that stayed for about 30 secs then went out again, it was the third one in from the left on the bottom left of the dial cluster and looks like a box with heat lines coming out of the top. Someone said they thought it was to do with the cat, HELP cheers

I've had an oil leak for a while which does leave a tiny amount of oil on the driveway. A garage told it was leaking at the crankshaft and that the gearbox would have to be dropped to fix. Also something about blowing oil back into the..something. reason I can't remember exactly what he said is because i had just been way overcharged :mad: (a long story) by them for something else, And was seriously pi**ed off when i left. Anyway, I've kept an eye on the level everyday and it's fine. But it's a constant worry to me 'til I get it fixed. Is dropping the box the only way to repair it?

Hi guys, since one of my rear subframe bushes has split, I am thinking of replacing only the 4 subframe bushes with polyurethane ones. is it possible to just lower the subframe and change these four bushes or do I have to remove the subframe completely? secondly, what do you guys recommend I use to remove these bushes, some sort of puller maybe? thanks darren

hi all, how much power will a uprated auto box take as not sure weathwer to go for a uprated auto or manual conversion. also is this paddel saw any good ? any help and advice would be very welcome. thanks :confused:

They need to know a few things that some of you more teccy owners may know the answer to: 1) I have told them I want to go to either a 3.1/3.2, what oversized pistons and rings would I need? Car overheated last week.....two hoses split........was checked by a 'sniffer' for unwanted gases....afraid this test came out positive......was given a quote of at least &1400 depending on other damage that may have occured......is a reconned engine a sensible alternative.......any advice appreciated....thanks in advance....STEVE.... :(
