Has anyone fitted a Z1 motorsports one piece prop shaft ? I have some extra vibes after fitting mine. I have got the run out down to 0.25 mm (tolerance for a standard propshaft = 0.6mm) and packed it full of grease but I get mild vibes at 40- 45 mph and moderate to strong vibes at 100mph+. Once the original was removed it left a cupped flange on the differential in which the new propshaft flange had to sit. This was quite a precision fit and also I have had to trim the standard washers that sit under the flange securing bolts so that they will slide into the cupped flange. Is this the correct configuration?? Finally has anyone ever found that they have in…

the other day i was driving slowly down a road and the car just stalled, it fired up again straight away so i thought it was me who'd accidently stalled it, then today the exact same thing happened again, but this time im sure it was the car. ive done a quick search and noticed a similar thing happens when the PTUs fooked, but apparently the car doesnt start again until the PTUs cooled down, were as on my problem the car fires up first time. although i have noticed the car turns over for longer before firing up then it used to, as it used to fire up as soon as the key was turned. any ideas peeps cheers si p.s. forgot to mention my cars a jap spe…

Crashed front of Z last month in ice. Nothing to serious but ended up needing new bumber and passenger wing. Unfortunately car wasnt idleing properly. Suspected a boost leak and sure enough my intercooler was cracked in several places Replace intercooler with second hand unit. Put all back together but stil I have a leak. Not as bad as before I changed intercooler but still bad enough to have boost gauge at approx -7 at idle and engine idleing badly. My mechanic cant see anything wrong with pipes from intercooler where damage was and is not sure how to trace the problem. Any help greatly appreciated. Wasnt there a unit some time back for sale to …

Was messing with carputer when it decided to shut down and won't reboot! I know, try the ignition, won't start, get a horrible clicking noise. I am wondering if the immobiliser has kicked in? Don't believe so, reset alarm, same noise. Hard to describe the noise other than fast, loud clicking, could it be the starter motor?

A short lesson on Multigrades: If you see an expression such as 10W-40, the oil is a multigrade. This simply means that the oil falls into 2 viscosity grades, in this case 10W & 40. This is made possible by the inclusion of a polymer, a component which slows down the rate of thinning as the oil warms up and slows down the rate of thickening as the oil cools down. It was first developed some 50 years ago to avoid the routine of using a thinner oil in winter and a thicker oil in summer. For a 10w-40 to attain the specification target a 10W ( W = winter) the oil must have a certain maximum viscosity at low temperature. The actual viscosity and th…
