General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Can anyone help me? I dont wanna put it through a main dealer (cost) if I can avaoid it. Is it a simple fix?

It's not caused a problem as of yet, but I got my Zed out this weekend and noticed than the lick doesn't stop turning at the unlock position. It'll click as if something is broken and then almost continue to turn. I daren't push it any further incase it breaks, but it still locks and unlocks ok. Any ideas? Is there some kind of clip behind it that breaks? Ta

Anyone know what relay controls the indicators? The relay for the hazards works fine, tried jiggling and switching on/off the hazards, checked the fuses. Nothing :( If the turn signals use a seperate relay where the heck is it? I've found the hazards one in the footwell

Hi all, Ok, i've got my prop off and have replaced the center bearing. When I move the front UJ (nearest gearbox) it seems to have a notchy feel in its straight ahead position when you move it slightly off axis. Is it buggered or an acceptable level of wear. If it is gone can anyone recommend a prop specialist in the essex area to put a new UJ in. Thanks in advance.

what type of welder do i need to weld aluminium together ?? i need the easiest to use please. ha ha

h plate charcoal z pumping out lots of smoke whenever you put your foot down covering my nice clean st200 i had to pass in the end as i was being choked

Is it possible to remove the engine with the gearbox still attached? Or do you have to remove the gearbox first? Curious to know, as I know that some cars they can both come out together. I should be removing the engine this weekend, so am planning ahead for the final stages. It's almost ready to lift now, just need to figure out what I'm doing with the gearbox and a couple of other little bits.

Hi guys, have had my z for a couplea weeks now and love it :nana2: . Just a couple of questions: 1) the fuel cap release is VERY flakey. sometimes takes me 4-5 attempts to get it open.. is there a known problem with these and/or a fix. The lever by the drivers seat feels a bit loose, so could be the cables stretched? 2) There is quite a lot of "transmission whine" when the car is in gear and moving. Difficult to know if there's a problem or not, or just components getting old etc.. Not really a question, I know! 3) Does anyone make "bags" or similar for the T-bars? Haven't got anything to put 'em in, and don't like them being loose in the boot.. Thanks…

I am tearing my hair out (what's left) my wiper blade is howling like a banshee, I have cleaned my windscreen a million times with alsorts, I have changed wiper's I am now on silicone ones (not as noisy but not realy wiping). I think I need new arms any suggestions? :confused:

Hello all the Zed is finally up and running again since. As I only really used her round the doors I hadnt really noticed this to much, but as I was returning from Manchester having had loads of work done I noticed that going at speeds of between 60 - 80mph and more the whole car shakes like hell. Its fine at lower speeds. Am hoping it is just tracking and balancing of the wheels etc. If not what else could it be??? Thanks in advence.

Anyone have their zed close by and could measure the interior bulb? Mines gone and I was hoping to order one today, but from past experience I remember these not being a std size. Cheers

gotta fit a new High Pressure Power Steering Hose next week, just wondering if anyone here has fitted one before, i can get to the underneath when it goes up on my mates 4 poster and the top is no problem but is there anything else to look out for connection wise??

Dear All, I would like to know, what was the major body styling differences in the 99 spec and previous models. I realise the front bumper was different but what about the side skirts and rear bumper/spoiler ? Where they any other differences ? Thanks

Hello, I have just become the proud owner of a newly imported 300zx twin turbo its very un abused and is completly standard so standard infact that it doesnt even have an alarm on it which is a must specially with the area i live in. Has any one fitted an alarm on there car or know of a place where i can find info on fitting it such as what colour wire is what and where it could be found. i started to fit it today and realised after stripping out the underside of the dash that i could not find a way through the bulkhead for the looms to go through is there a way through the bulkead or would i need to drill a new hole? Any help would be greatly appric…

Had my z on the dynamometer today and it gave me a report off, 250bhp and 270 toque.I found i had a crack in my bov pipe which was pissing out air when reving it,could this have been the problem?? or what else could i check??Boost gauge reads 10 PSI.I have a k&n induction kit and 4inch straight through single exit exhaust.If anyone can help cheers.

ive been checking my car out and the egr is on until it gets to 1688 rpm 15 mph 19 degrees timing temp 54 degrees its off up the range until it switches back on at 3188 rpm 27.5 mph 32 degrees timing temp 56 degrees it seems to switch ono and off in relation to the timing so at 15degrees its ON when it switched to 19 degrees its OFF up till 32 degrees. does this sound right if not what would be the symptoms of this switching on and off respectively.

as above where you buy em and does any one know the spec as i only had one that i was carrying about trying to find replacement ones and i cant find it now lol i bought the unit second hand from here ages ago! Si
