General Discussions - 300ZX Related

To the sides of the air filter/intake, there are 2 plastic channel things. They head in to the fender area behind the headlights and don't seem to go anywhere. What are they and what do they do? :confused:

Its been suggested that the "stuttering of my car" at WOT could be due to the CAS needing cleaning. By this im guessing all i can do is clean the contacts from the PTU to the CAS(think they the same wire loom?) so touch of wet/dry to the contacts to clean them the best route? Anything else i could do to isolate the cas to be at fault? the car runs fine at all speeds and starts fine as long as you dont use WOT. Im gonna try swapping over the maf this weekend as well, but the maf thats fitted isnt that old (circa 2yrs..) Thinking its more likely the CAS no... cheers guys

Hi my Jap import had the speedo and odometer recalibrated to mph and the cruise control was disconnected at the same time apparently. Does anyone know how easy it is to get the CC working again once the recalibration has been done and has anyone in the SW done this before/can anyone recommend someone who can fix this for me ? cheers

When after fitting a Hicas eliminator I want to rid myself of unwanted hydraulics can I undo the hydraulics at the front of the Z down by the pump / reservoir. The raeson I ask is that Ive got a blanking plug which is hard to fit and I thought that If I could get the hydraulic lkine cut up front I wouldnt have to fit the plug. Any Ideas >>>>>

i have seen a sudden influx in zeds around my area (hastings/bexhill)- Gunmetal grey, a259 bexhill road, travelling westbound (at the weekend) red, a259 bexhill road, parked (private plate 2 letters, 2 numbers) (at the weekend) red k300 ***, glyne gap roundabout (today) silver, glyne gap roundabout (today) blue with silver/blue fading tints, rockanore, hastings - (seem to remember us being in the same convoy to jae??) 5 in the space of a week - thats unheard of down 'ere!

Anyone know if the reversing switches on the gearbox are the same on all manual gearboxes? Next, has anyone got one for sale and can get it to me before easter. It's for jap import twin turbo swb manual. :bow:

The car started up and sounded fine this morning (apart from a blowing exhaust). On the way home the car started to make a regular tapping noise coming from the engine and when the revs were increased the tapping noise would get faster and slightly louder. :confused: Any help on this would be much appreciated. Going back to thread I started before about air vents, I am only getting air out of the centre dash vents, nothing from the screen vents or footwell vents. It would seem that the air direction is not being moved to each. Now I guess its motorised, but where do I look to see if the plug has been knocked, taken off or a fuse gone. Cheers, Scrawni.

Can anyone help , as i am new to the zed, and its seems that on cold starting in the mornings the choke system does not want to work :rant: , causing me to try and keep the engine turning with the gas pedal. Any ideas anyone , and in basic terms and where to find the part etc :confused: thanks

Guys I am about to order some plates from fancyplates but after using search i have discovered that there are at least three diffrent plate sizes claimed for an import Z. So what IS the definitive size I should be ordering for the rectangular front plate and "square" rear? I am quite keen on getting the 3/4 size front btw. Cheers for your help.

does anyone know if the 'Z' badge between the headlights on an import is the same size as the 'Nissan' on a UK car? some git has nicked mine and I fancy replacing it with a 'Z' rather than the Nissan burger.

Auto to manual, Is the engine exactly the same in the 2? And is it then just in the autobow where the power (bhp figures) difference lies :confused: Does anyone know for definate?

I bought this Zed a couple of weeks back and I need to replace one of the wheels but I dont know what they are. Does anyone on here recognise them?

Well after getting new engine and numerous auto boxes replaced she thought she would decide to blow a coolant line. Got back from work ok, and checked to see if I had any leaks from autobox. No leaks from autobox, cool, but instead a load of coolant was coming from somewhere at the rear of the engine bay right in the middle, anyone got any ideas?? Cheers.

Hi there, since selling my 2nd 200sx I'm now wanting a 300 tt but cant find out if its best to go for a UK or Import. seems to be conflicting info about this so any advice is welcome. i feel like i'm :headvswal at the moment cheers Matt

I bought one Z fuel pump on Ebay, it problably comes from an US TT version (2+0) as the strainer (bottom-end filter) is not attached to the pump itself but to a longer hose. On the 2+2 TT, the strainer + pump is straight. I just re-used the fuel pump unit itself. I had some difficulties to put back the pump in place in the tank. I think the bottom-end filter hits the plastic compartment (reserve) at the bottom of the tank. I finally managed to push it inside but by forcing a bit, and I hope the bottom-end filter is still attached or the pump body is still attached to the rubber bracket. Is there any experience about this ? Is there a special angle or tri…

I have just recieved some suspension off a member on here and the fronts are KYB AJX but the rears are Tokico M-B Z-32-R they have an adjustment bolt on the top as shown in pictures which is red with numbers 1 - 5 on them. Has anybody ever come across this make before and are they any good?? I have not fitted the springs to them yet before anybody say's. Thanks in advance.

Right guys, I need your considered advice and expertise; I want to put in three extra gauges in the extra DIN slot so: 1. Where can i get gauges that look STOCK (i.e. same colours and intensity of lighting - completely stock to match speedo). 2. Which gauges are recommended? 3. Most people say go for water temp gauge - isnt the Oil temp the important thing? 4. I was thinking of getting two analogue gauges and one digital readout - does anyone know of any readout that looks like the display in the aircon system on a series II (i.e the Blue digital readout)? Is there a guide somewhere to removing the air con? I'm sure I've seen one, but just spent 20 minutes searching and can't find it.

They just stay on :confused: Only when I indicate, doesn't matter if I indicate left, right or hazards. It used to happen before but not all the time and when I switched the car off and back on they would work properly, but now it's been two days and they just stay on each time I try to signal. Help... Also is it ok to drive the car like this?

Hi, anyone got any ideas, i changed over at the weekend the plastic air tubing from the air filter to some nice polished ones , but i think i must have touched something else, because now when i start the z when cold, it trys to stall on me for about 20 seconds. Its a 1991 na import ,,,,, help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
