General Discussions - 300ZX Related

my car is really pissin me off :( every now and then it starts running on 5 cylinders and sounds real lumpy (bit like a V8 if you get my drift). Power is down etc so I pull over and on tickover you can hear its not right. Ive tried tapping the coil packs - moving leads, tapping connectors to temp senders, ptu aetc all whilst running. about 2 mins later it'll just clear up for no reason, Ill be hobbling along then like that its back to normal Where should I be looking?

Anyone know where the best place to get replacement OEM front shockers from? Can only find rears on Luke's site :confused:

Hi, I have Datascan working now, but I'm not sure what the correct readings from all of the sensors should be. So it's difficult for me to check stuff out and know what’s going on. Are there any posts or documented stuff regarding this? I'd like to learn a bit about how each sensor works and affects the car. Cheers, Bart

Help please... I have wired in a new DVD Headunit, and seperate motorised screen today. The wiring was straight forward, but had to hardwire it. This new unit does not have an orange wire, which I believe is the 'Illumination' wire on most units, as with the unit I removed, but may be wrong :confused: as the wire had 'ILL' written on its tag :confused: So all is wired up, but the orange wire has no where to go, so left it unconnected. The player and screen work perfectly. Everything appeared OK, until I turned my lights on tonight. I now have no side lights, rear lights, or instrument lights (speedo cluster).. Mines just developed a leak at the rear, but not from the heater hoses (Checked all 4 connections and they are perfect (look new)), it appear to be coming from the left-hand side near to the top of the block. I drops about half a cup full then stops until the engine is run again. Having checked some old posts, is it likely to be coming from the tube marked with the red arrow (thanks in advance to Andyduff for the engine picture)? If so whats the best way to replace this hose and can i use either the 8mm or 6mm silicon tube as supplied by Smithy, or as the size is different at each end will I have to order a replacement from Nissan? Any ideas? Thanks

When sorting out my rear speaker (drivers side uk car) I noticed a big silver disc with clarion stamped on it. Im guessing it was the old electric aerial? If it is how do you get the boot speaker pocket off? I had a look but it wasnt immediatly obvious how to get it off to get access to this disc thingy..

Just need to check where the coolant goes within the engine, apart from the radiator cap, facing windscreen, to the right of the radiator cap in the corner is a cap with 'coolant/refrigfrant' is this the engine coolant or air conditioning coolant? Cheers Ed

Reg G602 UHX. Yesterday at about 7pm at Parkway Centre in Coulby Newham. Had club stickers in the back windows. You were behind the wife in her very mucky Black Corsa coming out of the Parkway Centre.

My clutch has started slipping in higher gears when the turbos kick in. What is a good all round clutch that will take the power but not be so stiff i need to use both legs to depress it? What do most people on here use?

Hi guys. I am looking to paint my brake calipers(no problem) and the Hub(don't know if thats the right way of putting it - the bit that the alloy sits on ;-) ). Is there any paint/do's and don'ts for this kind of thing? Cheers

The z i just bought has only been in the country since feb it has been delimited and the clocks chaned for mph. As a whole the car seems un abused and in very good nic the engine is very clean no signs of oil or any leakage. Is any one able to tell me if there is any problems i should specificaly look out for with it? Thanks.

i've brought this up before but i've renewed the drivers side injector rail as the rear injector was faulty. i picked up the car yesterday and it is still running like a pig. i removed the coilpack plug on the rear whilst the engine was running and the engine revs dropped which obviously means that one's ok now. however it now seems to be the middle one on the same side not working. i'm kicking myself as i took a chance on using a second hand injector rail which obviously doesn't come with any gaurantees. i'm at the stage now where a gallon of petrol and a match is the cheaper option!! if i can't sort it soon i will put it up for sale (as is), perhaps someone in the club …

Hi, I got a fresh import tt and the guy who i bought it from had delimited it and had the speedo converted as he does with all the z's he sells, i took it down the motorway to test the top speed and got scared at 160 as a slight bend was coming up and i am not used to the car or 160mph the best my previos cars could manage was 140. The z got there with no problems at all and very fast it took me by supprise how quickly it got up there i havnt had a chance to try out the top end again but does any one know what the top speed of a delimited jap import tt should be? Hi all, I want to fit a set of DTM Style door mirrors on my Zed. I enquired about the one's supplied by Halfords, but they don't do the backing plate for the 300 :confused: Does anyone know of a supply source for these mirrors for the Zed? Hi folks, I've got a question about the sounds that dump valves (BOV's) make. In the fast and the furious film the dump valves don't make the usual wooshing sound. To me it sounds more like a rattle. Is this a particular type of BOV i.e. HKS SSQV or Dual piston type? Cheers, Mark

should i de-cat my twinturbo or not?i have heard that if i do then my turbos will wear out more quickly.is this true and if i do de-cat what sort of gains will i be seeing?

It looks like the facts have become a little twisted regarding traders not allowed to sell branded parts that other traders on the board already sell. There is no rule in this club to say that each trader can’t sell parts that another trader supplies. This is a gentleman’s agreement between the traders and you will find that a large number of traders do work along side each other supplying each other with many parts. Our club is unique in this method and many other top car clubs have looked at the way this works and emailed me to say it looks like our system works very well and unlike theirs they don’t see massive bun fights and arguments between online traders.
