Hi guys, I viewed a 300ZX Twin Turbo today and thought id publish my findings. The guy had it up for sale for £6k and is a 1994 manual. I thought for £6k it should be a very nice example! It has a few nice modifications too, such as twin Kakimoto exhausts, Greddy boost controller, Greddy turbo timer and a Blitz turbo guage. The car has coilovers, a nice looking bodykit and aftermarket alloy wheels. I went to have a look with high hopes with a massive grin on my face, itching to have a go, thinking this is too good to be true. Anyway, first impressions were good. i want to see what the condition of my rear handbreak shoes are like, is there a procedure for checking these ie: removal of calipers etc and then rotor, or can i just undo caliper bolts hang out of way with line still attatched, remove rotor disc and then inspect or is there some thing i may have to do first?? thanks guys.

im just about to replace my callipers with better condition ones...do i have to renew my pads? my previous callipers were sticking so will that have damages the pads? they are relatively new (december) any help or advice much appreciated. also how easy is it to fit the callipers? do i need any special tools? ta, nick

I fitted a short shifter to my old rover 620ti and it made a huge difference to the general driving experience. I'm looking to do the same with my z and I'm gonna buy a short shift kit pretty soon. When I got the one for the rover I was quoted 20min fitting time and it took me well over 2 hours! Exhaust and gear linkage all had to come off! (Was well worth it tho). Has anyone fitted such a kit to their z? How long did it take and I take it its all gonna have to be done from underneith? My Z is a little more difficult to get under than a rover! There are 2 short shift kits for the 300zx on ebay at the mo, one cheaper one at £27.95 start and one at £45 buy it now…

How do i get to it to run a diagnostic??

Just picked up a 300sx. Had a small test drive at slow speed and all seemed fine. Did the deal, but when driving home, I opened it up and I got loads of hesitation and no real power. The engine sounds fine when standing still and reved. Any ideas?

Please could a mod shrink my signature size by half, been trying all night and its doing my head in!! Or could the top and bottom be cropped off leaving just the car. Thanks in advance Dave

Remember me posting this? Valves not seating AARRGGHH Well after a good dose of Wynnes and Redex and a bit of smoke shes running on all six again.With only the occasional missfire. And getting less all the time. When i removed the plenum i noticed someblack marks on a couple of the valves which didnt look like carbon.So as a last reort i tried using the above.And bloody hell its working.

any ideas? doesnt seem to do anything

Hi there,just been out in the Z there only to find that when i go over speed bumps the car seems to bounce a lot at the back end,and when i went round a roundabout the back end bounces when it passes rough parts of the road to the extent that it feels like the tail wants to slip out? Could the shocks be worn? Anyone had a similar problem? Its an import N/A....thanks in advance guys :)

Can anyone tell me the torque settings for the rear subframe bolts as i am planning on swapping the old bushes for some solid metal ones . :confused:

Im having a job to remove the bolt that holds the inner / upper track arm in position. Its the adjustable one and so Im not sure of the design and I have never removed one of these before. I really could use some advise from someone who knows what Im talking about and has removed it themselves.

Got this rumble kind of grind noise as I turn my stearing. It sounds like its coming from the rear. Does anyone know if the hicas has an effect on the wheel brgs or if I get air in the atf fluid it will make that sort of noise. Chears.

It would appear that my aftermarket exhaust has been made without holes for the two secondary o2 sensors. As they were tucked underneath the car, only noticed when one fell out and was dragging down the road. What's the impact on my car's runnin without these in the exhaust???? Any ideas would be a help, cheers :bow:
