I collected my Zed from Jimmer yesterday, after my little auto-box failure.... I bought the box from Gray's Impul Zed from its new owner, Dipone (Thanks Trevor), got it delivered to Jim's and he duly fitted it for me. Plus I had a couple of little niggles fixed too... Some new anti-roll-bar links, plus a replacement windscreen washer motor , as my old one was leaking. Oh, and Jim also fitted my Z1 aluminium undertray as well. Thank you Jim - you're a star mate!! I also met Jim's neighbour from Infinity Exhausts - and have agreed a return trip next month, to get a nice new custom-built exhaust fitted.... I'll post more about that once it's been done ?

Hey guys, Finally got my 300zx back on the road after some pretty extensive repairs and a respray! Since the MOT I've found that my front and side passenger indicators aren't working. They also don't work when the hazards are on so probably nothing to do with that. Any ideas what could cause this?

Hello all I have joined to try and help a friend, he doesn't understand the Internet..so... he has 1987 300zx, the cooling fan and temperature gauge do not work, he has checked all fuses and connectors, if he bridges a plug at the bottom of the rad the fan will run flat out, if he puts the wire to ground from the temperature sensor in the v of the engine, still no joy, unfortunately he left the car ticking over and it boiled over. I hope this makes sense and I hope someone can help, Cheers Gary

Hi guys, been looking at ways to decrease the brake pedal travel on the zed, this come from driving a modern car daily with far less pedal travel than the zed, so I end up nearly going through the windscreen the first few miles on Monday morning. The zed stops fine and has new brake fluid ( after getting the brake pipes replaced) I’ve seen the upgraded bmc banded around saying it has a larger piston to stock etc, do these actually make a difference? Or are there any other ways to decrease pedal travel?

I need a bit of help. The car is making a hissing noise like a lorry/bus dumping its air. Ive narrowed it down to a liquid dripping from an AC pipe where it goes into the firewall. It doesnt produce the liquid, therefore the noise, when I dont use the AC. Its not coolant as Ive checked that, its not oil as its a clear liquid and the car doesnt smell of oil. I suspect its condensation from the AC pipe. It then drips onto the hot manifold below and instantly evaporates making the hissing noise. I have never own a zed with working AC until this one, but Ive never heard it make this noise in the year I have owned it. Is this normal or should I be worried? Ive attached a pictu…

All back together and running on all 6. However as it got up to temperature it started to steam. (can't upload a video here). It's not oil. I suppose it could be coolant but in honesty I don't know what burnt coolant smells like. I've had the valve covers powder coated - could it be a shit finish they've applied and it's reacting badly to heat? For info the heads have not been touched. Edit: for clarity I've done 120k service, valve cover gaskets powder coated and refitted with new seals etc. Plenu coolant line bypass.

Hi Guys & Girls, The Porsche is up and running very nicely, so onto the 300. I am looking to refurb the front and rear subframes, the whole underside, brake lines, PS lines & Fuel lines. Big Job. Started by removing the rear bumper, looks like it has never been off before, then draining the petrol (still in the process). Took some underside pictures of the task in hand, it’s not bad mostly surface rust. I will be cutting all rust out and welding it my self, if I can build a complex Porsche engine and it hasn’t exploded after 300 miles, anything is worth a try.

I've recently deleted my HICAS and only just now put the car back on its wheels and started it to turn it around in my garage. So this is the first time since the delete. I now seem to have no power steering at all. The HICAS light is illuminated but I expected that and I believe there is a wire snip fix for that light, which I was going to do later on? As far as I was aware this wouldn't cause loss of power steering? I have deleted the solenoid completely though and used the common fixing to loop the lines in the engine bay. Are there some additional steps when deleting the solenoid?

Hello Everyone, I'm new to this Forum I really need your help. This is the first time in trying to change my timing belt and while going through the steps per the Owners Manual, while attempting to remove the bolt on the passenger side, intake camshaft sprocket, the sprocket turned a few degrees to the left of the timing mark that's located on the rear cover. Will this cause anything to be damaged? Can I rotate sprocket back to its original position at the timing mark before I place new timing belt on? Thanks for any help on this matter. I got really nervous when this happened. I had a friend who was holding the inner bolt (10mm) with a socket and ratchet, but…

Does anyone know off hand what thread the lower drain on the aftermarket radiators are? Mine got an issue and before I go down there, I’d rather just have the correct size part to swap over.

Started to get a horrible rattle on the Z at low revs, so i got it on the ramp and noticed the down pipe heat shield is coming loose. I’ve clamped it for now but i want to remove for new, as it has a SS cat back exhaust fitted. Any opinions on what to get? also I noticed that the Co sensors have both been cut, any ideas why someone would do this?

Afternoon, I know the R33 brakes fit the 300zx, are they much bigger than the 300zx standard callipers? Im buying a set tomorrow to get better clearance for a new set of wheels (currently got Evo 8 Brembos and discs on), but don’t want to spend all the money only to find they are too big as well.

Hiya, hope you're all well. I haven't visited for a while - a combination of being particularly busy and also now on an island with no cars (which might mean a nice 'vert for sale later). Reason for the post is that I've just had the renewal notice for www.300zxtt.com which I've had for years but never done anything with. I'm happy to pass it on if anyone here wants it (no charge). You've got until 10 April to pm me. Oh, and for fun, here's me and my ride on this island in 1978 Cheers!

Is it true that I can’t get 99 spec front lights any more, that they are discontinued? I wanted some and most suppliers have discontinued. Z1 say they are getting more (2 months ago) but no one else is saying that.

....As subject, I have finally managed to kill my auto-box after 122k miles. Driving back from Dorset, I was about 40 miles from home, thundering along a dual carriageway, when the 'box changed down to second without warning - and would not, despite anything I did, change back up. I had to limp home avoiding the rest of the A34 and M4 at no more than 40mph so as not to rev the engine to buggery. All I have now are first and second gear - third and overdrive are gone, it seems ? I know an excellent auto-box specialist in Aylesbury, who can do a quality, warrantied full rebuild - he did my red Zed - and it would probably be done within a week. I could final…

Besides Z Centre, are there any other UK supplies of aftermarket parts, primarily spoilers that people use? Or is it imports only? I want a new spoiler as I don't like one on the car but fancy something a bit different to the ones on Z Centre. Thanks

My 94 N/A 300zx stopped cranking, I replaced the starter and the starter relay but still no crank. Whenever you try to crank it a loud squealing noise can be heard from the rear of the car. I can't seem to figure out why it won't crank. If you have any ideas on what I can try to do that would be greatly appreciated!

Now I’ve finally got a 300zx, I apologise for the amount of topics I’m going to create! ? I live in the Bucks/Herts area of the country and am looking for a specialist local to me to look after my Zed in terms of servicing and maintenance. I know Jimmer is the UK God on this matter but logistically it’s not easy for me to get over there. Zed Perfomance in Dagenham good? Cheers
