I was leaving Britannia Bridge this afternoon and was contemplating overtaking a slow-moving MPV where the road branches back to a dual carriageway, when I notice some prick in a Porsche overtaking the cars behind me well before the two lanes started  . I didn't know the specs for this car but I was so pissed off that I gunned it and successfully passed him within 1/4 of a mile. As I passed him he gave me the :xxx: which just served to prove that he was indeed a cock.

I've had a 300ZX for almost 10 years, 95000 on the clock, it's been a great car and still is but it's just failed the MOT due to exhaust emission not being up to required standard. Having had it checked it's cats or sensors but it's a big job because it's not easy to access and the mechanic I have used is not keen to tackle it as it's a specialist job. Has anybody out there had similar problem or can anybody suggest where I can get the job done without going to a Nissan dealer and paying through the nose ? I've just bought a 350Z and will want to reluctantly sell the 300Z but don't want to pay a lot to make it saleable. If anybody out there is interested in buying it at…

Read on an american Z Site somewhere that a good mod is to remove the cooling fan thats driven from the crankshaft and fit an electric fan to the radiator instead. Can lose up to 10hp through crank driving fan, this sorta makes sense... Any truth in it?

Hey all Finally got the new engine loom in, new ptu and interior back in with new cabling for the amp, speakers front and rear, and cleaned up, looks great. But! Its still pretty smoky but not persistent, 2nd gear 2500 to 3000 revs we get a gentle amount of very oily smoke. Under acceleration its fine, stop and its fine but every now and then pull up and your are overtaken by a smoke cloud! My question is how do I get the car to stop smoking? get the engine rebuilt? new seals rings etc? get rid of the de-cat? 100 cel cats? Anyhow answers on a post card please.

Been out in the Zed today and noiced a hissing noise comming from the top left hand corner of the engine. There is a t pipe connecter with air (the hissing) comming out the other end and my boost gauge (stock) was showing bost in the middle of the dail. I took the t pipe connect off and connected the two hoses together which seens to have sorted the problem, the gauge now shows the boost to how it should be. Why would this t connecter just start hissing from one end and what do you think it is for. maybe the owner in Japen had a manual boost controller? Any comments please.......

  8. Ok lets cover the U/D pulley situation, decided to fit it today and it was going sweet as a nut until reassembly, got the U/d off danny at dta(aka smithys) and on fitting found that the tolerances for the woodruff key on the crank were too tight on the pulley side, the key would not fit in the pulley, was a pain in the ass really as I was working at the side of the road didn't have any files and couldn't get the pulley on( before you say it I am used to woodruff keys as they use them on sea king tail gearboxes, I checked the key off the car on the pulley and the fit on pulley side was too small), I ended up using some sandpaper on a flat surface and slightly removing a bi…

Finally got a few days off so decided to fit the U/D pulley tomorrow and spend the full day on the Z getting it nice and tidy and retensioning the injector connectors, heres hoping i dont break anything, including myself, for some reason lately everytime i touch anything on the Z i end up cutting, bruising, slicing, breaking and generally hurting myself, it must be all the room in the engoine bay thats the problem.

I discovered today (with the help of repeated phone calls to AndyP, thanks again mate!) that my car has a Mines ECU, fitted in Japan. Does anyone know anything about it/them? All i could find out about it was this snippet of info. Rev limit: 7550 v 7000 for stock VTC solenoid: 4900 v 5900 Mines ecu at low TP at low rpm actually runs slightly leaner than stock At low rpm and high TP it runs more lean. High rpm and low TP is identical High rpm and high TP more lean Mines runs more advanced timing at high rpm, high TP and through mid rpm, and mid TP ranges, but is largely identical elsewhere. Mines runs a almost idential knock timing map…
