Hey guys and girls Lots of smoke at the W/E so took it into the garage and low compression on number 5, full of oil. Its coming out tomorrow to get the full picture. Gutted once again! Hey Ho at least it will be fixed when I get it back I guess. Any tips for what to get done while its out? I was going to get the engine bay steam cleaned and get the heater matrix replaced. Its got wiseco pistons and 555's is it worth investing in after market rods or are the standard ones up to the job? Cheers

Now i have seen a few posts on here saying: To get the engine out took the good part of a morning, or spent the day taking the engine out. :( Ive just spent the second day on it and i still need to seperate gearbox and then disconnect the wireing loom and then lift the engine out. Hard graft. Respect to you 300zx gods :duffer:

Anyone know if it's possible to compression test an engine not in the car??? If it is possible how is it done, I have a tempoary engine to put in the car and want to make sure it's ok before I spend a few days doing it. I know I could take the heads off to check pistons/valves etc but as it's only tempoary I would rather not!

I bypassed my det sensor with a resistor about 6 months ago and got rid of the code 34. I have had a new engine fitted since then and have been told that the sensor was working fine on it before it was removed from the other car. I was at Zfest the other week and was told that with the resistor fitted it will get rid of the error but the ecu will still know the difference as the sensor normally gives different resistances, not the constant 1k ohms. He also said that it will still run safty boost and the timing will be retarded. I have a boost controller which overrides the safty boost but I'm worried about the timing being retarded due to this. i asked him to ch…

Just got the car back after full engine rebuild and is now fully run in. I am now up in Glasgow and looking for any recommendations for a rolling road in the area. I used a company called AVA about 10years ago and would like to know if anyone else has used/recommends them? Or any other rolling roads in the area?

I have a jap import TT and am travelling between manchester and newcastle three times a week in it. I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out a few different fuels and driving styles (eg 2000 vs 2500 vs 4000 rves most of the way) to determine the best mpg. Only problem is thats its an arse to keep converting litres per kilometer to mpg - anyone got a good link to a site that will do this? the firs half dozen i tried on google have been crap. I have had two runs already and the MPG changed from 27 to 21 just by switching fuels! Hopefully the data will be interesting - i might post it up after a few months. many thanks

Hello, I have just had a GReddy Profec B Spec II boost controller fitted to my motor by Z-Tech however it wasn't setup and I am now trying to get this sorted. I have read the instructions and understand (mostly) what each parameters varies. I have also used the recommended settings posted on here a while ago, the problem is however I cannot get anything above 10.5 PSI no matter what settings I use. Does anyone have any ideas as this is frustrating after spending big money on something that is currently useless. The car also has just had BOV's fitted. Lloyd

Does anyone know of, or have, a decent photo of the front suspension taken from the underside (like they do in the Haynes manuals) Even one showing all (well as much as you can) of one side, as the other side would be a mirror of the same. Anything appreciated, with thanks, Dave

Hi Guys and Girls Just thought I'd tell you about some exemplary service from Zedworld. Some of you will know about the water loss problems and the carry back off the M40 after the blown replacement Rad. Well Geoff ordered a new all metal rad and was told it would be here today, Well it wasn't so Geoff lent me the one from HIS Zed.... and said when mine arrives he'll call me and swap them while I wait Can't beat that for service Thanks Geoff... You're a star Tony

Hi Guys I'm driving down the motorway in my automatic twin turbo and she is cruising at about 3,500, then all of a sudden without warning she will increase revs to 4,500 but she doesn't get any faster. After a few mins she returns to normal and the does it again. Oh and I have had a new/old engine put in recently, don;t know if that piece of info is a help or not. Any thoughts????? :headvswal Spencer

What could be the possible cause of ZX boosting to just 0.5 bar... Things I have checked / points of interest... 1) TPS voltage is fine and seems ok, idle is steady at 1K after the car has warmed up 2) Power to boost solenoids is 12V+ when the throttle is open 3) Can't seem to find any major boost leaks but engine does sounds a bit more hissy than other 300's I have had - difficult to see exactly where the hiss is coming from, it's roughly towards the top of the engine near balance bar area... 4) Have cleaned cleaned up some of the connectors such as water temp, TPS, AFM, but doesn't seem to make any difference 5) ECU check is all clear Code 55... …
