General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I was quite content working away on the Z, a bit at a time, doing the job right and not rushing things, I was planning on doing all the bits that needed fixing over the rest of the year and putting it back on the road next spring.... now after being in yours I want it back on the road asap.... must resist or i'll just hash it all back together and regret it next year.

when a 300 tt was new in 1991 what was the top speed susposed to be ?? bhp , 0-60... anyone any ideas????

Just thought I would let people know that this months Japanese Performance magazine has the 300ZX feature starring our very own FunkySi. It's a six page profile of the 300ZX and has lots of very good photos and write up. Go buy it now! We also get a good plug for the club as well! :cool: p.s. There is also a free Retro-Jap magazine included with it and the 300ZX is one of 8 cars listed as future classics (no sign of any Supras, Skylines or GTOs!!! :tongue: :duffer: )

Any advice on where i should look for a Z in the Yorkshire area? Obviously K-T-C is out of the question. Any one have any views on the other car centre in keighley? or are they the same company using different names? Thank you

Hi, Im currently looking at buying a 300zx TT. Have been after 1 for ages and finally got the cash. the only thing putting me off is the Toyota Supra. I do a lot of quarter mile runs. How easy is it to tune the 300? Am i looking at having to spend thousands just to get a few extra bhp? Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but i dont know much about the zx engine and its capabilities. Thank you

I am fitting a sub, amp and speakers in the boot area of my 300zx. Everything is going great except one thing. How on earth (excuse the pun) do you get the thick feed cable from the car into the engine bay??? There are no holes in the fire wall and the only way I can see it would be possible is down through the gear box bay and up under the car? I know loads of members have done this job so how did you cope please. Thanks vini

Got some money sat in my paypal thanks to a nice gent on here buying some stuff off me, anyway I cant think what to spend it on. If i leave it there my wife will end up buying some rubbish for the house. Any ideas? Most of the tack off ebay i already have lol. Dont need a boost controller or Tubby timer, or wheels or suspension or bodykit or nismo gearknob lol.

Ordered a set from the states KYN GR2's really quickly delivered, but UPS ripped me off a bit. basically they are labeled $44 dollars in value, looks like customs messed up how much i needed to pay and charged me £15 duty and then ups charged a £11 surcharge. Thats £26 on what is effectivley a £22 item. but i have them now and they look lovely and shiney (unlike the rest of my car :))

zeddy is ill again, when running cold (well up for about 20 mins) she will not run smoothly at all... will keep throttle at a certain position when driving, and it will drop 500rpm for about half a second, then come back to life again. then it wont do it again for 30 seconds to a minute and do it again. when running for 15+ minutes the problem disapears. sorry for the vagueness, but just wondered what the fault may be before i look into it further?

Got the car back today after having this done and what a difference, it seems a few of us have had auto box issues lately must be a bug going round :) well its like driving another car now. :)

just fitted my hid kit and one of the bulbs strobes and goes out ive checked to see if the wiring was wrong and tried using the other ballast but it still strobes and knocks off is the buld fubar'd need to sort it quick before the local chavs thinks theres a rave going on in my garage cheers in advance

I've searched and searched but is there any info on doing the pedals for the man. conversion. I'm thinking brake pedal could be just "shaved off" a bit,I have a pedal to put in if not. If anyone knows of any other links than z1 motorsports? I'm trying to print off as much info as i can for the garage, I think it would of help great help to him. He's a good mechanic but never worked on a 300 before so any time saving, frustration saving tips would be extremely grateful. he reckons the pedals will be the trickiest bit. Just considering whether to go crazy and purchase it for about £2000. and then proberbly spend another £1000 getting fitted if not more.. Anyone done it? Been chatting to someone and they reckon you can get the kits with the turbo for about 2K and one big turbo is better than 2 ??

out of a series 4 i have been told it is alot stronger than the older ones (i dont know if this is correct or not) and has done about 55,000 miles

Car is from Japan, imported in 2003, is there a way to tell if the cam belt has been done or not? I know it will need the 60K mile service soon anyway, and they do it then, but why waste the money if its already been done (will have rest of service anyway). Mickey at ZworX is working on it on Friday, replacing the auto box, will he be able to tell? Cheers Folks! Jon
