My MOT is due soon and there is a lot of travel on the hand brake and some side ways movement. What would I need to take up this slack. Checked out the online service manuel to adjust hand brake. Would I really have to go to all the trouble of taking the rear wheels and discs off to adjust the brake shoes, or would I not get enough adjustment at the hand brake to save all that work.

Hi all Bit of a long read, but hopefully give you an insight to our journey. After having returned from the zrun to Amsterdam, i thought i would write a short review for those interested in taking part next year. Meeting at Dover with anticipation of everyone arriving, i couldnt wait to get the journey started. We had mini meet while waiting for Wozzer, zogg and Jimmytt at a garage just down the road from the ferry terminal. We all left the garage to head for the ferry and it was nice to see a convoy of zeds. Unfortunately, while waiting in the queue for tickets, Ianl's car started smoking. It looked pretty bad at first, but turned out to be a water…

Hit another problem with the new shell... Swapped over the window switches from the Series 1 to the Series 2 along with the window actuator and the plugs matched so I assumed all would be good (windows were working in old shell) but there's a spare plug in the door - see pic - and the windows don't work. It got too late to get the multimeter out, but is there an extra component in the Series 2 door?? To complicate things, there is some 'extra' wiring which i assume is from a total closure alarm which I'll have to remove and put back as was, but can't see how it could affect anything as it's disconnected... so - can anyone identify what this plug goes to - i…

I've got to remove the engine from my old zed, had a look at the engine removal FAQ in the faqs section but it doesn't work :headvswal I've got the service manuals that tell you briefly how to get it out but I was wondering if one of our resident guru's would be kind enough to do another engine removal faq? :D I've never removed an engine before let alone a zeds and could do with a little advice and tips. cheers Dave

Just seen FunkySi's thread regarding his pictures of his zed in Japan and decided to have another look at mine when I bought it in October '04. These weren't the pictures of the car in Japan but were those used by the previous owner when he advertised the car. I've used the photos from last year's JAE "Show & Shine" as a comparison. Quite shocked at the difference, when you consider the car is four years older. Photos of the exterior: Before After

Looks quite a bit different from when it was here. These photos were taken before de-registration in Japan. Strange looking back at these. It's only by these that I realised what an awful stance it had! Got good money for those Rays wheels then when I fitted my Advans. Compare it to now, it looks quite a bit different.

Hi Guys I have a Fairlady and I need to replace the discs and pads on all four corners. The problem is that no-one can get me a price as they say the rear discs aren't listed. Are they the same as the UK disc and pads or are they a different size? If they are different can someone suggest where I can get them from? Better still can someone suggest a good/value for money garage that will do it for me. Oh by the way I am based in surrey. Thanks Spencer

About a year an a half ago I blew a head gasket so I had the engine removed and the head gaskets both changed, The car fired up straight away but was not firing on one of the back cylinders (now this is the confusing part) there is fuel getting through and there is a spark I have also done a compression test and that too is fine, The only thing i can think of now is that one of the valves is sticking........ Could this be a possibility?? The other thing is that the oil pressure is quite low (cant remember the reading but i have checked it with a separate gauge to eliminate a faulty sensor) Any help would be greatly appreciated guys, Thanks

After a week off with lots of jobs planned the result was disapointing, the manifolds weren't finished in time, no oil fittings  So I cracked on and fitted the Hicas lockout bar and my boost, water temp and oil pressure gauges and the Megan lowering springs- although that led to the discovery of 2 kn*ckered shock absorbers. The good news is that the manifolds, two replacement shocks, oil fittings should all be deivered tomorrow  I will post some pics then and on the weekend when it's all fitted up.

  18. Hi Guys, A while back the black plastic bleed screw on the top of my Koyo decided to shear off, I found that an M10 bolt fitted nicely with some rubber washers - which worked up until last week... when I accidentally overtightened and stripped the threads in the alloy flange. I have attempted to tap it out to an M12, but all that did was make the hole bigger and only give it 1 thread (I have never tapped anything in my life... this may be the problem lol)... Does anyone know if i would get away with an M14 tap on the flange?!, or is it best to seek somewhere that can replace the flange with a new one? TIA Chaps, -Stu

Hi chaps, Ive got a 93 tt I know its been covered on here before but my issue seems slightly different. I get a tap from the engine when its cold. When its warmed fully, the tapping disappears. Sometimes though, the sound reappears even when its been on a long blast! Like sat at the lights for example. It also varies in volume too. Sometimes its very quiet/no sound at all but sometimes it sounds like the old Ford kent engine! Will be checking my oil level at lunch but its just a bit alarming thats all. Any help would be great, cheers Adam

  23. I haven't driven my Zed properly since last October. On Sunday I repaired a power steering leak, overhauled the brake calipers, changed the pads & fluid. Then I took it out for a good drive to test it all....... :eek:GOOD GOD, these cars are fast. You soon forget! And I can see why real respect is needed, being rear drivers you can easily get caught out! Absolutely effortless power, overtaking 4, 5, 6 cars with ease. The acceleration is very addictive. Its good to have a break from them some times, it makes you appreciate them all the more:) BTW running basic mods - 1mm tips/Zedworld ECU/aftermarket exhaust and Apexi induction kit, so imagine running 340b…

Hi guys, my Zed has some nice 18inch wheels on them, but they are all 8.5 inch wide with an offset of ET38 On the fronts I'm running 225's, on the rears 245's. I was careful to select the correct profiles to keep the right overall wheel size for the speedo. What size wheel spacers would I need at the front and rear to give my car a better stance and push the wheels out to make it look meaner? The car is riding standard height & I don't want any rubbing issues. Any opinions much appreciated.....:duffer:
