I was driving home from work today, when all of a sudden the engine started to make a rattling sound, the sound gradualy got worse until i decided to pull up and investigate what noise was. when i opened the bonnet smoke poured out, i looked underneath the car and there seems to be what looks like water dripping from behind the plastic floor pan that covers the underneath of the engine. i tried to re-start the car to get me home and it started for a few seconds then just died out. ive noticed the temp guage is showing normal temp. can anyone help? by the way its a series 2 twin turbo. cheers si

Various comments on various sites regarding boost solenoids and hesitation under high speed/boost Comment 1 i had this problem 1 day after tinkering with the engine in my 2001 classic. was like hitting a brick wall at about 4000rpm. i sh*t myself! i checked all the boost pipes for leaks when i got home, turned out i had knocked the bottom pipe off the boost solenoid, oopsie! Re-fitted the pipe, prob solved. i would check all the boost pipes. Comment 2 I don't have any boost problems taking it of the bcs. First thing to check is boost leak. Might worth trying the car without the dv as they can be a problem. A doddy boost solenoid could cause boost issue al…

Hi there everyone, Bit of a strange one that I'm hoping somebody can help with. Cant get to the car at the moment to find out myself, does anyone know the distance from the center of the hub to the center of the caliper mounting holes? Thats on the front by the way. I'm making some brackets to fit Brembo calipers with 350Z discs. Many thanks, Rob

my z is seriously slow, timed it on stopwatch tonight over 3 runs, best i got was 9.3 then 9.7 then 9.8, not in that order tho, its also pap on fuel, i get about 45 miles on 20 quid, it runs smooth as silk and is quiet as a mouse, shows all clear on the ecu diag, and shows plenty boost pressure on the aftermarket guage, there is no smoke whatsoever at all no matter how long it ticks over, or how hard you accellerate!! i realise autos are gonna be a bit less fuel eficient/slower etc but ive had five of these cars and this is definately the slowest by far, so what do i do??? do i take it to jeff ( 300 miles away, fuel will cost me fortune) or do i give it to nissan, or does…

I drove my car quite hard today in the heat, after letting it cool down I noticed blueish smoke coming out of the nearside exhaust, it only seemed to thicken as the car cooled. After switching it off and starting it up several hours later I let it idle again, this time, there was no smoke. Whats causing this? & by changing the oil will it help to stop it smoking? cheers, Dan

im not sure if my auto is behaving itsself or not it seems to shift well particually in the first two gears but seems to shift later into third unless i back off a bit. there are no fault codes from the basic check and the oil looks clean and not burnt. should an oil change and a clean of the filter sort it out or could it be a solinoid. is it likly there is any physical damage to the box?

Evening boys and girls. Very long time no speak! I've finally got the zed MOTed this morning and it's now taxed and on the road. I'm after a few electrical connectors to finish things off properly if anyone's got any going spare. I need the following: TPS connectors, both of them on the loom side. Water temp sensor (the one with two pins). Lamda sensor, loom side and sensor side. Another one at the back, no idea what it is but it's exactly the same as the TPS inline one. Knock sensor, loom side and sensor side. I'm also after radiator brackets that would fit a big Koyo rad. Ta Happy zedding everyone!

I know we have a few bikers on here..... In a couple of months my daily commute will become a 90 mile round trip each day (of which will be about 90% motorway). No way Im using the Z for that so was considering getting myself a diesel but I'm also moving house in a couple of weeks and the new place only really has space for 2 cars (which will be taken up by the Z and the Wifes car), so I'm in a bit of dilemma.... used to be really into bikes when I was in my teens (just 50's and 125's on a CBT though), and it would solve the space issue. Looking into Direct access courses atm. Good Idea / Bad Idea ? What bikes would people recommend, what sort…

Can someone please tell me if these are the correct lower pipes for a twin turbo -basically my car came with a load of spares from a second (n/a) 300zx, and these were in the boot. The issue I have, is that the left hand one: will fit perfectly and the pcv pipe behind the timing cover fits onto the fitting half way down. But the second pipe: seems like its in all the wrong angles, and if it did fit then the two pipe fittings would be on the underside  Do I need a different pipe or am I doing something wrong?? :x:

Been thinking that I need to change the diff in the car now as the R230 feels a bit long geared for the V8, just been looking at the numbers. With 9000rpm limit, in gear speeds are: 56 / 93 / 137 / 179 / 234!!!! Obviously the 5th one is theoretical. Going for the 4.1 gives 50 / 84 / 123 / 161 / 214 Hoping I can maybe find a 4.4, any ideas?
