  1. Yeh but Chris, I can get it cheaper off ebay........... :mac1:
  2. Bloody hell, 1416 posts in four months your not kiding! I was subscribed, think its ran out now, got too many cars to spend time on forums now ;) I spend most of my time fixing them lol. I just nip on for sale sections now and then to see what's about.
  3. Nope but as a rule, I never spend anymore than a couple of hundred, over that it's risky.
  4. Like the sound of the workshop rather than a fine and points!!! Just trying to fish out my log book to send it back, may have to pop round me old house tomorrow and ask the chap to forward any important looking mail! Thanks for the advice and good lucks :)
  5. lol, think that could get me in a little more trouble! But thanks for the advise guys. I like the thought about my speedo being out etc hopefully it all adds up to me not getting a ticket. Problem is, I realised yesterday that I have moved house, and I have not yet sent off my log book, is there any way I can call the DVLA or whoever and get info on if any notifications have been sent to me? cheers.
  6. I hope your right, I really do. Can't be doing with them points and a fine
  7. Well I may have been caught speeding yesterday by one of them shitey camera vans. Not happy really, on the way to and from work on the A419 I always do 60mph because, 1 It saves shit loads of petrol and 2 I timed the difference between doing 80 all the way there and 60 and it was about 3 minutes in total journey as you always hit traffic the other end. So I've been plodding along this road for a year now to and from work. Yesterday driving home following this lorry. He was doing 58 but it was good enough for me. So I followed him 10 miles into Swindon. As we were aproaching swindon he started to slow, more and more until he was doing about 48mph, this I thought was taking the piss slightly in a 70. So I dropped the old girl down a few notches and pegged it up to him and past him when it was safe. As I pulled out at about 70, because It is a fast moving road and continued to accelerate so some the twats in the outside lane who do well over a ton wouldnt plough into me. I looked in my rear view and the traffic that was moving fast slowed as I looked ahead Mobile Speed Camera Van on the bridge I was just flying toward at 80ish. Couldn't see it earlier as the lorry was blocking my view, and didn't see it when I pulled out as i turned to check me blindspot and looked in rear view mirror. Then only when I looked up I saw it and I was too close  I slowed up to 60 (speed limit is 70) as I went under the bridge and out the other side at the speed limit. So anyways, do you guys think he busted me? I'm not sure how them vans work? It looked like the door was open and a filthy camera was pointing toward my lane on the oncoming side, but I went out the other side on the speed limit. Do they catch you oncomming? are the video or photo? and do they just see you comming then get a picture the other side? I have no idea and can't seem to find much on the net about them, all I can find is about fixed stuff and mobile guns etc, not the kit they have in these vans. If I was caught, I would think at most I was 10 mph over the speed limit? what's that worth? It's hard to tell as I wasn't really looking at the speedo until I slowed. Cheers Steve
  8. you can replace old bushes with new ones like these; or this type of bush; or last of all this type; Edited, bit rude lol!
  9. I thought these guys went out of business / stopped selling em about a 18 months ago because of damage to ppls boxs/cars? not that I want to put a downer on your new product line lol. But I wouldn't be buying one judging on their past performance. Having said that Timmy T had one for eons hasnt he?
  10. It's also worth noting it takes time to get used to the auto, how to launch, how to kick it down etc and control the revs / extend the gears. If used to an auto Z you can make it kick down and change up whenever you want. In my old one kicking to the floor past the switch too quick would not make it kick down, you had to feed it in and kick it down, and to change up you had to accel around half way, then ease the throttle up to about 1/10 and it would notch up. Launching NEEDS left foot braking, even if you dont pull against the brakes, going from full on brake to full on accel with one foot makes for a crap launch, you need to be off brake on accel same time or prime the accel so its ready when you let up on brake. I remember when I got my first Z, I couldn't make it seem as fast or go as well as the previous owner, then when I got used to contorling the box and a feel for it, I could make it do what I wanted. When a friend of mine bought his Auto Z, he also had the same thing, couldn't get it to seem as fast or go as well as me lol. Bizzare it may be, but it's true! The auto also has massively long gears as most autos do. You are looking at gearing for a top end of 200mph in only four gears, so one less than manual and geared longer! 1st is good for 45 easy, 2nd for 95, 3rd 150 and 4th beyond. Don't be affraid to cog it down manually, despite what some people say, this doesnt harm the autobox. Also, TBH, 280hp in a Z does not feel like much, you are looking at around 160hp per ton, tired Z's will be more like 140+. Whack the boost up a few psi and it will become a different beast all together, with 15psi it will become an awesome machine, but just be prepaired to fix things! I would say, get a general check over done on her to make sure she is good, and if she is, put the boost up a few psi and practice feeling the accel pedal. :nana2:
  11. Auto's are quicker 0-60 off of the line fact :D Autos are best for dragging and cruise, point to point or round town and twisties would be manual.
  12. oh yeh my bad , I was pissed last night tho lol :smash:
  13. yeh as monag says that should be fine, 340kgs load is plenty good enough.
  14. Sounds like a good idea :)
  15. Friend of mine had the HKS foam induction kit, used to suck up all the moisture in bad weather and killed his MAF in no time, i'm not a big fan of them. My old car had most of the weather tray / splash guard cut out (not by me) and my Blitz one was just rusting where so much water was getting on it, so I wedged a plastic tray under it to help a little, and it worked for a while but needed to be checked every now and then to make sure water wasn't finding its way on top of the tray. I think the design of where the Z's filter is, is a good one, it's just easily exposed to our poor weather.
  16. lol, but have you seen the price 40.00 for two , probably 80.00 a set for them bloody things :hurl:
  17. Thats a post and a half mate, and still doesn't really answer it lol ;), I say 270 for all stock Z's 6yrs+ old lol!
  18. lol but it was cheap and worked, not like them all flashing AVCR's that did the same for three times as much, but look like an mp3 player, waste of good money imho ;)
  19. Z centre is best, but you could always try these babies: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PINK-SEAT-COVERS-TOP-QUALITY-MATERIAL-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ7992759789QQcategoryZ72230QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  20. They have precats if thats what you mean? and UK cars have em. You can just rip it out and gut em with a wire coathanger lol. And Greg, why dont you get back in a z lol! you know my views ;)
  21. Just look on ebay and be patient, one will turn up ;) recently got an apexi profec B boost controller for like 90.00, they are all the same pretty much, just connects to leccys and a vac from wastegate into the actuator / solonoid, then it adjusts to bleed the vac to the wastegate depending on the settings you put in :) You could always mail one of the traders to see who can do the beast deal ;)
  22. 230-240kgs aprx
  23. I think your car would suffer from fooked rims no steering at all lol :nana2:
  24. If you got the Z in a wind tunnel and measured the downforce, it would be hardly fook all diff between no spoiler and having one, the air just swoops off of the TT design lip spoiler at a slightly diff angle, it has hardly any more mass, it doesnt really interfeer enough with the airflow from the roof to warrant huge downforce.
  25. Dual pop isn't needed unless our running serious boost and hp, if you run a dual pop you will need either one MAF and another dummy with the ECU programmed to compensate for half of the signal or dual maf which still needs mapped ECU. Either way you wont need it unless your going for over 400hp and uprating shit loads else.
