Yup, would agree. One thing I did love was that age of turbo cars. When Ford made the s1 RS Turbo and the early cosworth, every one else was trying to get on the bandwagon of making turbo mid-sized and family sized cars. Renault went a bit crazy and did the whole 5,7,11,15 and 21 series in turbos, which was entertaining (having owned 2 R21 turbos at this time lol, was still fun) and who can forget the amazing Renault GTA A610! (dribble) the successor to the A310, then you had the GT-TI's, the fiats, including the chav fav UNO!, Peugot (although most of these never made it to england :(), the more upmarket ones that were doing there own things such as Audi turbos in more form (the amazing first generation quattros :)), saab turbos, the list goes on. Everything was having turbos strapped to it!!!! Although there was a lot of crap cars mixed in there, they all were fun in one way or another and in the form of providing people with that little whistle that is linked directly with the nerves that just make people smile :)

By then time the 350 gets there the 300 is already spanking those ponies hard :D

I think sporty cars and super saloons peaked late eighties to mid ninties. Some of the best cars were made at this time. The RS500 (one of my personal favs :)), the saphire cosworth, the RX7, the 300zx, s13 200sx, the s14 in this time too!, the Lotus Carlton, the original (E30) M3, and the E36, the M5, the You look at the tosh they make today, (with exception to BMW, and i'm not saying that as I own one, just seems TBH they have made consistently powerful cars, and even nissan to some extent but only because of the Skyline) even the Focus RS (whilst being kind of fond of it) is a FWD torque steer monster with still no more performance and fun than the old saphire cosworth! or RS500 for that matter! (the latter the better of the two :D). Compare the RX7 to the RX8, Compare the 300zx to the 350z, the list goes on. Cars seemed to peek, then they trailed off. I think they started getting hung up on designing more modern looking and unique style cars. If you look at it all the real modern and off the wall styled cars came in after 95, I think performance took a back seat. Then came the refinement and comfort and quietness of the cars, I think a lot of companies lost their roots to producing good performance cars along this transition. But it seems now they have their designs sorted, they are now trying to concentrate more on performance. One thing I truly hate, is somehow, at this stage where car power seemed to take a back seat, to have a car 180hp or over is marked as an achievement??? Most cars like the newer Rovers, vectras especially and toyotas etc, all have badges on the side like 180, 190 etc etc. very bizarre. Wouldn’t really want to advertise that! Anyway, lets hope that emissions, comfort and quietness takes a back seat on certain models in production cars in the future!! Steve

Yup, sorry about that, was a tad strong, had a few too many shandies last night and somehow perceived that as you having a big dig at me? Think it was the emphasis on the Visotors parking, the whole inverted comas thing, as if pointing out the obvious, then emphasised it and therefore implying i'm thick. Grant, I didn’t say all mate just the majority. May be something in the water around here, but people in Swindon who drive 350z’s seem to drive them everywhere flat out trying to prove a point? of what I am unsure. Also when I was driving around in the Z I flashed / gave a wave to at least five of them in a short time, not one returned the gesture and looked at me like a piece of shit instead. I did come across another few, and all they were interested in was racing me. Perhaps I should be flattered they were trying to race me, perhaps they were trying to redeem the 350z name in hope of beating a TTz, but 16psi, no chance mate no chance (cue petes grily laugh, lmao ;)) Anyway’s perhaps I was a little harsh, just my experience from the ppl I have seen around here that own them. Only ever got the chance to speak to one guy who owned one at a local car wash, he seemed like a total w4nker too, just on about how he would annihilate my TT and it was the fastest car in Swindon :S. I look forward to meeting decent 350z drivers, until I do I think I will just change the old nod/wave to the bird. Kia99, been a little stressed recently aye ;) Dav mate, BMW drivers are still W4nkers lol, not all of em tho ;). I have had three types of experience since driving the bimmer. The first is other BMW’s are nice to you, they actually let you out and give the M some respect too :) very good indeed. The second is you get the typical rep, no clue about cars and no indicators, drives a 330ci up me arse soo far he is actually sat in my back seats, when the road clears, you cane him off. Then three miles down the road when you are chilling out at a respectable speed he has just about got up to 150 come bombing up and demands to pass you again, not learning from the first experience, the third is, normal cars, really don’t like BMW’s and if I indicate to change lanes in traffic etc as I normally would, they just don’t let me in as if to say ‘oh look there is another typical BMW driver’ when if I was in an escort or something they would just let it go and not think twice.
