  1. What plugs did you fit Dave?
  2. Had to google 5056 as I’d not heard of it before! It seems to be an equivalent of 6061-T6 which is the same material used in the skin of helicopter rotor blades. If you ever crash this car, that fuel tank lid will chop you in half! [emoji1]
  3. Those sidelight connectors are quite poor after all these years. Same story with the rear number plate bulbs; the sprung u shape terminals in the socket become brittle and break when pushing in the wedge/T10 bulb. I bought a pair of new T10 connectors with pig-tails from eBay for a couple of quid for my front sidelights as one suffered the same fate. Good to see you’re getting close though matey, nearly there!
  4. High frequency eddy current non-destructive test, it’ll show any latent defects in the weld that might later cause a failure. I’ll do it for you for $1800 cash.
  5. Had a bit of a result this evening thanks to Monsieur Funky Simone after he sent me a screenshot of a FedEx tracking page showing his bits were at the Airport I work at. I didn’t realise that Simon had made an order but it reminded me to check that status of one of mine which also showed as arriving at Stansted. We both ordered on the same day, they end up on the same Jet and we paid for shipping twice, doh! Anyway having realised my package was at Stansted awaiting customs clearance I picked up my phone and punched in the correct sequence of numbers to enable my package to be hurried along through customs, taken by hand past the warehouse for picking and into the employee entrance security checkpoint where a kind chap brought my parcel or to me, I signed for it and off I went! I don’t work for FedEx but this was a great result because it was showing as being delivered on Friday when I’m back at work for a few days. Now I have them here, it’ll give me something to post in this thread tomorrow as I have the day off! New upper control arms to cure (hopefully) my vibration when braking at high speed. I made sure Simon’s parcel was triple checked and held in quarantine for a minimum of 4 weeks before release.
  6. We need to do a HFEC NDT inspection of that weld Nick, if that fails, you’re up turd creek!
  7. One thing for sure is that it has a version wtf gearknob!
  8. Also worth noting that although the inlet and outlet size of the GFB recircs are the same as OEM, the position of the ports is different so you will need to use some silicon hoses to adapt them.
  9. Yes, I saw that in person at Japfest last year, it’s a lovely looking car and very clean.
  10. That’s just the GHK kit Jeff, if the seals are perished and leaking from the body in a smoke test, they won’t help. The aftermarket replacement GFB recircs that Andrew mentioned are also available from UK suppliers. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132211189315
  11. Pics! I’m still tempted to put one on my TwinZ spoiler.
  12. Pics of the car in the gorge or it didn’t happen! Rules are rules.
  13. I think a lot of the information on spark plugs was clouded over by the extreme tuning lead by Noel. On paper everything he says made sense but in the real world, it would be nice to have some more conservative data from folk experienced with tuning these cars. For example, at what point do we need to migrate away from the stock PFR plugs as, seemingly the advice is always to use these if your setup allows as they will make the car run smoother. I would rather my idle was smoother and I have plugs recommended by the US tuner Greg Dupree. These are NGK iridium BKR7EIX but if there is an alternate out there that smooths out the idle I’d be all over it assuming it doesn’t compromise performance at WOT. Simon’s thread is covertly changing to a “what spark plugs” thread and I like it, I don’t believe we’ve had this discussion for a while.
  14. Thanks for sharing Nick, looks like Richard has had a tough few years, hats off to him for his determination and keep “driving” forward.
  15. Simon you’re getting your metric and imperial mixed up. The 0.36 figure you have in mind is probably the stock TT gap of 0.036”.
  16. I’ll have 2 of whatever these guys are drinking!
  17. I’ve always wanted to try them on to see if they fit but the motivation came from a vibration under braking from high speed issue. I wanted to eliminate the unlikely cause of the front wheels. My rears have had new tyres within the last couple of hundred miles so I thought I’d slap them on to see if the symptoms change or stop. I would like to find a pair of the “face 2” wheels for the front but the front end didn’t feel very nice with 9.5” compared to the 8.5” so I’ll likely just stick with what I have. That and the fact I can’t find any! They do look good though [emoji41]
  18. Oh no! Now I’m paranoid, what’s wrong with the headlight glass? [emoji736][emoji106]
  19. Gary, so sorry to let you and everyone else down on this one but something has come up and I’ve had to jiggle some commitments. Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to make this event now but I hope you all have a great day and the celebration of the memory of Shea is a success.
  20. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with this picture? (Excluding Simon and Nick)
  21. Any chance you could plan the route you had in mind onto google maps for us, Tony?
  22. You’re missing out! [emoji6]
  23. Happy Birthday Ash [emoji41]
  24. Lovely looking Z Tom, great purchase. What are your plans for the car?
  25. I should get something really. I was going to build a carport down the side of the house but then the plan changed for an extension so I didn’t bother, I may revert to plan A!
