Just beware of any coilovers that have silly high spring rates, most of the systems were designed for people that want a track performance setup with unforgiving spring rates and virtually no travel. As soon as you install something like that, it's game over, no amount of retaining rubber bushes will help, in fact it will just accelerate the wear rate on them. I would highly recommend MeisterR as the components are of superb quality, the price is about the best there is (10% discount code for club members) and the technical help is spot on.
  4. I agree with Tom, I was also sceptical about sacrificing nvh when upgrading to coilovers but they are actually equally if not more comfortable than my last setup! Mine started out on stock suspension which was pretty tired so I replaced with kyb/Eibach, this is definately a good conbo but the ride height wasn't quite to my tastes leaving the front quite high. I then changed the springs to AVO chassis dynamics springs (which are weighted exactly the same as Simons tein S tech) paired with Stillen ARBs. I found this an awesome combo, it firmed up the ride perfectly without sacrificing comfort and was what I class "streetable". However, once I put my 19's on the ride height needed to be altered again so I opted for coilover. After much deliberation and several conversations with the helpful chaps at MeisterR I invested in a set of Zeta S (which are the bushed version), but I specifically chose the spring rates designed for the SWB (for my LWB). Whilst this will never give me a competition performance setup, it does give me a ride height I'm happy with and a comfort factor which is quite remarkable. Easily as soft as the last setup, if not softer. With the dampers set to max soft it is like a wobbly blancmange (almost too soft), but when I crank them up towards the harder scale, they become a setup that then far exceeds the standard shock/spring setup I had previously. The ultimate compromise if you're not looking for competition performance. I need to stiffen up my ARB to counter the roll so I can keep the dampers as soft as possible for street use. It's also worth noting that there are options for adjustable arms without using solid bearings. Have a look on Z1's site at the SPC adjustable arms which retain a rubber bushing; pair those up with the Z1 FUCA street version and as a whole package, nvh is kept minimum. You're not far from me so feel free to try before you buy, maybe another pub meet is needed (I'll remove all the bottles of tomato sauce :p ).

  7. You can generally tell a dodgy capacitor as they tend to "fizz". A quick google showed a few images but here's a random one:
  8. If you're sure it's a capacitor and there are no obvious leaking ones; replace them all lol! It'll probably still only cost a few quid compared to a new board which is likely to be a few hundred!
  9. It's your car and your money, but I like them as they are. Wheel colour changes are fairly straight forward to a decent photoshopper! Start a new thread in the photoshop section with a few decent high res pics and good angles for a kind soul to play with and assist with your decision.

  13. I'm with Stephen, I can't see insulating heat into the turbos being healthy for their lifespan or efficiency. I can see the benefit of wrapping the manifolds, although it would be interesting to compare various parameters with and without the turbos fully wrapped. I wonder if anyone (on any car) has ever used an enclosed, shrouded duct that forces ram air to and from a turbo for additional cooling?

It's worth noting the statement in bold for the ES rear control arm bushing set on the CZP website: https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=606 "These bushings replace entire rear control arms bushings, thus will greatly impact ride quality. For daily driver, we recommend the Nismo Rear control arm bushings set. Nismo have more Cushion and flex then the Polyurethane. This only applies to the rear setup, Front polyurethane bushings do not have the same effect." Unfortunately the Nismo rear control arm kit is no longer available.
  15. I managed to get it out of the garage for a few hours today until it randomly started pissing down :( I managed to get the front undertray and all the arch liners refitted, along with some of the interior.
  16. The Nissan hamburger logo was standard on UK spec cars (along with EU and U.S. models), the Z badge you have is factory fit on Japanese imports. The quad exit exhaust was a factory standard for all models, what seats do you have?

  22. Ah yes of course the width too, there is more bumper on the SWB in that area as the exhausts are closer together on a SWB. TwinzDesign have developed a rather nice set of these which look v nice imo:
