na gear + diff oil - need a name
2.8L or 3.1L for European models it says in the service manual. That's for a TT so the NA might be slightly more or less as it's a different box I think?

iron maiden
I used to be a big fan and have all their early stuff. Just sold a mint limited edition First 10 Years CD single box set on eBay for £130 as I don't really listen to them anymore. Powerslave is definately one of the best albums IMO.

Sounds like you've been lucky there but whenever I've tried to contest things with good reason i've ended up paying out twice as much!

Roll eyes /emotion
It used to star out any swearing when I was on here about a year ago and I thought that's what had happened with yours until I typed it myself and it didn't get censored :x:

Roll eyes /emotion
What's happened to the swear filter since I was last on here? Does that mean I can say twat as much as I like now? LOL twat twat twat twat twat

Guess the problem, noise on video
I think the engine really has to come out? I've heard you can do it by removing the subframe then sump, crank etc but not sure if it just makes the job harder to do?

Not really, I've been a sarcastic twat all my life

Urgent-ish advice on the Auto-manual conversion, wire in the arch
That pic is a bit crap. I had a nice diagram someone did somewhere but I can't find it. I seem to remember the wires to be joined were on the same connector? It looks a bit like black/white and black/yellow are the bottom connector in that pic but like you say none seem to be joined? All it's doing is bypassing the neutral switch that used to be there so if both wires are on the same connector then just solder a loop of wire between them on the back of the plug or if you have the old connector they used to go to spare you could cut it off and plug it on the end of your new harness and join those wires on the offcut... if that makes sense.

I can't remember which pins it is but I remember having to join 2 together. I think I soldered a wire between the two. Was years ago I did mine though

I think you'll find that to contest it you have to go to court. No more fixed penalty - you'll get at least double the fine plus costs of about £60 including that new "victims of crime" compulsory payment that they add on so you pay for other people's crimes that they couldn't get from the person who actually commited the offence. Then you'll get 3 to 6 penalty points depending on how they feel instead of the fixed 3 points. They WILL have a photo so you're pretty much stuffed! Would be nice to be a rebel though! :D

Plans to cut traffic speed limits
I'm sure the reason they are thinking of bringing in the 20 limit at the same time as a 50 limit is so everyone thinks what a great idea it is for child safety and the 50 limit gets completely forgotten about until we can all be fined. If anyone protests the politicians will just turn it into a an argument about irresponsible drivers not caring about the little children. The whole car tax and insurance scheme in this country is a complete con designed to catch people out and make money on fines. Why should you have to insure multiple cars on separate policies when in the rest of the world you just insure the driver? If you want to lay up your car for a few months you then can't move the thing if it needs repairing without taking out a full policy again as nobody will insure a car for less than a week at a time without stupid rates. I got quoted £50 a day to insure my Clio while it's up for sale in case someone wants to test drive it! No wonder people get caught out for driving uninsured - I had 2 policies I was paying for that covered me for driving other cars but got pulled for driving my Z to a garage without insurance because it's own policy had expired by 2 days. If the driver was insured that kind of thing would never happen but this government brainwashes people into thinking it's acceptable. I remember a forum member from Europe coming over here to collect his new Z from a UK importer and finding his policy which applies in mainland Europe didn't cover him here and he would have to take out a full annual UK policy to drive it home by ferry. What a joke! Car tax has to be paid on my 3 cars when I can only use one at a time. Fuel is taxed so much that you can't afford to run a luxury car and if you want to save fuel by buying a small city car for big mileages at work you can't fit your family in it and have to tax that too, costing you more money. You can't go fit big items in a tiny city car so you have to pay to get stuff delivered on a truck which is even worse for the environment. Car tax can't be paid by direct debit or in installments like any other business would offer and you can't renew it early when you might have the cash available you have to do it at the end of the month when you've probably spent up. If they made it easy they would lose out millions on fines! Rant, Rant, Rant! LOL

Just got my new lights
It's all running fine now just needs MOT. Been driving a Discovery V8 on LPG recently as my daily runabout so it's a bit of a change LOL Still goes like $hit off a very fast stick! The R34 brakes are now spongey as hell so needs new pads and the system bleeding i think. I destroyed them at the Nurburgring a couple of years ago and then it's been off the road not longer after that so no surprise really. All the shiney bits under the bonnet are a mess and need a few hours of elbow grease. Passenger electric window has stopped working which is typical as one of the last jobs i did on it before it went off the road is replace the drivers side window motor and it was a right pain in the a$$! Bodywork is a bit of a mess as the Border bonnet I fitted and sprayed myself temporarily needs doing properly and there's a scrape the full length of a side skirt needs sorting. Basically needs a full respray as there's some damage or rust appeared on almost every panel from sitting on my drive in the damp without ever getting a run out. Might need a door as I spotted loads of rust under the bottom edge last time i was under it. Never ends does it! LOL

Plans to cut traffic speed limits
Reminds me of something my dad said when we were both driving 200 miles up to Edinburgh from Leeds to my brothers place for xmas. We both set off at the same time and he said "Drive steady you won't get there any quicker"... Me in Z: 2hrs 10 mins  Parents in Rover 400: 5hrs  I'd been sat watching TV for 2 hours by the time he got there  Have to agree with 20 limits in some residential and school areas but the 60 down to 50 sounds like a great money earner for the speed cameras. They've got to get all that tax back somehow and you can bet it will be motorists paying up the £3000 each that we've all paid out to rescue the banks

Just got my new lights
He is indeed! Took the Z for it's first drive in about 18 months tonight :D :nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2: Needs loads of work to tidy it up now and the brakes are terrible after all that time but nothing I can't sort out over a few evenings. Need to pay my subs now!
-
insurance question
Yeah I wouldn't go chasing this too much and saying the handbrake is still faulty or you might find they want their money back! Insurance isn't there to maintain cars or everyone would be crashing into walls to get their brakes fixed for free every time they needed a set of pads LOL
-
Just got my new lights
I prefer the standard look, especially on a silver car which is why i've always left mine alone :)

uh oh.. wheels stick out the arches, what to do?
19mm is just to the wheel edge I think? Your tyres might hang over the edge by another 5 to 10mm each side :D

repair needed help!!!!!
Yeah I wouldn't be thinking of anything like that until you've seen the size of the bill for repairing or replacing a pair of aftermarket turbo's. The engine will most likely have to come out for a start which aint cheap before you even fix them. Sounds like the dealer is trying to wriggle out of paying anything and quite often they say they will help until you've had the work done elsewhere and then refuse to pay anything towards it in my experience. Anyway why would you want to spoil a nice car like that with a pair of chavvy doors? LOL
