  1. I think I priced up the options and it was only 10 or 15 quid more for a Nissan one than some unbranded item from my local spares place. If it fails your engine could be f****d! Thermostat isn't much either. Would be a nightmare to have the old one fail a few months after you've done the job and have to strip it all down again.
  2. From your other posts I take it your engine is out for some reason. Definately replace it if it wasn't done recently. Same for the thermostat which is behind it.
  3. It's at the rear of the engine :D crank seal Only costs a couple of quid I think from memory. Probably worth doing if the engine is out. Same for the front one.
  4. Bummer! LOL There's a couple of small pipes that link the fuel rail you should replace while you're under there. Do a search for plenum water bypass or similar. You can basically strip out all the small water hoses under there and route them round the engine to bypass the plenum. They are there to warm the plenum in arctic conditions. It's not necessary in the UK and once removed there's no more leaks in future. There's a diagram somewhere.
  5. Sorry for being nosie but you posted it so I thought you wanted me to read it :nelson: :D
  6. It's possible but you have to grind some bits of the plenum down to give clearance from what i remember. Might be easier to just take it out and you can replace all the pipes under there while you're at it. Also do a water bypass at the same time if you haven't already
  7. Are you changing it for the 60K service? I'd use a genuine Nissan item, they aren't that expensive and is it really worth risking your engine to save a few quid?
  8. I'm pretty sure driving with no bonnet is illegal! Especially when you will dazzle every f****r on the road! LOL
  9. Nice car but I'd prefer it in gloss black I think. Bit different though. Bet its a real pain to keep clean - normal blacks are bad enough.
  10. Well there you go then LOL The chip could be designed for anything if you don't know the spec of it and why bother if you're not running more boost? LOL Are the FPR and damper definately good/new?
  11. Aircon compressor will just spin freely unless it's switched on by the dash button. A solenoid engages it and I presume it will lock up and be harder to turn. Aircon radiator is in front of the water radiator and behind the air filter with a big electric fan on it.
  12. It won't be the chip if it's only just started doing it. It's unlikely you'd be running standard boost though if it's been chipped? Unless you removed boost jets or a boost controller? Could be some bad fuel, ignition problems - PTU is a common failure when the weather starts to warm up. Fuel pressure regulator or damper?
  13. That's a gorgeous SWB model in black. Nice rear end with a pair of big cans. Even the shoes are nice :D
  14. Yeah could have been stripped out and the compressor left in as it's a real pain to get out unless you know what you are doing. Also check if there's any gas in it first by looking in the little glass window on the pipework (if the pipework is still there!)
  15. Thought it sounded like the brackets might be visible. Depends how fussy you are! Can certainly say that the Foliatec stuff is the dogs danglies though if you want to do your calipers. I did wonder about the ceramic disks! I'd be selling them straight away! LOL
  16. Get yourself a tin of red Foliatec Caliper Paint - Halfords sell it but it's cheaper online. Will match the Porsche calipers in colour and the deep glossy look. I've used it on my Brembo's and it gives a factory painted finish that never comes off or fades.
  17. Aircon compressor could have seized. Removed in the belief it will save power/be more economical - The Z cuts the compressor off when you floor the throttle anyway if it is switched on to give you every bit of power and then switches back on when you're done. Could just have failed and not been replaced.
  18. Would be nice but the 911 ceramic brake option is about £25K from Porsche!
  19. They are very good company for this kind of stuff. Both mine and Mac's wheel hub spacers for the wide arch kits were made by them.
  20. The 2 large red plugs each side will be the boost solenoids. Difficult to say what the spare connectors are without seeing them? Maybe take a photo of what you've got and try to guess where they are likely to reach to on the engine when you run it round the bay. Might be easier if you can say what you have already connected up? Chris.
  21. You do ask some STUPID questions! :slap:
  22. I've been using IZArc recently: http://www.izarc.org/ It does: 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CAB, CDI, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MDF, MBF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, ZOOZip and others with no license even for business use and works on XP and Vista.
  23. Can also be the tension rod bushes are worn out. As it happens I've got a set of rods with bushes fitted in the Items For Sale section :D
  24. PMSL! No cats but fart related: I was working in a big spare office at a company setting up PC's and not one member of staff had walked in all day. Was sat at a desk and felt the need to let out an almightly guff, safe in the knowledge nobody would notice. The instant I'd let rip the door opens and a guy walks in and says "I'm from BT can I just get under your desk to get to the phone socket" Not only was the timing incredibly bad I'd picked the only desk with a phone socket LOL I quickly left the room as the poor bloke dived head first into the eggy cloud!
