  1. I wouldn´t have thought it was the alternator to be honest with you because that wouldn´t explain the sudden loss of all power and then it magically reappearing again. I once had a similar problem and it turned out to be a faulty earth cable i.e I was losing the negative connection from the battery although the clamp was on tight. I´d agree with willie and nzniggles check the battery if all the cells are okay and then the main connections to the battery plus and negative.
  2. Not mine, just stumbled across it on Ebay...maybe of interest to someone: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-300ZX-Complete-Leather-Interior-for-SWB_W0QQitemZ390123265055QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item5ad5289c1f :)
  3. you should get a good 12 to 13 volts from the terminals on a fully charged battery. you should get around 14 to 14.5 volts when the engine is running and the alterntor is charging. If the battery isn´t holding the charge then some cells are probably dead.
  4. does she start up normal...i.e starting and driving as normal just wants to cut off when the revs drop to idle or is starting her up a bit problematic too ?
  5. That´s the first spoiler I´ve seen that made me laugh ! he cannot be serious ..that´s a wind up, surely !
  6. personally..i think the "Robs" de badged rear centre method would have looked "nicer" http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/64004.html :)
  7. VTC? do you mean VCT: Variable Cam Timing ?
  8. IT STARTED !!!! I bypassed the fuel pump control module and the pump started pumping fuel again. Hooked everything back up, left the module bypassed and the car even started up :) Guess that means I need a new FPCM. Jeff..have you got a FPCM for a TT ? :)
  9. Quick thread highjack question: Do all of the cone type sport filters result in the recircs doing the Goosehonk ? :)
  10. Jeff You´re a scholar and a gentleman. :)
  11. oh..and also it´s a series 2 PTU
  12. Okay ..still not getting any fuel pumped to the engine and the pump doesn´t prime when you switch the ignition on. I´ve checked the following. 1: Resistance on fuel pump is exactly 0.5 ohm as specified, the pump is only about 2 years old, brand new OEM pump and I took it out and tested it. FUEL PUMP - OK 2: Fuel pump relay works and on ignition gives 12 volts to the pump for 1 second as specified in the workshop manual FUEL PUMP RELAY - OK 3: I checked all the wiring between relay, Pump and ECU and everything is ok ECU diagnostic threw up a code 55 - No errors 4: I rechecked all the fuses and relevant connectors, everything appears to be ok Does anyone know how to check the Fuel pump control module to see if it´s operating okay ? Any idea which component in the car could also disable the fuel pump or effect it´s operation in any way ? Just for info: car was working fine before, parked up in the garage friday afternoon..went to start her up monday morning and that´s when the problem started. As alway, any pointers greatly appreciated. Maz
  13. if the problem is that you don´t have any power getting to the door and you´ve checked all the "regular" fuses then...if I,m reading this right, the Nissan workshop manual section EL page 1036 appears to indicate 2 fuses in the connectors themselves ..in connector E105 and E106 it says it´s "fused" ?? or does that mean the connector runs directly to the fuse box....worth taking a look though if you´ve got it all dismantled.
  14. "checked all the fuses under the bonnet" ...did you check the fuses in the footwell ?
  15. is this the company ? Safe & Sound 113, Manchester Rd Droylsden Manchester Lancashire M43 6EG Tel: 0161 370 4751 Fax: 0161 371 8283 Email: info@safeandsounduk.com
  16. Jeff I´m speechless mate...speechless with a big smile on my face, I can´t thank you enough..and if you do need to send more parts, no worries I´ll see you for any costs involved. I really appreciate the help mate :)
  17. hiya Smithy Unfortunately I don´t have another ECU handy....and I don´t know anyone local that drives a 300zx either :( I guess you´re refering to the fuel pump relay and bridging the connector to get power to the fuel pump. weekend is coming up so I´ll go to town on the car with a multimeter, check all wires and connections , do an ECU diagnostic and basically work on it until I can locate the problem or at least rule some things out. Thanks for the tip though, always greatly apreciated. Maz
  18. Fuel pump relay arrived this morning ( Jeff you´re an absolute star mate ) unfortunately still not pumping fuel :( the relay clicks. On one of the two closest connectors there is 12v, and on the two furthest apart connectors you get 12v out of one of them when you turn the ignition key, but only for a second or so but after than, nothing :( What I do keep hearing, and I´m not sure if it related or if it´s normal but the black box on the Anti skid actuator ( 47600-30P01) clicks "oddly" when you turn the ignition key. never heard it do that before. I don´t hear the fuel pump prime at all. fuel pump control unit ?? Maz
  19. nah, that´s right..for a LH drive the handbrake is there where it is on lahsx´s "pic flipped" pic :)
  20. Jeff You´re absoloutly right...I should have subscribed a while ago as you guys are brilliant and without this site I´d be lost half the time with the Z. So, that said, I,ve just subscribed. I´ll email you my details as soon as I have access to your email or the message facillity. Really appreciate it mate :)
  21. Jeff That´s damn decent of you, I really appreciate the offer, but are you sure? ..I mean I´m just a registered user and live outside of the UK ..in Germany. Could give you a BFPO Address though if you´re still okay with it. Mario
  22. Jeff, if I understood you right, you are spot on mate. i have power coming from one of the two closest together contacts, when I then link the two closest contacts with a cable I then get power at the fuel pump connector :o) So I need a new fuel pump relay I take it ? Jeff, you´re a star. Maz
  23. murt No, I can´t hear the fuel pump priming....... and I´m getting no power coming through to the electrical connectors at the fuel pump.
  24. Hi everyone The next "non starter" The car drove fine up until this morning ( daily drive ) when it wouldn´t start :o( I,ve esablished that there is no fuel being pumped to the engine and that I cannot hear the fuel pump engage when turning the ignition, so I have checked the following: 1: All fuses 2: all connectors relating to the fuel pump 3: The fuel pump relay ( it clicks..twice? ) 4: The fuel pump, i took it out and hooked it up to a battery and it works. 5: the fuel filter 6: After doing an electrical test I found that there is power going into the fuel pump relay but no power is being transmitted to the pump when the ignition is turned on. The relay does click twice when the ignition is turned on could it be the relay, and is there anyway of testing it. ? any pointers greatly appreciated. Maz
  25. think i read somewhere that the 350z 2003 - 2004 model injectors fit in a 93 300zx (oval electrical connectors ) if that´s of any use to you. :)
