  1. Sometimes after a quick blip of the throttle during driving the rpm can drop off almost to nothing and even stall. Could this be a dirty AAC ( aux air control) on the IAA ( Idle air adjusting unit) any help appreciated.
  2. If it is a standard AFR gauge then they are almost useless for everything other than decoration. On full throttle they should show rich as on closed loop they cant read the signal correctly. During normal driving it should pop up and down quickly as the lambda signal operates to adjust the fueling. For real monitoring of the AFR you need a wide band lambda set up.
  3. OK I got my Z on Sat and I am now sure it was one of the best decisions car wise I have ever made. It seems the usual Z problems are showing themselves : Oil pressure sender ( sometimes it reads correctly and others it shows low, depends on wether it wants to work or not)and squeaky fan in the roof along with squeaky bonnet. I put some sound proofing in the rear boot to remove a bit of the Rear drivetrain noise which has made a good difference. As I gain more confidence in driving it I am starting to really open it up, only had the back end step out once so far( thankfully the way the car reacts gave me plenty of time to put it right) but I am sure that count will go up. All in all the car is bloody fantastic ( touch wood ). Thanks for all the help over the past few days . Kev
  4. Thx peeps the connector was fantastic at only £13 from halfords then the rest all fell into place Thanks
  5. Hi Ok this question has been asked before but not all the info I want is in the search results. I am fitting a stereo and am lucky as the iso connector is still there but as i can understand it I have to run the stereo earth to a seperate earth to get it to work? along with the ISO connector there is a small square connector about an inch wide and long with 4 pins in it , any Ides on what it is ( I was thinking it might be the aerial control connector but it seems a bit over the top for it or maybe its right as I seem to have a aerial switch in front of the auto shifter which I havnt got a clue about either) My aerial lead has 2 pins does the aerial work ok using just the single pin or is it better to get a twin pin adapter for it. Many thanks for your help.

  9. When I went on my test drive the garage took it round the corner and put £15 quids worth of optimax in it and told me to use it all if I wanted, after half an hour I asked if I could syphon off what was left but they wernt to co-operative on that.
  10. Is it worth using a octane booster with optimax or is it a waste of money? Thx

  12. Without seeing pics of the bulkhead I may be talking crap but why not fabricate the woofer direct into the bulkhead and maybe go for a neon look to it as that would look pretty good sat direct behind ur seats.
  13. I have this impending feeling of doom with the purchase of my TT. I just know im gonna spend a fortune on optimax in the first few weeks with excuses like " oh were out of milk I will just pop out and get some" half an hour later and a pint of milk and 20 quid of petrol.
  14. Ok look at the cars. 200sx is a lot lighter than a 300zx ( engine is lighter , body is lighter etc.) 200sx has a turbo and not a bad one at that( remember that the torque is improved with the turbo) If you wanted high speed then you should of gone with the TT The N/A is like comparing a full fat coke to a diet, with the diet you get the look the feel and almost the taste but without the oomph. sorry for talking tripe but im good at it.
  15. use one of the window scrapers that has a stanley knife blade in it will make light work of it, also if you can get hold of a thing called orange oil it is very good for removing gummy glue residdue without being a solvent.
  16. Ryan have you heard of using a good quality diesel oil to flush the engine with as it has a higher detergent quality? Few friends swear by it.

  21. From what i have heard of the ptu problem it sounds close.
  22. Thx for the info mate. Really appreciated it as it just made my mind up on the one I want. http://www.torque-imports.co.uk/cardetails.php?c=8 this is it and managed to get it for £2900 with a full years MOT Heres hoping my ownership is good. I have saved £1200 for problems but it may go to a manual conv.
  23. As the title says I have almost bought one , I tried a few and found a bargain at the end but I have a few questions for ya if you dont mind. 1, when a car is imported into the Uk and has a sva test does the jap speedo which is reading 180kmh get changed so that it will display mph on it for that or is it not a mandatory thing. 2, where is the sport / touring switch for the suspension the one i tested today had a red switch next to the auto box arm with 0 and 1 markings , is that it? 3, the one today had a boost gauge showing -7 to +7 and i cant remember what the other ones i saw were, is this right 4 , how the hell do you get the grin off your face, I cant believe the way they climb to 100mph mind u the back end does try to have its way with you. Thanks Kev
