  1. Your local David, do you know of some good pubs in those areas that would be suitable.

I reckon that's a cracking choice for a meet, I have not been there since about 1960, I am definitely up for that.
  3. Why not, providing their treated right, i.e. engine oil changed regularly and no silly decatting, they should do a good mileage. I know its totally different but I had a turbo diesel citroen xantia which I took from 69K to 228K and sold it still going strong on the original turbo. The new owner (a lady) has taken it up to 286K and still going well on the original turbo.
  4. And pool our resources to get back home....
  5. There has surely got to be some good pubs between say Taunton and Exeter where we could all meet for a pie/pint and a chat.
  6. Sounds like it could be an injector gone down. With the car ticking over, get a fine long screwdriver and rest it on top of an injector of a firing cylinder with your ear to the handle. You should be able to hear it clicking. Then try the one that is not firing. If injector is not clicking it could be faulty or just a bad injector connector.
  7. My car used to smell of petrol fumes until recently. I have just had my exhaust replaced at Infinity and they said the original, an HKS Superdragger, was too short as it left a slight sooty deposit on the rear bumper. The new system protrudes out a bit further and I no longer get fumes coming in.
  8. Make sure the box is from a TT (it looks like your is a TT), you will then require, propshaft, flywheel + bolts, clutch + bolts, spigot bearing, gearlever, 2 rubber gear lever boots + mntg plate with 4 screws, 1 leather gearlever gaiter, gearknob, clutch pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder, joining pipe. Thats the basics, normal manuals have a booster fitted with some associated pipework, which is optional, but recommended especially if you intended getting a non standard clutch. Its not a bad job, me and son (Jimmer) did mine easily in a day, started 9.30 and I was driving it home at 4.30, without reversing lights connected, that takes a bit of working out.
  9. Have you got much left to do Dave ? John
  10. They are awesome and corner so well for such a large car, but sadly the old metal moth is such a problem and of course it would have to be a straight six and not the V8 version because of the Nicosil problem.
  11. I would not think you would need to replace the complete rack, usually it is either the racks track rods which come with a replacement ball joint kit which fits to the rack itself, or just the rack rubber boots. both are available from Mike Pheeney (MJP) plus probably others on here for around £150. if you are buying the replacement track rods, also request new lockwashers as they were not supplied with my kit from MJP, and after taking them off they were in a pretty sorry state. All the above is possible by a relative novice, not a nice job tho'.
  12. I do not know about a PCV re route, you are probably thinking about a 'top end bypass'. If you do a search on this forum for EGR and Top end bypass, you should come up with links to tech papers refering to them.
  13. I had something similar a while back and I solved it by taking the batteries out of the fob and then refitting them. It came back to life immediately. It was as though they were not making contact although the small light on the fob illuminated when the buttons were pushed but got no response from the car.
  14. It appears that there will be no official 300ZX club reprensentation at this event, and I have suggested perhaps a lucntime pub meet down that area, but still no reponse, so it's seems to be another Sunday polishing the Zed mate. John
  15. Cheers Bob, sadly the bleep has also been disarmed when locking or unlocking so it is a visual flashing of the indicators which tells you its locked. Although I have all the instructions etc., their is no receipt for the fitting, it could well have been fitted wrongly by some cowboy. John
  16. Some people talk about putting the 350Z box in as its a 6 speeder, but a freind who has a 350Z is on his 3rd gearbox, it's an apparent weakness.
  17. Why not contact the manufacturer with the serial number, they may issue a pin.
  18. I like the fancy tailpipes.
  19. Thanks Mario, I think I have all the paperwork for the alarm, hopefully including the pin number, so I shall put it on my to do list for this weekend. regards John
  20. But it does not do it every time. As I stated I tried it again afterwards and the door could be opened from outside. Weird.
  21. My latest Zed is fitted with a Toad alarm which I think may be a cheap 'un. What is really pissing me off with it at the moment is it occasionally locks me out of the car. It happened twice now and the second time was when I was collecting the car from Infinity Exhaust yesterday. I started it up and went round the back to listen to the new note and then could not get back in. A length of welding wire was brought into play and the window was opened. Afterwards when I got into the car and started it again with the door shut it did not lock it, what the f@@k is going on, any ideas please.
  22. Them convertables seem to only go round in circles.............
  23. Yes you can but it is a right barsteward, patience is the key. Speak to Greg, he's probably done a few of them.
