Jacks and Oil
Terry is right the jack oil needs to be non compressible and is really a hydraulic fluid. You don't need to lose much at all for the jack to not work properly. Foaming is bad as it means air and air is compressible which when you have nearly 2 tonnes of car on the end can be a real problem.

UK Manual LWB Twin Turbo
Hi Folks As some of you have worked out I snaffled the 2 Twin Turbos that were for sale in St Albans To be honest I am really only interested in the parts car which means the UK car is up for grabs. The Car is a turnkey project it does need work to bring it back to what it should be. It is MOTed until the end of May 2016. Mileage is showing 133K backed up by multiple MOTs. However in the paperwork I also have a receipt for a replacement engine with 44K on it. Unfortunately it has no engine number on the receipt so I can't say for certain if the lump has been swapped. The car runs very well the gearbox is good and power delivery is very smooth. I've only had it a few days, but I have sorted out the immobiliser issue so it starts every time. Cleared the stale fuel through so much smoother now. Fixed the tailgate rams, so you now don't have to hold it open with your head. The alternator belt was knackered and let go when I drove it round the block so I changed that over yesterday. With a few bits and pieces and fuel I am in it for about £2150. I will continue pottering on it, its got some trim rattles that are bugging me. All I am looking for is a good drink out of it and some driveway space. The car is pretty standard apart from the air filter and stainless exhaust. I will be as honest as I can over it so if you have any questions or you want me look at something specific please let me know. If I had another garage space this would definitely be the project. HPI clear, LWB manual and UK car it will be in my opinion the one to have. Also I now what you guys mean about the blue glass in the UK cars much nicer than the bronze.

Looking for my first Datsun
Hello mate are you still looking for a Datsun I seem to have accidently purchased 2 more 300zx TTs (giving me a total of 3) and the wife will go mad when she sees the driveway. I'm due to collect them on Wednesday evening. One is all good with MOT and running the other more likely a parts car. I'm more interested in the parts car to be honest so I will be looking to sell the good one. To answer your questions. 1. hahahahahaha 2. I tend to close my eyes, hang on and rely on the screams of my passenger to let me know when to apply the brakes. 3.Cost of ownership sits somewhere between a substance abuse habit and a wife (but nowhere near the cost of a horse) 4.I would see the doctor about that. 5.NASA used less for the entire Gemini launch program 6.Not yet. 7.Why did the pervert cross the road?-Because he was stuck in the chicken! 8.If only you could still get Green Shield Stamps. Cheers Martin

How do i get an auto into neutral with no battery on the car.
Hi Folks I find myself in an interesting/unusual/semi comical situation. I have somehow managed to buy another 2 300zx TTs. One is running and all is good, the other is probably a parts car. Here's my issue and feel free to laugh as the humour of the situation doesn't escape me. The parts car was put into a double garage when it was running about 8 years ago. The only issue being it was put in SIDEWAYS!!!! There is about 8 inches clearance at either end so was clearly a 900 point turn. Car is an auto, no battery on it and the ignition barrel has been removed and a bit of a birds nest of wires hanging below the steering column. I have a battery pack so I could get power to it, but is there a manual release anywhere near the gearstick so I could put it into neutral. I don't think the wires have been cut below the column but not 100% sure. Failing that I might be investing in some castors. All help greatly appreciated as always and I think I have found the perfect smiley for me. :stupid:

Another Question
Too late now she's mine lol Off to a friends garage for full service and belt change. Slight wobble at 80 so wheels to be balanced, rubber is all good except spare. the little yellow alloy has never been out, but the tyre on it looks quite sad. Brake judder when braking hard so all disks and pads to be replaced, Calipers all move freely at the moment so will probably stay to start with. Scoop is toast! Wheels to be refurbed I'm thinking silver at the moment. Rear lights to be changed for LED venoms not sure on 4 or 6 lights at the moment. Respray may not happen this year but candy apple red where it isn't faded is stunning so I'm sticking with that. Undecided about the front lights I flip flop between uuuurrggghh and hmmmmm. Interior needs finishing in leather all over, I quite like the red trim to be fair, but there won't be any more in there. Change of steering wheel. Couple of shiny bits inside. She looks a totally different car in the flesh the pictures are a poor representation. Very very aggressive to look at with the wide arches and the lowered stance. Loving the spoiler as well - sorry guys lol. Overall incredible condition for a car that age. Drives straight and true pulls hard through all the gears. I'm guessing running around 350 BHP at the flywheel by the way it drives up against my 335d M sport xdrive. Which isn't too bad considering she's been sat pretty much for the last 8 years with just the odd run out. I passed a LWB red 300zx going up the A12 towards Ipswich at about 6.30 last night as I was heading down. Red with a big wing was all I saw so if that's anyone on here hello! The car has already been christened by my ever helpful friends as FBOD (Fiery Ball Of Death) If I do change the front lights I might send the old ones over to Twin Turbo  All in all I think a good strong platform for my 600BHP target. As I am married it may take a while to get there as the wife has a horse and for those of you who don't you couldn't burn money faster than that thing uses it. Many thanks to everyone and hopeful here's to some new friends :pint:

Hi Bud still trying work posting stuff on here I really didn't mean to cause offence and I posted and apology earlier just wasn't sure if you'd seen so I'm hoping that by clicking reply on your post you'll get a notification. Apologies again from the man with both feet in his mouth

Another Question
Hi Folks Apologies to Twin Turbo I certainly didn't mean to cause offence and it was meant as a joke. I can't find a sheepish emogee otherwise I would be using it now. I have been looking for a "keeper" and it will evolve as I'm sure many of your cars have over the forthcoming years. There are parts of the car that aren't to my taste and parts that aren't, but that's the fun of owning something like that. The key for me was finding something that can ultimately be what I want. You are bang on in what you are saying Gary in that if you like it you should go for it. I'm now figuring I owe a certain Australian a beer or 3:pint:

Pictures can be deceiving.
I know I'm new here but have a look at this one http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/other-makes/all-models/nissan-300zx-turbo------------------1991/4054305?utm_source=Trovit.co.uk&utm_medium=Organic&utm_content=£0k%20-%20£15k&utm_campaign=Used%20Cars Pistonheads have uploaded the advert incorrectly so you can't find it on there I was off to see it tomorrow but I've had an offer accepted on another and I can't afford 2! The guy sounds really decent selling up to retire in Italy he has another set of fully refurbed wheels going with it as well. The car used to belong to someone on the forum as well so it will be known on here. Jeff at Zedworld has worked on it and I think pictures on the Zedworld site of a car having the sills done is this one. UK car HPI clear PS if you buy it you owe me a beer

Feel a bit happier now that you have said a DVLA monkey may have typed the info in wrong. Also spoke to owner and he said when he had problem with the DVLA just after getting it. The Reg is J632 CPU Same guy has owned it since it was imported shows as 3 owners as it was put in his mates name for a while then back to him. I like the car it has to be said it needs a little TLC but I do like it.

Another Question
V5 is there with masses of bills old MOTs etc but I didn't notice if the log book said 2+2 I'll check the VIN against the V5 when I go back as I had an offer accepted on it. Just wondered if anyone else had come across this issue before. thanks for the quick reply

Another Question
Hi Guys Just been and looked at a SWB manual TT import. Car is solid, low mileage, runs and drives well with pretty much no rust anywhere. The only problem is the HPI check comes back clean apart from saying it is a 2+2 Am I being too suspicious here or is this a cock up in registering the car when it was imported. As always any thoughts and comments are welcome. Cheers
