  1. ME!!!!!!!!!! lol Got pipped on that nice silver one on eBay the other night. Beginning to be a bit more sensible on what I am looking (which will obviously cause sadness amongst this lot as I have providing them with a giggle or 2 over the last few days ) Obviously I want a million horsepower for 50p but I would settle for a nice TT and I have about £6500 in the pot all told.
  2. Lol No Guts no glory and all that!! Same as last time guys I will simply walk away if it ain't right. But if she is solid then I might (MIGHT) think about it. The guy lives down a private lane so I can run it up and down there. Update to the plus side You're all having fun taking the Mickey
  3. I am sensing a lack of love here lol Plus points 2 owners HPI Clear Dry stored for last 6 years UK car Manual Negative points Graphics (slight damage to wheel arch so good excuse to spray the sides) Headlights (they can bugger off back to fiat as far as I'm concerned) Can't see enough of the interior to make my mind up Missing bits Not sure about the wheels to be honest You lot hate it  Other than that all is sweet
  4. Right I'm over my brief infatuation with the Red one With a new day comes a hangover and an advert! I have just spoken to the guy and now have first dibs on this one http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C605312 Spanner time!!! I figure I will have up to £4K to drop on it to make it nice. What could possibly go wrong! Any thoughts guys and of course anyone up for a road trip to Kent early next week.
  5. you are bang on. Felt a bit cheated today because it was so far removed from the car they described. But weirdly the overwhelming emotion was annoyance that they had killed that car. Oh My God I'm in love with the Zeds! That's it I'm in the same boat as you guys I have to get one now lol! Seriously thank you all again for kind words and guidance. Right more beer (medicinal to overcome my depression obviously) now.
  6. If anyone is curious about the runway thing I mentioned in the previous comment he's the link to the Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Terminal-Velocity/1028724560474872?fref=ts Should be a really good craic if anyone fancies the opportunity to wind their cars right up and it would be nice to see some Zeds there. Right now I am going for a beer!
  7. Hi Andrew I did see it and you are right it looks lovely, but big time dealer price. I might just stick an offer and leave it on the table and see what happens You never know and all that. Cheers buddy I love this forum everyone is brilliantly helpful.
  8. It is properly funny I have to say. In all the cars in all the years I have bought I don't think I have ever seen a car so far away from the way it was described. There was a huge space in the car park next to it and I should have realised it was for my banana boat that I had clearly just arrived on. I had to have a look though and that is pretty much all it took - a look! Thank you guys for everything I have a feeling this thread may well turn into a saga Watch this space! :pint::pint: Is what I am doing tonight
  9. On a different note to let you know the kind of friends I have to put up with Mat wore flipflops to test drive what we believed at the time was a 600+ HP car!
  10. Quick update for those who are interested. I am laughing because it was so bad. Not sure what order to put these in. No receipts offered to prove £15K spend 2 Dyno print outs shown - the last one from 2012 showing 412.5 BHP at the flywheel - Telephone number on the printout no longer in service. Both rear sills rusty under the skirts All 4 wheels really badly kerbed- some time ago as the water has got under the laquer Fourth gear snatching and crunching Several warning lights on Dials on the dash not working but aftermarket dials working Poor repair to rear bumper Several damaged areas on the body kit Massive number of stone chips on the front of the car Misfire at 6000rpm Overfuelling badly I don't think I have ever seen so much soot at the back end lol. Last keeper change in January this year - so I reckon this car has been ragged since then and now it's starting to break they want to sell it. Keeper change before was July 2014 so the previous guy didn't have it very long before yet apparently did all the mods The guy selling it proudly pointed out the large amount of rubber on the road and said that was him. Ridden hard and put away wet springs to mind Bullet dodged! if anyone else goes to look check the areas I have mentioned at the very least please My gut feeling it is 350 to 400hp and worth about £2k Right Back to eBay
  11. Not sure to be honest Loose plan is get there. Plough through receipts (check if enough has been done to make it a 600hp beast) Crawl over car Check car matches paperwork Test drive See if it blows me away Simples!!! #insert phone call to 07930 896964 if alarm bells ring In all seriousness I'm not going in blinkered, if the car wows me then I am up for a punt on it if not then not. Mat's brother (Mat being the friend who is coming) owns a performance car garage has some experience with the 300zx so he is on the end of the phone. I wouldn't say I'm an expert by any stretch but I have loved these cars for a long time so I know a little (famous last words) Are there any "performance" parts that aren't really that would really ring alarm bells if you saw them? I mean like Ditchfinder Tyres, Kamikaze Cams or Afterlife Turbos (other brands are available) Once again thank you for kind comments and help. My thoughts are this car has to be worth a good look, it could very well be something a bit special.
  12. Off first thing tomorrow morning with my slightly mad friend. His qualifications for the job include in my eyes. 1 He has an AMG C63 Mercedes running 525BHP 2 He has just returned from the ring where it took his friend in his GTR 2 days to post a faster lap time than he did in his Megane Trophy R 3 He has booked Woodbridge Airfield at the end of May (2.2 miles of world class runway) See if you can guess why I want the Nissan! The downside is of course when I buy it (think positive) he then either has to drive the Zed home or my Beemer. I'll keep you posted and thanks to everyone for the help and encouragement. I'm hoping the next thing I post is. Holy :censored: its fast
  13. Hi Richard Getting closer to owning my midlife crisis I think
  14. Thank you Noz I really appreciate it. You are so close it makes me wonder if you have had any dealings with the car previously K112 UCU I think my local pub might be selling urine at those prices!
  15. Hi Mondo if its good and if I get it I think I might requesting your services on that interior
  16. Well I've made an offer subject to it being what it seems! So fingers crossed and thanks to everyone for their helpful comments. Noz if I get it I will be calling you in the morning hoping for a coffee and a smile in the afternoon. I mean what could possibly go wrong? Apart from the expensive kick in the wallet or the travelling through the pearly gates backwards on fire at 200mph!
  17. Many thanks to everyone who has posted. Really helpful and decent comments. If there is anybody near Leicester who fancies earning a pub lunch in exchange for helping me check it out please let me know.
  18. and I quote and air filter like a dustbin lid
  19. Update on the turbo situation on the Red one. It has Garrett T28 turbos
  20. Hi Bird I'm in East Anglia near Bury St Edmunds. They said it had a misfire that has now been sorted, but no mention of compression problems. I guess as always the key is reading the receipts and driving it. I was hoping when it popped up that someone like Zedworld had been involved in it at some stage. I have about £6k to spend and they have come down to that, but that seems to be top money for a 300zx with a clean history. Just not sure which way to jump really, buy something that's been done but has a history or something clean and start with the spanners. As you said it could have been Cat D'ed for very little. It was in 98 so I guess as standard it would have been worth maybe 10 grand then. It doesn't take a lot to rack up a £4000 bill when you include labour so on that (back of a fag packet logic) it may not have had much wrong with it. It was the last guy who had it who did all the mods. Who knows I talk myself in and out of it on an hourly basis lol.
  21. I have a feeling the red one might involve a whitening of the knuckles! I am leaning more towards grey but I clearly live at the wrong end of the country lol What could possibly go wrong?
  22. This was the other one I liked the look of http://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/%c2%a32950-ono-nissan-300zx-twin-turbo-targa-top-one-off-show-car-kit-car-56-000-miles-10-month-mot/1108795723 HPI clear and that would leave some in the pot for toys. Difficult to tell if anything other than cosmetics have been done under the bonnet from the picture though. I WILL OWN A ZED!! (one day soon)
  23. Apparently the £15 worth of receipts is for upgrades so it is possible I reckon, but you are right a massive pouring over of receipts is required. Apparently the car made 550 at the rear wheels as it sits the guy I spoke to said he couldn't remember the flywheel figure but said it was either 625 or 675. working the figures forward it has to be 625 or there is something properly amiss. I'm with you there is no way that it would make that on stock injectors. I believe the rule of thumb is 1whp per cc so standard would give it around 370 at the wheels just over 400 at the flywheel. It has to have 555's as a minimum to get that. The problem is as I said they really don't know enough about the car. I spoke to a guy who has worked on it, but I don't think he's the one that did the engine mods. Not sure if they knew about the Cat D but got an email where they told me Cat D was stolen recovered - well it can be! but it can also be a write off through damage. ah well if life was easy we'd all be doing it - oh hang on! - - - Updated - - - £15K worth of receipts must learn to type or proof read lol
  24. Thanks for the quick reply guys. it is like pulling teeth to get spec info from them. you are bang on the nose with them not really knowing what is going in with it. The story is he is selling for his mates missus (he died in a bike crash) I did meet her briefly and to be fair I believe that happened. From them over the course of several phone calls I got the following (their words not mine!) block has been re sleeved has low compression pistons and replacement rings performance cams uprated turbos heads skimmed uprated gearbox quick shifter 625 hp at the flywheel I can see the obvious with wheels body kit exhaust etc. I knew there was no Nismo 300zx (although some people pretty much make them themselves by throwing huge amounts of money at them) I guess I am being a bit blinded by the massive horsepower on offer and ignoring the fact it might be a fiery ball of death.
  25. Any help will be greatly appreciated and exchanged for beers at a subsequent meets when I finally buy one. Sausage fingers typing!
