  1. Yeah if work commitments allow. Anyway stop press we are going anyway! Booked tunnel, hotel etc. last night so sod it we'll recoup the dosh of the shysters when we get back............
  2. Andy just got in from a 'spirited 250mile' trip back up the country (germany - autobahn of course ;) ) everything fine now. I have concluded that the oil-cooler upgrade means I now cannot rely on the stock oil-dipstick indication and have needed to put in roughly 700ml more ATF. My box is re-conned too and your symptoms were exactly the same as mine. My oil cooler upgrade is lukes (Zcentre) cooler upgrade, it uses the stock engine oil cooler as the auto trans cooler and then a 13 row mocal cooler to upgrade the engine oil cooling. Sort of like two upgrades in one. Touch wood its now ok. Only other thing i thought it could be is that it is a JDM model with a converter de-limiter so maybe this is screwing with the shift maps. Of course my top-up with oil seems to suggest that was the issue. Totally paranoid about it as alledgedly autoboxes are very sensitive to right oil level being present. Chris
  3. Guys, Need some advice. As some of you may know i signed up for destination nurburgring 06 as I was unable to make the club trip due to work commitments. So i was well happy when i saw this trip given coverage in various jap car mags. "A great event last sees event going strength to strength etc". I should have smelled a rat early on in the process, the team were a nightmare to get hold of and repeated e:mails and voice mails left only led to the occasional call back. Nevertheless the desire to raz around the ring with a hundred like-minded people was too much of a lure. The website was professional looking and included an active forum of people all waiting in anticipation of the trip. My colleague at work got himself booked in order to take his M5 (V10) round its spiritual home too. We were gonna have ball with the Z and the M. So 31 days before the trip we are supposed to get an info pack, didn't come, called the phone number got the usual voicemail and then eventually this friday (1 week before trip) got a call explaining "don't really need the pack its just a nice-to-have just be at folkstone 8am next saturday you will be met there by your group leader no worries mate." Meanwhile I have organised child care, spent money on the car getting it just so, booked a hotel the night before departure etc. etc. Then fook me today by recorded delivery i get a letter informing me trip cancelled !!!!!!!! un-be-fook-in-believe-able........... The letter is a lame apology and offers no explanation as to why at all. Meanwhile these guys have got £700 of my hard earned and no doubt X100+ other punters in their bank account.  What can i do to re-coup my money plus all of my now out-of-pocket expenses? Any legal types out there who can help? In the meantime the cheeky bar stewards asked if i wanted to book th 2007 event!!!!!!!!!!! My advice: you heard it here first is avoid this organisation like the plague and don't even think about signing up for next years trip. Sketchy as hell. Gutted Chris
  4. Hate to say it but THE most reliable car i have even owned is without doubt my E34 5 series BMW. I call it my airport car cause you can leave it anywhere without worrying because it is very low key. (unlike the Z) It has hammered up and down the country (once from newquay to kinloss  ) faultlessly for the last 3 years cost me less than £2,000 to buy with 60k on the clock and has only ever had oil & filters, brake pads and tyres. Now on 150+k miles and shows no sign of ever stopping 'cept rust is starting to appear in little spots must stop going to coastal places! I have a theory as to why it is so reliable:- It had a full service history and one owner before who obviously loved it. :D I have serviced it routinely every time the LEDS tell me too and guess what it has never let me down. It was obviously designed to do what I do with it; Lovely to drive long long distances and even though its 12 years old the only thing you can hear at 90mph are the bubbles popping in your can of red bull! If you get a car where some muppet has not stuck to the servicing schedule, let it over heat a couple of times etc. etc. you pay later. :slap: I will change it in a couple of months more out of could do with a change than anything. Reliable Vauxhall! Yeah seems like and oxy moron right like 'jumbo shrimp' and 'military intelligence' but................ 1989 bought my first missus a brand new vauxhall bottom of the range nova she did 100,000 miles in it with no problems at all 'cept it started to rust towards the end. Again serviced it on the schedule every time so no problems great little car for what it was. Her sister bought a polo a couple of weeks after and i remember thinking I wish we'd bought that as it looked classier (remember we are talking relatively speaking here!), more solid etc. How wrong could i be it was a shed So my approach now is get history and keep servicing to the book you will save in the long run. trouble with our Z's is when we get them they have usually already been run by some dolt with more desire than wallet hence geoff at zedworlds wall of shame cambelts  Chris
  5. If you are talking about the nismo's mate they were made in a number of versions LMGT1's, 2 etc. we are now up to Nismo LMGT4's now which are very similar in style but not split rims  They can be bought (expensively) through nismo dealers in fact they are shown on a silver 300zx in the nismo catalogue right up until 2004. Today they will cost you circa £2,400 a set  They come in silver and white. The earlier versions can be found but only occasionally. Many GTR32 Skylines had them fitted as they were an optional extra. I know of at least one guy on the list whose 300 came with them on (nice). I got mine from a US breaker when i was over on business and had them re-furbed here by a guy who specialises in split rims (not many will do a pro-job) as the bolts (which needed replacing) were a very odd size. They are not a cheap thing to do but they are nismo  and forged (not cast) by RAYS    its only up close that you really see the class and quality that is RAYS. Chris
  6. Anyone got any pics of a UK diff cooler? I run high speed 200-300 mile runs so may make sense for me............. If i can retrofit it to a jap diff even better Chris
  7. Its ok andy i just got it done must have been too busy earlier. Can you sort the records out to suit Best Chris (mines twinturbo)
  8. Too be honest i have had that much trouble with my HID's and mostly the guys installing them :slap: that I am at my wits end and just want my damn lights sorted. I have HID's on low beam but they are bodged in, not the correct fitment and finding a nice clean way to install them is hard as hell. (they had to have tape wrapped all around them to stop them from shorting out). Ideally I would like to extend the wires and sit the ballast packs in radiator area out of sight. The main beam HID's are the wrong fitment again and in trying to get them to work I broke one of the bulbs  I heard that the 99 spec lights fire up with no 'warm-up' so my thought was 99 spec lights with my good set or HIDS in the main beam..........but damn they are expensive. Expensive but if anyone else can do a nice clean install salvaging the bits from what I already have I'll pay £500 to solve this 2 year old problem. Annoys me cause I'll do anything mechanical but have a phobia 'bout leckys Chris
  9. Bud I think my membership just timed out hence no PM. Can you give me your number so I can call you as paypal not playing properly for me to re-subscribe Chris
  10. Trying to renew via paypal but it keeps saying you timed out........ Whats up? Chris
  11. My rover 220 turbo coupe (one the first off the production line). Brand new first day of ownership dumped its power steering fluid all over the road. Yelled like a mother at the sales guy and got it fixed that day drove to london for some running in / posing and at 70 was thinking sh"T this is a noisy car............why? Door mounted too low and window not fully closing  Leaked water into the boot and into passenger footwell. Vowed never to buy a new car again that day. A resolution that lasted until last year........... My missus came home with an RX8 brochure after weeks of nagging me for a mini ! RX8 is a great quality car except for leaky rear lights (now replaced under warranty) Chris
  12. Yes you need a spherical bearing in the top mount as the movement the damper makes is not exactly linear. Stock shocks compensate for this by being rubber mounted at the top but coil-overs need the 'pillow-ball' bearing otherwise they would be junk in no time. I have Apexi pillow-ball upper mounts on eibach springs and KYB shocks Chris
  13. Only the oil coolers are different..........Rumour was it that the diffs were different too but i am not so sure Chris C
  14. What is the best price you can get these at and do they wire straight in or is the loom different? Anyone got these and then put HID's on main beam too? Chris
  15. kick down working ok now but technically there is just a little too much oil in the box when i dip it. I have concluded this is because i have got an oil cooler upgrade so the extra oil circulating must be about 700ml? Chris
  16. Well I checked the level and it was ok. So i checked it hot AND cold exactly as per workshop manual. It seemed a bit down on checking it hot so I added 350ml (hmm better crisper shift and overdrive hooking in smoother and faster) So tested the 100mph kick-down. D'oh same problem (no drive revved right into the red  ) So...........Added another 350ml even better shifts and now 100mph kickdown all good...........So What have we learned??????   My car has a Zcentre autobox oil cooler upgrade and is lowered could this be the reason why my oil level dipped ok but still needed more oil to work correctly? No it is a fully re-furbed box so........... Confused............
  17. Go on mate you know they deserve a re-furb mine came up sweet as a nut
  18. Will call monday bud. must have had finger trouble. The kit is still yours bud if you want it. Chris
  19. Bud I just PM'd you call me on the number listed and we can do the deal. I will be passing your place tonight on my way home from Army HQ Best Chris
  20. Did no one tell you the Z is a money hoover mate if you think it is a low cost car you made the wrong choice :nono:  Sorry like don't shoot the messenger but check out the tech advice size of our forum and compare with other makes and models. Tells you all you need to know about whether you'll be a-spendin' or not !!!!
  21. Bud the kit is exactly the same make as the one sold via others on the forum but instead of the more common skyline disc / Z caliper option it is made for using 350z discs with Z calipers. It is a great upgrade over stock but obviously not quite as good as a full disc and caliper upgrade. The beauty is though when you get those 350Z calipers you can bolt them straight on. I bought it in error as I had R33 discs on the way not 350z discs. So it is totally 100% un-used. PM me if you want it £80 plus whatever postage is. See the pic the 350z disc spacer is on the left the R33 disc spacer on the right. Chris PS traders and others this is a one-off sale due to mis-purchase hence the price.
  22. Mate Keep an eye out for Nismo LMGT2's made by RAYS  sound like exactly what you want. They were and upgrade for the Z in the nismo catalogues. Heres a pic of mine make the Z look really cool
  23. Smithy, you KNOW I will be first in the queue to upgrade my calipers mate. My R33 spec DBA 5000 discs are so awesome  they now need some calipers to do them full justice. Jus make sure they will fit in my Nismo 17's :nono: Out of interest listers I got a 350z disc upgrade kit for sale that allows you to use your existing calipers on bigger 350z discs first £80 secures Chris C
