  1. I got lucky and got a pair of stillen intercoolers whilst in the US (the largest side mounted coolers there is for the Z) it was my first step after cooler plugs and an induction kit. The effect was to make the car run like it did on a cool evening or early morning most of the time. Stillen claim 15hp in their literature and you could definitely feel the difference. This forum will debate for ever whether side mounts or front mounted coolers are the best so save that for another day. personally i think its a must do even for modest upgrade paths as the stock items are puny. Check the pics
  2. This is the Jun/Blitz plenum used in their record breaking bonneville car from way back when..........Makes today's skyline based top speed machines look like what they are (lots of power with aerodynamics of a brick!) Jun will still build you a complete VG30DETT 'full tune' if you have the readies. When I looked at this it would be cheaper to have them buy and engine at jap auction fully prepare it and send it over in a crate for you to fit lock-stock-and barrel. Not sure if it included this special plenum though....... Chris
  3. Just curious as to if anyone running one. I am suprised that more jap cars that come over are not more heavily modified. Why do we not see cars at auction like skylines with well modded motors.
  4. Anyone running one of these? http://www.junauto.co.jp/products/cylinderblock-part/crankshaft/vg30.html?en
  5. lot of dough for untested kit ! Nice if its good..........
  6. So is the verdict good? bad? are the stiffer than eibachs etc..... jus doin my research before I buy Chris
  7. Guys, calm down they are not 350Z bits Nismo S tune and R tune suspension was commissioned for the 300zx I have the S tune (4-way damping adjustable front and rear and uprated springs). see pic The wheels are Rays Nismo LMGT 2's which are definitely fitting the 300zx as they are the nismo wheels of the 300zx era where you could say the current LMGT 4's are the nismo wheel of the 350Z era. IMHO the LMGT2s are sweeter due to their split rim design  see pre-re-furb pic below
  8. It might have already been said but a summary of the known facts is good:- 1. When the Z was designed and launched the higher octane fuel now readily available in japan was not so prevalent. 2. Most chipped jap cars will have been chipped assuming higher octane fuel than UK's typical 95RON unleaded 3. Higher octane generally = better det protection (but there is an exception) Optimax seems to significantly out-punch its weight as it is only 98RON but allows for significant increases in ignition advance before detonation occurs compared to other higher octane rated fuels. On the basis of the evidence i have seen my personal pecking order for fuel is:- 1. Optimax 98RON 2. BP ultimate 97 3. Tesco 99 When using anything other than optimax i add octane booster for piece of mind. I am running a (mine's ECU) To add to the mix BP supposedly has 102RON available in a few locations as a race / trackday fuel. As we progress as a nation maybe higher RON fuels is the trend anyway
  9. Dave check out http://www.DNR2006.com it is the weekend of 30th september It is a fully inclusive marshalled trip gumball style to the ring. Includes all tolls, crossings, accomodation 6 lap ring pass etc. The only thing not covered are 3F's Fuel, Food and Fines !!!! It was featured in the mags last year and so I thought me and the missus would give it a punt. They do a weekender package which makes it much easier to fit around work. At £695 for a car with driver and passenger I think that is a pretty good deal. Full driver pack sent out month before the event and full funds payable 1st august
  10. Mate when I go to the states on business (average once a month) I aways check out ebay motors. Note http://www.ebay.com not .uk then if I see stuff I get it fedexed overnight to my hotel. The US postage system is way cheap for good overnight deliveries and you see loads of Z stuff on 'buy it now'. Last time I was over for two weeks and the planets lined up enough for me to bag the nismo S tune suspension and nismo wheels.!!! I also got my 'way-hard-to-get' carbing strut brace this same way which is truly a thing of beauty. All hotels in the US will sign for your packages so it is no hassle. I have been stopped by customs once asking what my stuff was but as soon as they see second hand parts and i am not a trader they don't care. The rule is of course don't take the piss and all is well. Chris
  11. Due to work commitments could not make the Z trip to the ring so signed up for destination nurburgring in september.......Any other listers going ? Chris
  12. Anyone running these in combo? They have an extensive range of stuff for the Z and wanted something different from the usual stillen / eibach route. So A) anyone running Nismo S tune Suspension and B) anyone running whiteline anti-roll bars? Chris C
  13. LOL ever tried working harrier or lightnings !!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris C
  14. yeah dude I am interested I will deffo order the 5000 350z fitment and I need em ASAP as i want my car fuly sorted for an up coming trip to the ring. would love to give the business to you. Chris C
  15. Hey smithy do you have any of these rotors? I rang wallace performance as they have their ad in jap perfromance listing the 350z fitment but the guy was very vague and said maybe 2 weeks, maybe 4 kind of thing. I am going to the ring and car is currently sat with warped discs and red-stuff pads that burn up after only a mild sprint through the twisties near me. I do not want to be embarrassed at the ring by my missus in her RX8. This is a matter of matrimonial honour.! I wanted the best discs as i learned the hard way about buying 'cheap'. Would have got AP lockheed kit but I have 17's (rays Nismo LMGT2's) !!!!!!
  16. Cool Thread helps a lot. only fly in the ointment is I planned to go 350Z set-up because i figured the calipers i get from a breakers will be that much younger than skyline ones. Then I wanted to get some DBA 350z discs and casually asked they are the same as skyline ones right? same diameter, etc. Yes same diameter but apparently the offsets are different.......So I have a big brake adapter kit from the US (SPL parts) that allows me to use 350z rotors with my stock calipers. I want to fit DBA 5000 series 350z discs  and fit 350z brembo calipers  sooooo lets see if we can make that work. chris
  17. bump, so anyone know are these stock ride height? or lowered Cheers
  18. pic of the LMGT2 before re-furb
  19. is that cause they use a bolt and nut? Whilst in US i got a tasty 'big brake' kit which uses spacers to fit stock calipers onto 350Z discs (325mm). Whilst I am sure this will be a good upgrade i want better calipers too! (sick of being out braked by the missus' RX8) So it seems i could fit 350Z discs and calipers and / or 350Z discs and skyline R33 calipers. Should fit under 17's ???? thanks chris
  20. anyone recommend a wheel refurb in the north west that does split rims? chris
  21. Okay list i am asking cause i have seen so much about brakes and am confused as hell and have already spent too much on brakes that were equally as bad. The stock 300 brakes are as we all know pants (but good for the era no doubt) mine has the earlier series 1 alloy calipers? The questions:- 1. Did they change the front calipers on later models for steel? 2. Which skyline has brembo calipers that fit the same fitting and fit under stock wheels? 3. Which skyline discs / calipers will fit under 17's? 4. What is the best set-up under 17's? Chris C
  22. Ok the rears are 61cms from top plate to middle of the eye and the fronts are 47.5cms from top plate to middle of the eye. Thanks
